Idk why it would take ya a week. At most painting takes 12 hours lol. Knock it out in a day. Doing assembly line painting is easiest too. Do the terrain in sections.
Rogal dorn do brrrrr
This was really helpful, thank you! I like your clear and easy to follow style
Much appreciated video. I'm currently in the process of building a Death Guard team, so thank you for all the details!
i love those Novitiate models. whats the codemner and penitent from?
You’re telling me that my poxwalkers have the contagion area when I use de stratagem ???? I need to put more attention 😅
What do pox walkers offer, that another 3 marines can't do much better?
Snapped my gorwardens legs mid paint 😭😭😱 this has saved me
The mid paint snap is the worst!
Fantastic work! Currently working on my death wing assault box as well. Split up the work!! Don’t try to paint all of those models at once, it’s quite daunting!
I haven’t finished putting them together much less painting them! Though I do like to paint assembly line style. Get a whole box done at once kind of gal.
Cleanse the chaos filth my sisters!
The feeling is mutual😤 sometimes I want to destroy it myself
Cheap paints work fine for me? Maybe make sure to thin them?
Pretty cool tip especially recommending the paperclip which can be snipped to size. That method could definitely also be applied to converting minis as well and giving a strong bond to two pieces that otherwise wouldn’t have enough substance to bond together
Good point!
Biggest takeaway: "Patience is a virtual." 🙃
Hello there. I just stumbled onto your channel, and I think your doing great (checked out some other videos too). I do have a question for you though. Can you use ANY miniature paints for stuff I might 3d print? Meaning, can I use the same paints for stuff I 3D printed out of filament and resin? Or would I need to use different paints for filament, and different paint for resin? I really hope my questions makes sense to you. Thank you in advance. P.S., I THINK what Richard was asking about was the metal boxes on the shelfs to your right in this video.
Yes, being able to paint with mini paints is less about the mini material and more about the primer. As long as you're using a good primer that acrylic paint will adhere to, you're good to go. I have a lot of resin models and 3D print some of my own measuring tools. Those metal drawers are about 20 years old from Pier 1 Imports. lol
Nurglings as barricades is wonderfully lore friendly :) Thank you for the death guard run down
Great content! Btw, you sound like someone from the US who's moved to Australia if I'm picking it correctly 😄
Close, but in the opposite direction (country and timeline wise). Grew up in Ireland and the UK but have been in US for two decades.
@@unlikely_gamer haha I was way off! I'm a kiwi, thought I could detect some Aussie vowel sounds thrown in there :D
this was a great video right to the end where there was a bit of heresy not liking the golden throne heresy
Some of us play for both sides...
@@unlikely_gamer lol
The couple that hobbies together, stays together. The landing pad is great for Kill Team too, adds a little verticality to your games
Good presentation but it sounds like an Ai generated script.
Maybe I am AI.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
We hope the death guard got their tails handed to them ! 😂
That is a gorgeous painted mini 😊
Thanks! He still needs some final touches. Can’t wait to post glamour shots when he’s done-done.
Nice video. I’ve been painting miniatures over 40 years now. Mainly historical but I’ve done my fair share of GW also. I still find it valuable to watch videos like yours to remind me of my beginnings and to pick up new tricks. Keep up the good work.
Beginners mindset is the key to being great at anything!!
You have some of the best content for painting and deserve so many more subscribers. We love your content and are spreading it around. Thank you 🙏🏼
Oh wow! This comment 🥹🥹🥹 Thanks so much. I'm just getting started, so any word spreading is incredibly helpful!
What a great guide. Well done! You're so right about just getting started. I played with pre-painted miniatures for years before daring to try it myself, and now I love painting my own minis.
It’s a scary step. I felt like there was no way I’d be able to paint something so small. And honestly Instagram painters STILL make me feel like I should hang up the old paintbrush.
really good explanation of the basics without getting to deep into the rabbithole
Thanks. The rabbit hole is so deep, I had to cut a LOT of content to drag myself back out.
@@unlikely_gamer i can imagine that, 😅
Just a note... I had to turn the voice audio way up to hear you but the intro and outro music blew out my ears from being so loud. The sound balance/ mix could use some work.
So sorry. I’m still working on my editing skills.
Thank you algorithm, great new channel recommendation. I love seeing different types of painters getting their work noticed. Keep up the great work.
Aww this made my day!
I'm guilty of forgetting to pay attention to the base. i built and primmed my entire leviathan tyrind army then noticed i hadn't base a single model
Nids could be based after well with some heavy greenery and AK swamp Green! Make it a jungle world.
@@unlikely_gamer your right, but i like to see the model come together sooner.
@@Goblins_and_Aliens Totally fair, sometimes I even start with the base!
@@unlikely_gamer I need to start with the base and work my way up
The point on contrast is a very good one -- I recall visiting a cathedral in London -- probably St. Paul's (it was over 25 years ago....so memories get sketchy on these details) -- and they had mosaic's on the ceiling that dated from the Victorian era. They discovered that they needed to use colors that contrasted more strongly because while the mosaic looked wonderful at arms length, the colors did not contrast enough and they appeared washed out to viewers down on the floor. I will try to remember that, thanks to this video!
Great corollary to the broader art world. I imagine painting a ceiling and realising you’ve got too little contrast is far worst than a Space Marine! 🤣
Have you got experience with Tamiya acrylic paints on minis? I just started miniature painting, but I've done model cars for several years now, and Tamiya is my primary source for colors.
I haven’t tried them, though I have used them for model cars in the past. I imagine they have the right properties to translate from ships and cars to miniature space marines and orks. :)
You only recorded sound for the right speaker.
So sorry. I’m working on my editing skills.
Good point, I’m a long time Warhammer painter and I forget all the time the Mini needs to pop from the table top and let the first layer dry. Thank you. I’ll keep be watching your channel.
Thanks for watching. The table view is the hardest to remember for me. I have to consciously set it down.
I have a piece of advice for people who make painting tutorials: *use real colors.* II am so tired of trying to follow a tutorial and the artist says: "I use a light mix of zombie vomit and orc toenails for the base. I then drybrush with pixie wing and finish with a glaze Nyarlhotep tan." ????? Can you use colors like...oh I don't know red, blue and yellow? Sure add in white black and various browns but something a non-hobby painter will have heard of.
Fair enough. But is burnt umber or raw sienna much better? 😂 and technically those are the names of the citadel paints so if someone is trying to find it… ya have to look up ‘pink horror’ instead of magenta. 😜
@@unlikely_gamer I really don't mind that manufacturers want to sell a wide variety of paints. My gripe is with the tutorials. If something light gray call it light gray. They can then say that they use "half-orc underwear" but at least I know what they mean.
@@timbuktu8069 Half-orc underwear! I can't! Lmao! Def the best thing I read/heared all day! 🤣👍
@@JasminLeudesdorff I'm here to help.

Deathly chewing gum.
If you deny the problem, it will go away on its own...I think...
Hahahahaha Morvenn Vahl never goes away on her own.
Great video and for godsake drill your gun barrels 😂 yes yes yes … details matter👍thanks for sharing 👍🍻
There’s right and then there’s not drilling…
That intro was so loud 🤣 and then i turned down the volume too low to hear you, anyway fantastic video! Subbing
32 years later and l am 7 out of 7.
Haha, never too old to change your ways.
You have an interesting accent. North American, but a hint of UK or Australian?
You are not far off… Irish, grew up in London, lived in America for decades now. The accent comes and goes anymore.
Great tips
As someone who is trying this hobby out for the first time this year, every advice is very much aprecheated. Thank you for taking the time! Saved for future reference. 👍
Glad to help! Can’t wait to see some of your work!
@@unlikely_gamer Currently trying to carve out a place to work in my appartement. Allready ordered a lamp/magnifying glas from amazon. Currently still deciding on minis and color scheme, but the first one(s) should be ready mid- to end of may. I want to start an IG account as soon as the first one is ready. I let you know and we can all have a good laugh at my first humble attempt to try out this stuff 🖌️😂
Good advice!
I will NOT drill my gun barrels! It looks worse then before because I always hit them off center :(
It takes patience and the right tool but it really makes them look so good. I’ve messed up quite a few along the way.
Awesome video! I'm in the process of making my first tutorial/process video, so right now I'm hyper-aware of how much work goes into making the video itself look good. You're nailing it.
Thanks! It is way more work than I anticipated, so it’s taking me some time to get going, but your comments make it worth it!
