I Know I'm Not The Only One - Banner Elk Live
I checked one out when they first came out and were super hyped. Ig took me 10 seconds to figure out they were crap.
Kinda like cars… don’t buy the first versions.
Thank you. Was about to buy one.
I have seen at least two for sale with pickups sucken in
Good review. I don't even like the look of them, their solid body electrics are the only thing they make that are worth anything. Their acoustic line is the absolute last product I'll look at in a store and that includes used that are way out of warranty. Sorry about your luck but for a $2,000 price tag there are a LOT of decent guitars out there, but you know that now.
I have a love/hate thing with mine. Easy to play, sounds okay, but I wind up picking up my acoustic at gigs.
Wow...2year warranty..alot of the cheaper acoustic guitars will do this..even with bracing..but it takes 10plus years..2.5 yrs is absurd..it amazes me what this generation puts up with when it comes to music equipment,cars,ect..corporations take over, put everyone out of biz and sell you crap.
When I played one at Guitar Center i thought it was cool although I wasn’t overly impressed with the sounds. It also felt very fragile like if you played it hard something would break. I ended up buying a Micheal Kelly Hybrid Special instead for like 1/3 the price and love it. Also, I’ll second on the Godin A6, great guitar, Godin really builds quality instruments.
Meanwhile all these TH-cam personalities claimed it was the greatest guitar ever designed. When they started getting called out they all released apology videos the same day pretending to cry 😂
Well I will say in their defense, if you had one at first it seemed great, the sounds weren’t the best, but they served a purpose, but I don’t think they knew all the issues when they first came out, for me during the week(weekend I play with my band Jukebox Revolver) I make my income playing solo acoustic shows so I learned to loop a one man band, and it would of been perfect for that if it hadn’t had design flaws.
I've never played a Fender acoustic that was worth the money.
Should have bought it Certified Pre-owned ;)
I bought the Mexican Jazz master version and I really like it. My buddy bought the American Model and has had problems. The two are distinctly different.
Oh and my battery is a 9 volt standard not a lithium ion
Thank you for the PSA. I love guitars but I'd rather have true utility than a name on a headstock. You Sir have saved me a bundle.
Your welcome, I had use for it as well
But unfortunately can’t use as I need a quilt instrument that will last
The first picture you show , looks like the Bridge is coming "Unglued" from the body. Not that the Top is breaking loose. Is there Paint or Finish Under the bridge ? If so that's why the Big is coming loose. You can not have ANY ! Not even a tiny amount. And it need 100% Titebound Original coverage. Not the 3. As you may have to remove it someday. And No "HIDE" Glue it stands for Holds Initially Delaminates Eventually.
@@michaellandreth1392 the issue on most of the acoustisonics I’m seeing is the edges of the bridge is coming off the body because you can see two lines where the body is bowing under the bridge. They aren’t using the correct support to support the body under the bridge. The only fix is actually to have two bolts come through the tops of the body and bridge and try and pull it flush. It’s truly a design flaw. Is the top was flat and this was happening it would be an easy fix, but this is where the veneer top doesn’t havent enough strength to hold the amount of force the strings exert towards the top at the bridge. It’s honestly a design flaw that isn’t repairable, and fender refuses to address this issues and fix the flaw
I have not had any problems with mine . I use it all the time
@@eschatts1 takes time, lots of design flaws
Good video, thanks for sharing. I'm a fan of Fender own several Fender products, but it's interesting how I'm starting to see a lot of Acoustisonics show up in the used gear section of guitar stores lately.
That sucks. I think I got lucky with mine, it was from the first run of acoustasonics and I've never had these issues. Only issue I have with it is the high E loves to fall out of the nut slot. For me it does what I need, but that's just my experience so far about 4/5yrs later. I'm sure I've jinxed it now though😄 Plenty of other companies do not give a shit about you after the warranty is gone too. The attitude is, too bad these things can happen go to a luthier. While yeah I agree general maintenance is expected, but I have experienced some quality issues so bad the guitar is actually unplayable (neck in constant back bow, graphite in neck instead of truss rod, so you can't readjust it). Anyway it's reasonable when you get burnt not to want to give these companies any future business.
This is different it’s an actual design flaw, the guitar I got was actually only one of many I have seen that have done this. If it hasn’t happened to you I’m glad it’s working good, hope it stays it gigging condition. It the top bows like it did on this and the others I have seen it’s actually unrepairable
Look I love it keep trashing them because I'd like to buy a few more I have a mexican-made telly so it uses a 9-volt battery not a problem Best sounding acoustic electric sound no feedback and I have been just totally enamored by this guitar so you guys can grouse all you want I'll be picking them up when they go down low
Thanks for the warning ! Never liked the look of these guitars, now I definitely don't like them. Shame on Fender.
Fender warranties and quality is a joke regardless of model, I have 1st hand experience
Very interesting video, thank you for sharing. I was interested in one of the US all mahogany versions of the Acoustasonic Tele and wonder if these might be a little stronger structurally? There would still be the battery issue though! I’ll probably go for a traditional acoustic now, but don’t like the ‘bulk’ of them, which is what really appealed about the Acoustasonic. Thanks again for sharing and sorry you (and others) have had a bad experience.
@@mikelowry5027 they aren’t as bad but still doing the same thing unfortunately just not quite as bad, the issue is the top is a veneer and doesn’t have the supports needed to handle the pressure of the strings pulling
@@mikelowry5027 now that being said, I a friend that uses the Taylors TZ5 and those are made a lot better, don’t get all the tonal options but going from acoustic to electric sounds might be a good idea. For me I do looping shows so the fender was appealing, I have a Taylor 314ce and Gibson J45-AG Walnut and for acoustics they sound much better but they idea of using acoustic and electric sounds was really appealing doing what I do. The Taylors doesn’t quite fit that need I need so I haven’t gotten one. For a straight acoustic sound I would go for a straight acoustic, in a band setting where you can do acoustic and electric I would be tempted towards the Taylor if I needed, but my band is always electric and if we do acoustic we do straight acoustic.
@@skeelgso I think that has made my decision for me and my money will be going elsewhere! Thanks again. Will look at short scale / smaller bodied acoustics I think. I’m a big guy but am put off by the size of dreadnoughts etc and find them uncomfortable to hold / play
@@skeelgso interesting, thank you. I’m just a home player (no gigs) so don’t really need a hybrid type guitar. Probably makes sense for me to just get an acoustic alongside my electrics. I’ve got a Fender Joe Strummer campfire acoustic, but really don’t like it. I might look at a Taylor GS Mini…they always seem to get good reviews and the Koa Plus models look great…much less money than a US Acoustasonic!
I just picked one up today.......rechargeable battery puts me off. This video is the nail in the coffin...it will go back next week...I’m sticking to a proper acoustic new strings and minor adjustments here & there is all you need for years of playing enjoyment.
I stopped buying new Fender amps, & the last guitar was purchased in 2008. However, I will still buy vintage fender amps & guitars. I will say the stuff coming out of the Ensenada plant are pretty damn good.
For me this was my last current purchase form Fender, years ago I switched to Music Man for all my fender style guitars and haven’t looked back, but after this I wont buy anything that’s not electric. For amps I still like their amps, my amp is Based off a fender, it’s a Carr Sportsman 1x12 but it usually sits in my studio, I actually the UAFX pedals live most of the time now
just re-adjusted, neck, new strings, new bridge pins, plays and sounds like a dream, now has a super low action without fretbuz, and I have the tele player😀🫵🏻
Thanks man! I was considering one but was a bit mentally reserved about the fixed built in battery as we all know they have limited lifetime. Plus there are reports about occasional issues with QC - loose pickups and so. You helped me with my decision. Thanks!
I think the Player (Mex) version uses regular 9v batteries
Sounds great!
Seems like a really major design flaw. Any good guitar should be able to last at least 30 years, if not a lifetime (that also depends on how well the owner takes care of it). I guess you don't really know what the company is like until you find yourself in a situation like that, but I'm pretty sure yamaha and many other companies have a limited life time warranty that would cover flaws in the manufacturing.
That is how I see it, I good instrument should last and be played for years, but fender I’m sure has a team the realizes how much loss is anticipated versus money made and they probably decided this was a more profitable way to make a guitar than fix the flaw
Thanks for this video - appreciate the cautionary on this.
wow that is awesome!
Thank you
Rry a Godin A6 Ultra
Class action suit?
It very well could be a class action suit, I don’t know enough about the laws of merchantability to know whether you can or not but it’s definitely something to look into
Awesome job!!
Thanks!
That thing is way over priced anyway! And for them to go and do that! I'm right there with ya! They are crooked!
Definitely crooked and wrong, it’s typical corporate mentality, how long can we do something before we get caught and if caught what’s the estimated cost of getting caught
www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/Original/10002/fender_acousticinstruments_warranty_revC.pdf
Mine has done exactly the same thing and has a nasty 6 inch long crack in the top. It’s still perfectly playable but it’s annoying as hell! I have the Mexican Tele model.
That’s the issue, fender isn’t even trying to address the issue, they know it’s a problem and they don’t care, a couple years use and but another instrument is their model on these guitars. It has completely turned me against fender
Hate that yours has a crack tho, that’s horrible to hear, that being said if it’s still under warranty you Might want to hit up fender to fix it. They fix it by replacing it from what I’ve heard
@@skeelgso thanks. Mines long out of warranty. I’ll probably just fix it myself. It’s not too difficult to do. It’s enough to put me off buying another one of their guitars though!
Great cover! Loved it.
Thanks a lot! It’s a fun song to play
Nice version. Sounds great. I covered this one e as well. You sound great on this one.
Thank you so much Tom, it’s a beautiful song and I love playing it, something magical about John Lennon with almost everything he wrote.
Sounds great.
Thank you so much Tom
Sound fine but way way over priced.
I didn’t mind the price has there not been any issues with the design, my issue was it falls apart, for the price it served a purpose and a need I had but unfortunately it’s a no go
Their business practice and poor QC are what got them into trouble in the 1970's. You think they would have learned their lesson from that.
Completely agree, and their lack of care for clients, being a legacy company they rely on the namesake and the heritage associated with it
@@skeelgsoAbsolutely! They got humbled by Ibanez, Yamaha, Jackson, Charvel and Kramer. After they regained their footing, they started again to strong-arm the mom and pop dealers, this was the beginning of the end. Their 1970's arrogance re-emerged and they have come full circle. Gibson is on the same path....It's truly sad and disappointing. Like yourself, I would never buy a Fender again.
Ur thumbs 👍 button is not working. Put thumbs up and it didn't count it.
Oh no! Hit the subscribe button and I will make more content, have a new video about how D’Addario as a company is truly amazing and blew me away on what they did and how they handles a situation, I asked them if I could make a video about it and they said yes
Ibanez makes great guitars I can not disagree, love Ibanez
Played a few Fenders, but I prefer Ibanez.
Would love to hear more from you.
Wow Danny that is amazing all you can do with the looper and the layers. Great job!
Thanks so much!
