I thought I'd have a go at Tom Waits' classic: On The Nickel. It's very challenging, with 3 different keys: Gb, Ab & Bb and a vocal range of 2.3 octaves. I knew there would be a few pauses but I love the song so I just went for it! No editing or overdubs, no pitch correction, just some compression on the vocal.

As you are no doubt aware: I took liberties with Schubert's score in my adaptation. I assigned a program to the piece with details that you are not aware of. I had good reason to alter his dynamics and I don't resile from my changes, nor from any of my many liberties. If you ever read my score with my program details and instructions you will understand why I did what I did. In my setting Schubert is pleading his case with God for more time, a plea that is vehemently denied! There is a lot of story going on behind the scenes. Hopefully one day I will publish it...
F minor section: just a bunch of arpeggios + Schubert's melody. Doesn't convey the character of the original. 😒 Although in fairness, I imagine it would be very difficult to make a playable piano version that does that.
