    Instrument panel is from an A model. I recognize the NCU, just in front of and slightly to the right of the central ejection handles.

    2:20 thats pretty cool how the ADI gyro "spins up" and it slowly goes to the correct position . im not sure DCS even models that (well, DCS probably does.... i just havent flown a DCS jet with an ADI that functions like this one) . i wonder if its a "vacuum gyro"...... and not fully electronic like the jets im used to but im not a pilot..... all i care is that after the start-up..... the greens are in the green..... and the reds are in the red .

    113 started life as an A model and saw service in Vietnam with the USAF and flew the last F-111 mission there on 17/4/73. It was purchased by the RAAF and delivered 23/5/82 then converted to a C model which had longer wings and a boundary layer splitter plate in front of the intake. Neither of these features are on the aircraft depicted here. Close but not quite there

    How on the spot are these instruments with the Actual F111's im trying to generate interest in the F111(a-f) on the DCS boards after reading a bit about this amazing airframe. Did it take Licensing from General Dynamics to make this? What references did you use? and where is the instrument/alarm that indicated the aircraft was about to melt mid-air?

    • @kainhall
      @kainhall 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      im 99.99% sure their is not a "temp sensor" that tells you when its gonna melt . the pilots simply knew that flying at mach X and Y altitude meant that things would get too hot . and even if you did that..... it would not "melt" like.... the wings would NOT turn red.... and then start dripping melted steel . it would simply cause things to jam up due to the heat causing the metal to expand (which metal does.... even just sitting in the sun) or your fuel might start to boil..... causing "vapor lock" or something like that

      I was on the EF-111A back in the 80's at MHAFB....we had one come back with a distinct "bite" out of the rudder, as if by a shark. The Mach Monster bit that one! Supposedly it was going M2+ at the time, and the aircrew had no idea it had happened until they were in the pattern and Tower mentioned it.

      I think the first three had ejection seats as did the EF- 111 Ravens. Aussie F -111C s had longer wings for greater range and a stronger landing gear from the failed F-111Bs.

    I was a flight line F-111 crew chief for 8 years (Lakenheath and McClellan) in the 1980s, and did hundreds of launches. My memory is that #2 was started first, then I'd pull the electrical cord and air, which are on the left (#1) side, and then I'd hand the nose gear pin (and speed brake collar if the jet was going cross-country, which required that I go into the main gear bay, entering from the left side) to the pilot. After those items were accomplished, the pilot spun up #1. I believe it was simply a safety/FOD thing to start #2 first. I only ever did 2 cartridge starts (one in Victor Alert during an exercise, and one on a remote recovery where no -60 unit was available), and I frankly don't recall if the sequence was different. It was smokey and cool as hell, though.

    You can NOT use stations 1,2,7, and 8 for weapons. Fuel tanks only. Those pylons do NOT rotate with wing sweep, like the 4 inner stations do. If you have pylons/wing tanks there, then the wing sweep can NOT exceed the min sweep of 16 deg. (Takeoff / Landing). I'm catching several flaws only F-111 drivers can know about, on this program. Those stations were never meant for stores. Their use was abandoned long ago, and only the FB-111's were the only a/c that ever used them (Fuel) as their loads were in their weapons bay (usually 2x B-61).

    • @joecalobeer6396
      @joecalobeer6396 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonesy97 Sorry bud, but you can put anything you want on 1,2,7,&8 I loaded bombs on that airplane for ten years. A models at Mt.Home, D models at Cannon, and F models at Lakenheath! The fixed pylons on those stations were designed to eject at 26 degrees of wingsweep, hence the lockout switches above the wing sweep handle. I never did see a fixed pylon, except in the manuals. Plus, on those models the right weapons bay had the M61 gatling gun installed until PaveTack came along. Don’t know about the FB’s, never worked on them.

    • @DaemonPhobos
      @DaemonPhobos 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joecalobeer6396 are stations 1 and 8 also functional in the F models? i wanted to know since the manual shows it as having only 6 pylons in this same panel, i know that the C and E model has 8 pylon capability and there are even pics of them carrying like 48 MK-82s. Also, saw a video of early versions carrying LAU-3 rocket pods on TERs, could this be done in the F variant too? since the hud seems to have lost the "RKT AG" in these models

      @@joecalobeer6396 I loaded also at Cannon's D's and on Lakenheath's F's. Never in our bible (T.O. 1-F-111F-33-1-2) did I read anything about "eject-able" pylons on 1, 2, 7, and 8. When I got to Cannon in 1987, the M61 was long gone. It was just an empty bay. I never loaded a thing in there, fortunately. Just like you, I've never seen fixed pylons. Just in pics. If the pylons were designed to eject at 26 deg. what was the mechanism that did the ejection? Explosive bolts? Something like impulse carts? What? Do you know?

  • @GJones462-2W1

    Ok, this jet is supposed to be an E model from RAF Upper Heyford, but right behind the canopy is a logo from the 494th TFS from the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath (My squadron when I was a Weapons Systems Spec in the USAF). The game programmers need to get their facts right.

    • @patrickflohe7748
      @patrickflohe7748 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonesy97 Very true! 494th decal on left side of fuselage, aft of capsule. It's also on the wrong side, as the Statue of Liberty Wing decal for the 48th TFW F-111Fs would've been on the left, and the squadron would've been on the right. However, the cockpit is definitely NOT an F. Also, Military power is not 70%, but 100%.....then you go into afterburner,
