Recorded at Arrowsmith's Wine bar in Solvang California, they gave a presentation on the state of the disabled union. ...

Thanks for having me on!
Cynthia is such a great person and example and so are you and Uriel. I'm in the older generation where mainstreaming was just beginning, sports camp was just starting; so it's awesome to see the younger generation successes along with the support given to each other.
Awesome episode. I agree with Elysia not necessarily pushing for the "all or nothing" approach, but working with the business owner even if incremental changes. I'll look for the app. Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Great collaboration with you guys brother!
Welcome back! In California it is legal for a vehicle with placard to use 2 adjacent spaces if accessible parking is not available.
Good to know!!! Thank you <3
The only time I've been to an LA Kings game at Staples Center, my companion and I had disabled seating. 2nd half, we went to get food. When we came back, our seats were taken by another couple! When we asked the usher, why were our seats being occupied, he said, "Sorry, I thought you two left, so I gave your seats to these people." I forget why I didn't force the issue, but the usher found us two other seats, but they were in a worse location and behind a pole! After the game, we spent lots of time to locate the right office to complain. After a long wait and explaining my complaint, all they gave me was a stupid bag of giveaways with an XXL large T-shirt. I then brought this to the attention of our outing coordinator who reached out to group reservation. After a month they finally emailed comping me with two tickets, but only on one specific night, on a weeknight during the work week, and I don't even live in LA! I just said forget them, I'm never going back to a Kings game with how I'm been treated.
That's ridiculous! I'm sorry that happened, but thank you for sharing! We deserve better!
Hey Chris, Root beer! Me too! - Don
Great meaningful presentation and show.
@@Hrairoo555 thank you so much! We all had a blast making it, and it left a huge impact on Uriel and I for certain.
Dom, 40 years without updating that limit? That's just wrong. Do you know about ABLE accounts for those with disabilities. Money's saved in those accounts won't count toward the SSI limit and could be used for your medical needs including care giving.
The issue about not being addressed directly happened to me at Disney California Adventure. I was stuck on a ride for 4 hours. The "suits" only talked to my friends and comped them (only $50 in meals!) and didn't talk to me at all!
@@Hrairoo555 it is wrong! It still hasn't made any progress passing through the Senate or the House, so hopefully sometime soon. Thank you for the reminder about the ABLE account. I have one myself, and I definitely want to do an episode in the future explaining how it works. It's certainly a nice thing to have, but it still limits the amount of money that people with disabilities can have and how they use it. Also, thank you for sharing that story with us. Uriel and I are working on a long-term project that highlights the biggest issues in the disability community. If you don't mind, email us some of the biggest challenges that you face on a daily basis. We can use all the perspectives and stories we can get our hands on :)
