First match of the year and another new player on the channel. I keep trying and keep failing to mount the monopod on the court 6 fence that has the windscreen netting. Every time the wind blows it moves the camera -_-
Only the highlights points when the camera is less shaky are posted.
Hi! I’m Ray and I play NTRP 3.5-4.0-ish level tennis in Singapore. Most players are self-rated on an app called Reclub, where many of us find hitting partners.
I (blue shirt) serve and volley and rush the net whenever the opportunity arises.
Hanwei (grey shirt) hits his forehand with lots of topspin and his backhand hard and flat.
We play an 8 game pro set which I win 8-5.

    Hi, I am your 400th subscriber! Did you know that the 400th chapter of the Bible (2 Chronicles 33) tells the story of a king who did much evil in the sight of God, but when he was taken captive by an invading army, he cried out to God for forgiveness, received forgiveness, and "knew that the LORD he was God." Now I'm not a king, but I did much evil in the sight of God in my youth, and was taken captive by illness, rather than by an invading army, but the parallels are there! I asked Jesus for forgiveness, and I received it, and since then, I know that the LORD he is God. I play tennis (nearly exclusively doubles), but it's good to watch singles between two players who are more consistent than I am. I love the camera angle and the stats at the side! Not such a fan of the squeaky shoes on floor friction, but I'll let it slide (bad pun!). God bless, Ian

    One honest advice, if you continue to play this way, you will not improve much, hereon. unlike some other players on youtube, their progress from 3.0 to 3.5 to 4.0 and beyond is very visible from their videos over time. Your game has more or less remained the same and you have already plateaued. even if you win, you can only beat 3.0 players or equivalently low 3.5 players if you dont significantly pick up pace, spin, power and overall feel and control skills in all aspects of your game. I do wish you a fruitful journey in the game of Tennis, Ray. Thanks for uploading.

      While I agree with DonYang73 on most of what he said, it is notable he mentioned pace and power, and control. If I had to choose between pace/power (same thing mentioned 2x? so i surmise that's what he is urging) and control, definitely control is more important and less taxing on the body (having read what you said about your age). Another often overlooked aspect is movement, which all of us should add. Once you have control and movement, everything is easier, and it is up to you to add power or not. Also, the narrative about what constitutes 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, beyond etc is really arbitrary and sometimes laughable, especially having watched so many players. There are 4.something players out there who feel they hit hard and hit aesthetically but cannot beat beginner players who lack pace, just slice and dice and lobs aka pushers. In these cases, wouldn't we say these 4.something players are way overrated or maybe they are only capable of handling certain styles of play. After all, tennis about winning and not a beauty contest. (Otherwise, there would be bonus points for tennis clothing.) In fact, I would go as far as to say such 4.something players who cannot beat pusher players are at best 3.something if not worse, since they cannot handle this supposedly inferior/beginner level of players. In short, my suggestion is to work on movement and control and have the ability to handle all types of game styles (like how you did here) because a player who can only handle one type of opponent is basically an inflexible sitting duck and is objectively just a rung above beginners despite looking much better.

    • @3.5netrushtennis
      @3.5netrushtennis 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@leisurefarm Agreed. There are different circles of players too. Some are only interested in rallying, and their skills and self rating reflect that. Their “4.0” may be only referring to the ground strokes, disregarding the serve or any match play intelligence. But it serves them well since they will find other 4.0 groundstrokers to rally with in the apps. I understand where they are coming from. If they put “3.5” to reflect their match play, then they may have disappointing rallying sessions. Same with those who only play doubles. Or females who only play with other females. Or the older folks. UTR is supposed to be the great equalizer so that any age and any sex can pay evenly with each other, but then ego comes into play. So we end up preferring a higher rating in our smaller circle than a lower rating in an expanded circle. Regarding styles, there’s the issue of matchups. The godlike fitness, build and power of Safin had losing record against the tricky wizard Santoro. My fav examples always.

      @ yes i am talking about controlled pace/power. Not crazy ripping. Problem is that many 3.0 -3.5 players cannot add power with control and consistency. So they end up babying and playing “touch” tennis.

      @@mawan9947 thanks! I don’t rally much, mostly just match play. I also don’t use Rovo much. But it’s “Ray 🐤” on Rovo and “Ray Lim (3.8)” on Reclub.

    Both leave the ground when serving & hit full swing shots, that is not 3.5😊
