Shelter WA - Anthea's Story
มุมมอง 453 หลายเดือนก่อน
Anthea has found herself again in her art after an act of kindness when she was living rough. For Anthea, art is culture and culture is diverse. People who are homeless have talents and gifts but this isn't recognised by people walking past who judge and don't understand. If people showed kindness, it can change lives.
Shelter WA - Alicia's Story
มุมมอง 625 หลายเดือนก่อน
Alicia Keenan has experienced a form of homelessness that impacts a lot of younger people. Sleeping on friend’s couches can be a better option than being at home, but it doesn’t give security and control over your situation. We all deserve to have housing that lets us live our lives to the fullest.
Shelter WA - Lana's Story
มุมมอง 1505 หลายเดือนก่อน
Lana Moon is using her lived experience of homelessness to advocate for changes to the system, a system that often fails to see people in adversity as human beings with intersectional needs and which treats many people as lost causes. Lana is contributing to the HOME Project with Shelter WA.
Shelter WA - Affinee's Story
มุมมอง 4.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Homelessness affects people from all walks of life, including many who are employed. As a contributor of the HOME Project with Shelter WA, Affinee hopes to challenge our preconceptions, reduce stigma, and foster empathy. She believes that whilst we can't solve the housing crisis alone, we can make a meaningful difference in a person's experience.
Shelter WA - Gabby's Story
มุมมอง 825 หลายเดือนก่อน
Gabby knows that people who are experiencing homelessness may also be dealing with drug and alcohol use, and mental health challenges. They need to be seen and understood as whole people. Services need to know how to do that respectfully or else people will not get the support they need. Gabby is also contributing to the HOME Project with Shelter WA.

Beautiful and inspirational ad.
You don't have to acknowledge ''traditional owners'' Australia belongs to ALL Australians...You cannot use different groups and ethnicities in society as a political tool to subvert sovereignty from one to another as you see fit. We are all equal. You WILL open up new land to build on and YOU WILL make it easier and cheaper to own a home.... This is YOUR job and YOU WILL follow the WILL of the people....Don't like it??Too bad get another Job.
Minister of Housing, come and spend A day in Golden Bay. Experience the terrorism that Your social housing tenants bring on to the community. Put these people in your own neighbourhood Minister Carey !
Now is the the time for the people to get together and make this change the budget has been set we need your elders to do what you do best ❤❤❤❤
As the Minister for housing what are you doing about the disgraceful condition of properties from feral housing tenants trashing them? Tax payers are feed up with supporting these burdens. How about you have a housing property built next to your house minister Carey !

Well thats a good idea 💡 🤔
So according to Bob house prices will fall if supply increases. How about taking a pin to that 200 billion euro bubble FG blew on inflating house prices with borrowed money? My suggestion is deflate the bubble by taxing existing housing stock while exempting new builds for the next 25 years. This will spur the beneficiaries of the 200 billion to sell existing housing and buy new houses. And by exempting first time buyers from the tax, they took may take a share in the 200 billion instead of just getting the bill. Also, you want more houses to be built? This plan would do it as existing property owners buy new builds to escape the tax on their existing houses. Now, as for the tax, it will need to be punitive, monthly and any property in arrears advertised for sale on a government website.
Thank you for your hard work. The Rental industry needs to be completely overhauled.
Yet to raise mine in 2 years.
I'd like to see National Cabinet offer States/Territories a policy that enables spot purchasing by Community Housing or REITs within a 5km ring around train/bus stations, shopping centres etc to enable different classes of Ownership and tenants and incentivise those people so that taxpayer dollars are spent more effectively to help Australia's citizens.
What do you expect when the councils don't allow new construction, and Labour is opening the immigration floodgates. Of course rents are going to sky-rocket. It's not hard to understand.
This is not a good idea and I don't understand the logic behind it. It's going to cause a bigger rental crisis and it's not going to stop rent going up. People are just going to be hit with a bigger increase at the 12 month mark, one they can't potentially afford leaving them no choice but to move out. Or Landlords are going to boot tenants out after 6 months so they can sign a new lease and increase the rent that way. Rental prices will continue to go up regardless of whether or not it's at 6 months or 12. Just watch rental prices go through the roof because of this, they will just put their prices up from the get go. That $450 house for rent online today will be $550 tomorrow.
Housing affordability is a very easy problem to fix. The problem is that the Policymakers all own multiple homes and fixing it would hurt them financially.

This is so wrong. Housing first does not work
Joke. I get nothing but false promises and lies from these pricks every day. Don't care about homeless
Wonderful Jaron Absolutely valuable service that you have brought to St Pat’s Thankyou for being you. As essential as the services that St Pat’s provides, it is people like yourself that make the flow of nurtured assistance continue
Wonderful valuable stuffJaron Thankyou for being you
Government needs to change, so hard to get home loans now for whites but we give this garbage free housing, they will never evolve and amount to anything, we all need to stand up against this
A great interview. Well Done Big Al.
Hey Ed, you know what a challenging time this was. Hopefully, my story will help others seek help earlier. Thanks for the positive comment mate.
These people are all idiots. They're playing a game, they don't really give a shit. So many pathetic typical politician responses to peoples genuine questions.
There can only be one.....☝️
Real aborigines who never lived in a house , They do not like to be locked up between walls. that how They feel it is like prison for them. They need more open area They should be shown few houses to see how we live , then Ask how would like to change it, probably for more open places. And teach them about how to look after the house and Garden. Those who never had a home need lo to Learn lot. What we all learned from birth. These should be taken in consideration. For Aborigines housing !!!!!!!!!!!!!! The government would save Lotsof money by consulting them. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations ShelterWA team for coordinating a fantastic range of events for this week. We were so pleased to be able to co-host Bob Jordan's presentation with you.
This should be illegal, pets are an important part of the family. It should be a tenant's right to keep a pet and not be discriminated against for having a pet. We desperately need rental reform across the country to stop this from happening.
Terrific to have Dr Stafford at this forum.
Thanks for sharing, great to see what's being achieved by homelessness services and the potential to do more...
well done, this clearly demonstrates the importance of an integrated approach
