Nice video! I’m kind of into the steel reeds these days (Seydel 1847’s). I love the Special 20 though too! One of my favorites! Myself personally the marine bands have never interested me. I know they are great harps though. It’s definitely a personal preference as we all know. One thing the same is we all love instrument and music! That’s the main thing! And I say shave your head! lol. I did it a few years ago and love it. Don’t think I could go back now. I just use an electric razor on it every few days and I’m good!

Munch on some ginger root. Take magnesium. And cayenne pepper drink teas and stop thinking about the negative. There is good life out there.. maybe go to a old folks home and talk to old people and get a different perspective

Life is hard. There is ups and downs. Just got to keep pushing through. Sounds like you are feeling purposeless. Through all my trials faith in Jesus giving purpose for this life and the next has brought me peace. As we try to be better every day but still being loved through our stumbles. Was thinking of the Marine Band Deluxe this week. Im primarily a Special Twenty guy , but do love a good marine band. Also , I have similar feelings in life, what works for me to even feel a little better , is look for one small detail each day that made me happy . Whether its learning a new lick on harp or my resonator , watching a show etc, then I know that I will be okay just for today. Your videos are great, keep on harpin'!

Keep playing my friend, you have a gift and there is no way that is a bad thing or a depressing thing so hang onto it. Your decision to lay off drinking and smoking is a good one, if for nothing else than it will make your throat feel better.

My problem with the Marine Band is after the wood gets wet it seems to swell and tear up my lips. I guess I'm a woos cuz like the Special 20's for no other reason than that.

The varnish and the comb on MBD and the crossovers are way better. That’s why you do the same on the 1896😊

6:33 yes same wood and one more layer of varnish. That’s what I do on my 1896.

Also found that embossing really does make a real difference. So tight !

I use shellac to “close” the holes of the nails, then nail back my 1896. But I also tweak a lot my 1896. So I open/close them often. Thought of screwing them. But …why?? My way of closing them works top notch

I like the Deluxe. Just prefer Crossovers if it’s not 1896.

As usual I forgot about half of my talking points. I wanted to add that I also think the tone on the deluxe is noticeably worse! Compared to the marine band it is muddy and not very loud!

Hello there! I am from Romania and just started to play harmonica 4 months ago, I bought 5 harmonicas so far :)) but marine band 1896 its the best one. I am new the the harp. Got a cheap one as a bit of a joke but it is great get to play it everyday driving around. Always got it in my pocket. Play the sax also but it’s so loud. And you got to set time aside to play but don’t have to do that with the harp. Setting the time aside to do it is hard with having a family. Keep it up like your vids.

I used to use paper😂 but I recently bought the East Top repair kit it's been a revelation, I've tuned 8 harps thus far and saved two from the harmonica grave yard. I definitely want to learn how to customize harps. I love canned heat too, always in the shadow of the Brit blues bands but I think Canned heat are a vastly underrated band. And yes Alan was one of the first white boy harp players and to me he was one of the best
