:D helllll yeah
Love it.
At first my mind instantly expected a Leo & stitch impression for some reason XD, but then I was then blown away, beautifully done Cornelius.
Oop just realized I mistitled the short. It's an excerpt from Treat You Better, haha
What exactly does the raising of the head do to the vocal tract? Does it allow you to open your jaw more by creating more space between the neck and jaw?
It does indeed increase the range of motion of the jaw, but the main effect is that it opens up the pharynx, thus requiring you to narrow the pharynx "manually" when you need a narrow pharynx, giving you more control.
Hey thank you for the video, just wondering is this curbing or overdrive or belting? m.th-cam.com/video/iS6wv0Rfars/w-d-xo.html m.th-cam.com/video/XYWEnj5rCYY/w-d-xo.html
Is phalryngeal voice same as what most vocal coaches essentially call "head dominant mixed voice"? Or heady mix. It's like they say with A4 and above, the approach should gradually lean into more head dominant. Is it like they mean you just need to narrow the pharynx more as you ascend in pitch?
No, they are usually referring to something more like a twanged falsetto with compression, but it varies. There is no consistent pattern to how the term "head dominant mix" is used.
Will singing high notes while bending over interfere with proper singing techniques? I've seen plenty of teachers have their students bend over leading to much more open,in-tune,makes it easier to sing high notes.
No, it will not intefere. Bending over while keeping the head level is actually another way to increase the angle between the neck and the jaw.
Doesnt this relate to necessary twang as well?
Making your face more animated typically also activates your pharyngeal constrictor muscles a bit, so yes, it is related.
We live for Mirth
you are the best singing teacher on youtube as far as I'm concerned and I've searched some time for sure. I tend to be more of a silent watcher and practicer, I just want to let you know that you help a lot!!!
I'm a newbie, and I get nervous and excited singing on stage during worship, so sometimes I forget to smile. Thanks for the advice.❤
Were you speaking in mixed voice this entire video?
No, just more brightly and mellowly than usual. In my analysis video I was speaking in mixed voice coz I was still recovering from a period of illness.
Thank you for your Videos, really love them a loot ❤
Oooh I need a bit of that. Thanks for the knowledge shared...

Beautiful analysis.. can you please do one on Luis Miguel any song of him. He's an amazing spanish singer. Would love to listen what you think about his voice. 💛
omg you looks like lorelay fox, loved your video analysis
Finally, "vocal coach reacts" done right! This is a great strategy, Cornelius. Thank you very much for this and I look forward to more content like this!
What kind of mixed voice do they both use? There was quite clearly a half-metallic sound in they mixed voice. There is no restraint quality. 7:53 Is that different from the pharyngeal voice?
The restrained quality is subtle, but it is there, and there is nothing impossible about getting a metallic sound in mixed voice. The sound at 7:53 is just falsetto, not pharyngeal voice. The precise technical difference is very theoretically advanced (goes beyond the scope of even my one hour video on resonance), but the simple version is that in pharyngeal voice, the vocal fold closure is much more strongly coupled to the amount of twang than in falsetto.
@@VoiceStudioEastthank you, I may not understand the restraint quality enough coz what you show mixed voice in SLS style is clearer for restrained quality. May I ask you one more question? 4:46 and 9:37 is this a yell timbre? I really like this content. It helps me understand your registration concept more.
I gained knowledge and happiness. Thank you very much.❤
Cornelius, this is a glorious analysis. I absolutely love that you can describe AND demonstrate what we're hearing as well as what we're _not_ hearing. Please make more of these, this may just be the best resource of its kind on TH-cam.
More will come - I plan to release one per week alongside my regular content :)
Great analysis. Bruno goated
Probably one of the best analyses I ve ever seen on utube..congrats!!..I ve learnt a lot.
Love❤love❤love❤
would this be the same technique that jeff buckley often uses in things like the higher louder parts of lover you should’ve come over?
Yes :)
@ that’s really cool, is there a limit to how high i can go with curbing? and if so is there any way to adjust the sound to go past that limit?
Well, it's very hard to maintain the metallic sound above E5, so by then you'll probably be stuck with Neutral in Reduced Density (ie. Curbing but without the metal). If you have the right vowel and a bright sound colour, it is not too hard to take that up to A5 or so. Above there, it gets complicated.
Your voice is so beautiful ❤🎉🎉🎉
Love this❤ learn for leader worship .Thailand❤
I really need to learn ❤
I can teach you if you like :)
❤
Cry mix at 1:26? :D It was so perfectly executed <3
Just cry register actually :P
<3
Hell yes. Time to blast this out my window so my whole street can hear it 😝
That F2/H3 is hella good ❤ (if I’m not mistaken, it sounds like that tuning to my ears)
What register is this?
Oh shiiiiiiii
Stop please...
Could you tell me which of the four vocal modes are used in the final sentences? The tone seems noticeably different from the earlier parts.
All four, but mostly Edge and Overdrive. To be honest though I don't think it will be very feasible to achieve this kind of singing using a modes-based approach. Have you seen my video comparing registers to modes? th-cam.com/video/GVj4N4yASlI/w-d-xo.html
@VoiceStudioEast thank you😀
I just realised you may have been referring to the part after the climax, ie. the last three phrases, rather than the climax itself. Those are sung mostly in falsetto.
@VoiceStudioEast yes, falsetto. It seems that the CVT book I'm reading doesn't include any teaching on falsetto. I hope to learn from you.
@@VoiceStudioEast “Mostly”?
Great performance!
Epic, indeed...lol Cornelius

Amazing!!! Your register transitions are smooth like 🧈.
Wow, what a great performance, I wish I could sing like you 💯💯💯
👏🏻👏🏻
Linda interpretación, make more covers. 🤩🤩🤩
Love me some LOTR. Lovely cover!
you have such a clear way of explaining singing, it's out of competition!
Hi Cornelius, when i sing in breathy falsetto I find it quite exhausing. I don't mean running out of air quicker, rather my voice just feels like it's been through a workout. I dont think im straining though... Do you think im doing something wrong or does it just take practice for the voice to get used to breathy falsetto?
Thank you so much! You're amazing!
