My name's White Slice, and I'm trying to learn some freestyle windsurfing moves.
I can't do many at the moment, and they're all pretty difficult, so subscribe to watch me fall in, break my kit and hurt myself on my quest to memorise the tricktionary!

Brouwersdam Freestyle Session: Flaka + Speed Loop Training!
มุมมอง 22216 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
First time sailing at this world renowned freestyle spot! It was a Northerly wind instead of the ideal SW, so we weren't able to go in the pooltje, which is the best spot for freestyle. Luckily there's still plenty of flat water in the main body of Brouwersdam. We didn't have quite as much wind as expected but still had a good time! Best front loops ever?! Tonky Frans windsurfing in Bonaire
มุมมอง 5K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Look at the height on those front loops! Last winter I was lucky enough to see Tonky Frans in action on the water in Bonaire. It was completely flat yet he was stomping some of the biggest and cleanest front loops I've ever seen. If you're looking to learn to loop, or improve your technique, this video is a must watch!! Can I still windsurf? New gear + back in Vass!
มุมมอง 4.7K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
It's been 4 months since I set foot on a board 🤯 Felt super rusty and dropped a lot of tacks but glad to get back out on the water again. I've got some new gear as well - I'm using a 4.4 duotone idol and a 91L duotone skate. The sail feels really nice and powerful and I can't wait to get some more time on it. Just a short session/edit as I still can't windsurf for too long. I'm slowly regaining...

The best spocks I've ever done?! Vasiliki freestyle windsurfing - 4k drone footage
มุมมอง 2.9Kปีที่แล้ว
I'm finally starting to get the hang of spocks! After training for this move for about a year, I'm now making it all the way around the majority of the time. Some of them are even starting to feel slidey and I've almost planed out of one or two. I'm still finding the 540 version easier at the moment, and I hope to have a go at the diablo exit soon. If I can land one of those I'll consider the S...

Wetsuit dryer, total game changer for winter sailing. Dry suit every session
Very true. Do you have the one built into the hanger? I used to have the “dry buddy” which is actually for drying laundry. But it worked great with wetsuits and is much cheaper!
What if you have all 10 already?🤔
There’s always time for another lesson at surf school!
The Tricktionary book was my favourite on the list, so much great info in that book, still learning from it to this day! Also No.10 is a worthy investment 😉
I agree, the tricktionary is a game changer. So much knowledge for less than £50!
Looks like a great spot. Nice to be able to park car so close to the water.
Those long, sweeping windfoil gybes are a joy to behold!
@@Jaawws1 I agree. Very graceful!
Yehhhh🙌🙌🙌
@@Cookiesports 🔥🔥
I try hard to practice fast tack in light or windy day in flat water. Finally I made a carve tack with 3.7m2 and 82l.Then I still improve it in both side. Now I can do it in a little troppy water. I still need more practice to do it on wave.
nice 🤗
Killing IT Like Always ! Bonaire Pride !!
May I ask, which sail size did you use?
I was there on Bonaire. The homeplace of Tonky Frans. Standing ‘knee-deep’ in the the water we had a nice chat. Very friendly guy. I was filming a bit with my GoPro. He made some great loops right in front of me. Incredible how he does that! No waves! Nothing! And his power jibes are soooo smooth.
He's one of the best riders out there but always has time for a chat. Top bloke
If i will use holder like this will cost camera in first 2 km. I😢 made much better holder and you use much thinner rope
@@vardenispavardenis2318 it doesn’t hold up very well for big freestyle crashes or wave sailing. But for straight line sailing it’s great 👍🏻
@@WhiteSliceMedia i sailing speed race in straight line
The problem is, you end up switch stance. If you practice this on land first, on your board in the wind, it would have saved you half of your time. Always practice on land first. Wing handling and feet!
I agree. No problem being switch stance, sometimes we gybe or tack out of it or simply switch the feet after. We did do some land practise to get a feel for the switch stance position, which definitely helped speed up the learning process 👍🏻
Very good video. One question: Who was controlling the drone? Or was it not controlled at all but was it in tracking mode?
I am flying the drone. My friend is the one learning to gybe!
you tried the "hardest jibe" :D. it's easier if you swap your feet before the jibe ;)
It's not like windsurfing, dont weight the back foot. Tell yourself over and over again, "weight on the front foot". Don't try to come all the way around quickly. Come out of the turn still going downwind more than you think you should. Enter the gybe low on the foil because you will rise when the wing is over your head. I don't switch feet until a while after I've completed the gybe.
No gloves to go with the boots?
Lovely spot great wing foiling terrible music
limited by the TH-cam audio library!
Fun - on the same gear more or less and at the same level - out here in the Gorge.
Is called Poacher for the reson 🙂
looks like a big double back strapped board and big sail too! very impressive on flat water
He makes it look easy no matter the gear. I think it's a 5.7 and ~110 litres. I imagine the big fin must give lots of pop.
At 1:10 you see the secret. 1) nose pointed almost downwind when he begins the rotation. 2) back hand at least 1' down the boom to the back. 3) tuck the tail up under your butt hard. You can do this on dead flat water if you're powered enough.
how windy was it? (knots)
Where is that? Looks beautiful (and flat)
2:05 😊
Be there in a week. Would you be so kind and order everyday wind please?
It doesn't looklike their is enough wind.
It's that white boi
1.) Lean forward, yes lean more forward 2.) Handle the wing over your head like a pizza 3.) bend you knees and carve into the jibe 4.) let go the wing with one hand 5.) still carving and look where you wanna go! 6.) have fun! ;)
4.5) move wing to the outside of the turn so it doesn’t backwind in your face. This was the key point for Jesse 👍🏻
I saw him doing front loops back in 2000 as a teenager. His front loop was not as smooth but he had higher jump. It was totally awesome.
I think the secret is to pull the boom against your chest during the entire rotation - but of course I stll couldn't do it
How does he pop out of the water with no ramp? Can someone tell me how to do it?
Put back your hand back. Not too hard to do but well finished. Vidar Jensen was the best with one or no hand. Mike Eskimo was doing no hand killer loop.
the size of the sail was 5.4?
yep 😅
Abs agree, good luck and these attached are not even one of his better ones :D Tonky is the best!
Super you can really see that back hand go way back, after hooking out
Go Tonky! Let’s go!
I'm jealous! I'm a windsurfing foiler and it took me many sessions (like a few dozen) to get to the point where I could pull off anything resembling a decent foil jibe.
It’s tricky on the windsurf foil! Everyone learns at different speeds - Jesse picked it up super fast
Despite all the modern freestyle moves which seem incredible, clean fast loops still can split the top guys, not all of them can do them so well
I agree - tonky is a league above!
Definitely the best flat water spinloop in the world
The guy’s a wizard!
Later this season?
I hope so!
goood job, no board leash and where is this beautiful spot ?
Forgot the leash this day 😭 it’s vasiliki!
That’s me!
What gear?
Your foil breaches in the jibe are a consolation to me, I do exactly the same mistake!
I remember them as well. It'll come with time!
😊k joy
Tnx dude🤙🏻
no worries, thanks for letting me use the footage!
Smashed it 💪
he learned it quicker than I did!
Nice surprise ! We re coming to Vassiliki in 10 days. The thermal afternoon winds are already there ?
Yeah we've had a few good days! Mainly winging weather so far though.
Rippin' with swagger. 🤙 Nice gear!
Thanks! New gear feels great 👍🏻
AHHH YEAH!
