One year after opening Unreal 5 for the first time I finally got my first showreel done. The point of this showreel is to show what i can do in terms of building environments for example movie productions. Animations is mainly there för giving some more life to the environments. I did the environment building and layout, editing, modelling of the lighthouse, Earth, moon and Mars, Niagara simula...

looks absolute fantastic. btw your reel on your website: i think, your reel in the beginning looks okayish, but fantastic after then. maybe shorten to only 1 minute?
first 10 second of your reel (including the title) is a turn off. further 10 seconds okayish. but then totally fantastic

Even if try to replicate a smaller version of this scene, my bloody pc would crash just by simply adding a mass textureless landscape that huge. ( Forget about attempting to enable the landscape nanite )

Photo realism games is the next big thing for graphics. Next gen consoles will probably be pushing a lot of games that look like this to sell consoles. Hopefully pc can get some photo realistic games sooner. Pretty exciting. This is what I dreamed games would be like when I was a kid playing ps1. It's going to be incredibly immersive.
The fact that this can be a video game is a dream come true.

@@jaseallen6042 AI can use this software and essentially remove the artists and these worlds will be infinite. All it would need is a storyline and proofreading which is playing through of the finished product.

They lowered the bar to game making to anyone who can read a manual. And it WILL be used to dump a ton load of crap onto Steam.
This short film is an example of linear work in Unreal that can be used for scene extensions, virtual productions etc, not intended to be a game :)
