Hi, I'm Pauline, I hope you like my videos which are mostly from our normal size sloping garden in Warsash Hampshire.
I’m an organic no dig wildlife gardener (and occasional artist) based in the South of England, UK 🇬🇧
When I'm not covered in soil I like to help people get into gardening for nature, sharing advice and resources online and giving talks to gardening clubs.
Sometimes we find insects on our boat Bumblebee.
We love The Netherlands 🇳🇱 and sail across from the UK meeting nature on route and at their nature reserves.

Watering plant pots when away from home💧
These large Ecover washing up liquid bottles are perfect because the whole is already in the cap. Just remove the lid fill with water hold your finger on the hole upside down and push into the soil. There will then be a very slow drip straight to the base of the shrub.

The amazing thing about these pictures is the fact that nothing has been done to the planting in over a decade. Initially the sedum Angelina became the prominent Plant and out competing all of the sempervivums. But now the overall winner is sedum Surim which is vigourous matforming semi evergreen with amazing pink flowers which the butterflies in the bumblebees and other pollinators love. I do ...
Looking at seeds digitally.

Just showing you seeds under the digital microscope and using a magnifier with a battery light and then looking at the viability of the seeds. It’s often interesting to see what it’s been fertilised and if any wildlife is still in the seeds or has eaten the seeds. Here this is, geranium pretence seeds which are a lovely kidney shape. And as you can see one is viable meaning it is able to germin...

Fascinating
Amazing when you use a magnifier 😍🔎🔎🔎🔎
I must do this.
@@wildlifegardener-tracey6206 it’s so simple well worth it !
Beautiful ❤ 😊
@@suzannewilliams3673 Thankyou 💚🦋💚
I'll try that in my path it is blue brick but plants love self seeding in it.
@@wildlifegardener-tracey6206 Sounds lovely ! It seems to be the specific tiny leaved creeping red Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) that stands the extreme temperatures 💚 the larger leaf just burns up, I’m still trialling them.
They're a stunner. I video one entering a wasp nest in my neighbour's roof last year. One in the garden again but no wasps sadly.
Fabulous observing that, I'm sure you already know but that's were they lay their eggs and where the larvae grow.
Collected Wild carrot Daucus carota and a small amount of Yellow rattle Rhinanthus minor yesterday.
Nice. Two perfect pollinator plants. Folk often only think of YR for reducing grass but it's so much more than that.
Such low numbers this year. From having a nest last year in my neighbour's bay to one or twointhe garden this summer.
Its now there and obvious for everyone to witness, heartbreaking but we remain committed.
Thats grest footage. Had our first one of this year in the garden yesterday.
Fantastic! A great sign of top down insect biodiversity.
Brilliant
TY. Wonderful garden habitat for her 💚🌍🌱

Super Pantalloon Bee in Real Life! SPAGHETTI!
Wow! That's the best thing I've ever seen in my whole life!!
Isn’t it great ! 🐝💚🌎
That is definitely one of the best things I've ever seen! Such perfect little pantaloons. 🐝
Aren’t they amazing ! I’m glad you enjoyed the footage 🐝💚🇳🇱
How wonderful 😊
Low old small houses with wide eaves perfect for the mud nests and lots of trees full of insects . So wonderful ! 😍🇳🇱
I believe those are sweat bees I have a large area in my yard where they burrow every year attracted to. Aren't they wonderful!
These are similar but see the females long hair on the legs like pantaloons, also they are quite big bees. Halictid is much smaller - like you I have them 🐝💚🇬🇧
Wow nice video 😊
Thankyou ! Yours also fab 🐝

Well HELLO mummy 😂

Did the spider get one? If so, did the hive sense this and attack?
Hi, great question, thanks!💚I never saw the nursery spider succeed. Bumblebees definitely sense vibrations and also have huge eyes but I do sometimes see them caught by crab spiders in the garden. Crab spiders are ambush spiders like this spider, they lay in wait and don't use webs to catch prey. (Just for your info' - Only honey bees have hives, which are maintained by humans). Vibrations play a big part in insect life.

It is an excellent book and Steven Falk has an amazing Flikr account too.
He does but I prefer all the reference books it gives so much more detail. The internets algorithms hijack everything. So much rubbish out there. 📖📚📒 can’t beat a reference book 🤓🔎
It is such a beautiful animal ❤
Utterly beautiful, we are like minded.
That was amazing! Well captured.
Thanks ! Quite lucky , bit of a shock !🐸
It's been sociology not seen one yet in our garden. The Golom of flies. 💚

Great camerawork Pauline 👍 are you harvesting the frogs to eat? I wouldn’t eat the Toadlet personally, suppose to have a much gamier taste than frogs 🐸

it's called maintenance, saves on repair.
Burned weeds stay gone for about….48 hours.
Yes it looked pretty useless waste of time money and heating the planet but at least not chemicals These just looked scorched
It's just weeds 😅😅😅
Lol
Because it looks a horrible mess and it makes the bricks in the pavers rise. Trip hazard. Tragic????
Yes 💚
Are they ladybird larvae?
Yes spot on 🐞🐞🐞 hundreds on ever dog rose under ever tree on both sides of the canal ! Incredible 💚🐞💚🐞💚

absolutely amazing that you've got 3 nests! I remember reading in Ken Thompson's wildlife gardening book ('No Nettles Required') and he said how hard it is to attract bumbles. I hoped they might go in my compost/brash heap but no cigar. My parents have some nesting in an old wood mouse hole, beneath their privet hedge. Congratulations :)
How interesting about your parents nests 💚🐝 simply wonderful. I think there’s 3 main things , no digging / disturbance and no chemicals and a wide variety of habitats - you will do really well I’m certain of that 💚🌏 x
