    With all respect you forgot to explain v12 : Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test" Satan tested the son why is it about God sudainly.. Most important how could God be tested by any creature and in this case the most vile of all the creation, the devil himself! This is imposible and far away from His Perfection and would never happen

    I have to disagree with you at 2:50. The Bible does give specific calculations for times...in numerous verses but a major one in the old testament is when the messiah would come Daniel 9 25 25“Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, f the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble. 26After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. g The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. 27He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven. And we are not suppose to know the exact day or hour but surely we should know the "season" Matthew 16 2He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,’ 3and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times

    Why is there such stress about Halloween? When Xtianity got traction after Theodosius handed them the keys to the kingdom, so to speak, they rampaged throughout the Roman empire and then Northern/Eastern Europe, burning out the pagans and shoving a sword in their faces with the demand to "convert" or die. They paid you back by worshipping as before, but now called it "Christian", infecting your "faith" with all manner of pagan stuff. Those are now called "Christmas" and "Easter."

  • @kavikv.d.hexenholtz3474
    @kavikv.d.hexenholtz3474 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Modern Halloween as we know it today is just that - a modernly invented ‘holiday’ combining elements of an earlier American tradition called “Hell Night”, along with a healthy dose of good old “Hollywood” thrown in for good measure. Virtually _all_ American customs associated with Halloween originated right around the 1920’s - 1930’s or so. While there are some vestigial elements from pre-Christian religions in some of the customs (the "apple" traditions - bobbing for apples for example, but that's from the Romans, not the Celts) , the modern costumes, the blood, the gore, the reveling in death and destruction, the candy, even ‘trick or treat’ itself, dates no earlier than 1900’s America. In short, it’s a relatively new phenomenon and represents a mix of cultures, capitalism, and accommodation. Many people seem to associate modern Halloween with three things: The old Celtic New Year’s celebration of Samhain (in asserting that most of Halloween’s customs can be traced to Samhain celebrations); Satanism (asserting that Halloween’s origins are Satanic as evidenced by the many Satanists who use this day to promote their beliefs); and All Saints Day (asserting that the early church established the holiday to “Christianize” Samhain). Upon a more critical examination however, these associations fall more into the categories of wishful thinking and urban legend than actual historical fact. It's simply not a holiday that has close ties to the ancient past, nor does it have some ‘pagan’ antecedent, nor is a continuation of several ancient customs, as some would have one believe. Perhaps the most difficult aspect of researching the various origins, traditions, and, ‘assumed truths’ about Halloween, is sifting through all the data and separating historical _fact_ from historical ‘myth’, ‘(urban) legend’, and fiction. What we find, is that the origin of most Halloween traditions/beliefs comes from latter (historical fiction), rather than the former (historical fact). All three holidays, Halloween, All Saint’s Day, and Samhain share a common date and perhaps a “feeling”, but that’s really about it. Indeed, so much of Halloween “feels” Pagan that attempts to connect those things to ancient Samhain simply “feels right”. Contrary to what some would have one believe, the Bible does not say _anything_ about Halloween - passages are typically cherry-picked, often completely out of context, and applied to a preconceived notion about Halloween based more on myths, legends, outright nonsense, and misconceived assumptions, than actual historical fact. When one participates in Halloween, one is not participating in ‘evil’ or ‘death’ per se; rather one of the points of the modern holiday is to mock these things. I think that’s a major point many people seem to completely miss or not quite understand. In a way, it’s remotely akin to the Medieval “Feast of Fools”. From a Christian viewpoint, it can be said that death is mocked, because Christ conquered death. On another philosophical/psychological level, it allows people to explore their “darker side/psyche”, if you will. A time to explore a side of themselves they would not normally expose or perhaps even consider. It’s a part of being human. A time to play on a few of the basic/core fears of man - fear of the dark, and fear of death - the aspects of these fears that people just don’t like to think about are now exposed for all to ‘see’ and ‘experience’. A sort of annual self-check to make sure that part of our humanity is still there, so to speak. In the end, most people realize it for what it is. Samhain/Halloween is to some people a very spiritual and magickal time of the year; for some it’s a time of fun and candy, perhaps a way to celebrate Fall in general. Still for others, perhaps a time to contemplate their own mortality since the modern holiday mocks death. Some perhaps are not quite sure what to make of it and prefer to steer clear of it, but however you wish to celebrate it….or not - Halloween is only ‘evil’ if one chooses to make it so.

    Hi Pastor Josh, I was wondering in one or two years from now the government says there will be no gathering of the church and covid still going on. Still we would obey and respect?

    • @LWAChurch
      @LWAChurch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a really good question. I don’t have an answer! As I said in the video, it’s important to resist the urge to act today on speculations about the future. I wrestle with this-how long do we stop gathering for? Especially if it becomes unnecessary? All I can really say is that we need wisdom to discern. The Scripture is the same, of course, yet our insight into the reasoning behind what’s going on may change. It’s possible that in 1-2 years we see things about our situation that we don’t see now... so my plan is to continue to pray and assess as we go! Also, even though I have preached here what I see in the Scripture, I know I’ll still wrestle with it as we go. May God give us wisdom!! And may it not continue that long!

    Hi Pastor Josh, I always wondered about heaven look like right now. According John 14:2 it's a city where Jesus is working. Preparing a place for us. So when we are ready to go there, our house, or condo, or palace is ready. Also is a Paradise! Because Jesus told the Barrabas," today you will be in a Paradise with mi" But in Luke 16:23-24 Lazarus is in Abraham's side. And I hear preachers that when someone dies go to Abraham's side. Question: Abraham's side is the Paradise? And in Apocalypse 21:2 it says that the new Jerusalem come down. That is the town where Jesus was working before? I know there is many questions that we don't need to know right now. Just believe. Blessings,

    • @LWAChurch
      @LWAChurch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Heaven is Paradise, the presence of God. We know that when we die, we go immediately to be with the Lord in the spirit. It seems that that realm will fully come down to earth after the end, after we're resurrected. John had some amazing glimpses of the Throne Room of God, and at the end of his Revelation, the Heavenly City came down to earth. Amazing! We can't see it all clearly now, but that's why we walk by faith. Amen!

    Well stated. I might also add that biblical systematic tithes were taxes, not gifts, and they were facilitated through ceremonial and civil ordinances under Mosaic Law that are now obsolete. There was never a biblical tithe received from earned wages, New Testament, or Old. We are free to give without limits or any set minimum, money or otherwise, as we are able and directed, and giving is central to the Christian worldview. But we are not "bound to pay" as some would have us believe. God is interested in your heart, not your wallet. Blessings in your giving!

    NOTE ON MEDITATION: I mentioned meditation in the video. That doesn’t mean the meditation from yoga and things like that where you cross your legs and moan “ohm” and empty your mind. Christian meditation is the opposite! If you do a quick bible search of meditate, you’ll see that meditation in the biblical sense refers to dwelling on God’s word, soaking in it, mentally chewing on it, etc. It is a filling instead of an emptying! That’s what I mean 😃 - Pastor Josh

    This is really good information thank you Pastor Josh! It reminds me of something I heard on life 100.3 this morning; when you are talking to new Christians you don’t ask them if they were beaten into the kingdom, you often hear of the love and kindness that was shown to them by Christians before they were a believer. We need to have a jesus like attitude because people don’t conform or come to faith by us judging them and being cruel to them for their life choices
