Gopher at Gizdich

While having pie in the backyard of "world famous" Gizdich Ranch, I spotted some unnatural twitching of the grass. Turns out to have been a gopher nibbling. (If you listen carefully, you can hear gnawing.) The video captures the moment the entire stalk is sucked below ground in a flash. Unusual lightning storm over Monterey Bay, CA (Aug 14, 2020). Video was taken at 5:53 AM, so it begins rather dark and gradually lightens with the approaching sunrise. The only audio is surf & birds.
