My only good decision years ago was building our own home with my asawa. No rent to ever worry about. Just drive to Manila or take P2P bus and stay at any airbnb condo once a month. Then you don't need that much money. Make sure your US health insurance will reumburse you in the Philippines and always file your tax returns with a US mailing address. Keep your US phone or make sure your US number handels bank approved SMS. The Philippine banks actually do verification better here with OTPs sent to your email. Enjoy the wonderful country of the Philippines and forget the material possession obsession of America. Nobody cares here in the Philippines.

Condo developers in the Philippines are insane. The prices now are unbelievable. Shang Properties is set to put up Shang Summit in QC which is expected to be the tallest condo tower in the Philippines. They said that they want their properties to be accessible for everyone, but priced it at 10.4 - 11.6 million ( Pre-selling price ). What? Do they mean accessible to foreigners?! Prices are ridiculouos. Thailand is economically better and cheaper.

BGC is peaceful and clean at early morning unlike Newyork, many homeless and garbages scattered around.

3,000 USD living in BGC could only last for a month. But if you live in the province outside of Metro Manila and not the provinces that borders Metro Manila (e.g. Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Bulacan), your 3,000 USD can stretch longer, most probably 6 months or even longer depending on the cost of living of its province.

If you want to live for just 1k US dollars or less in a month, just rent an apartment outside BGC but near to this place, walking distance only 🎉

Uptown district is an expensive place to live in. any megaworld projects are expensive.

Eto ang mga problema ng pinas kaya konti lang ang mga foreign tourists at hindi sila nagtatagal sa ating bansa: 1. Rampant Corruption in government and public. 2. Very very very few modern infrastructures. 3. No modern transportation 4. No modern airport 4. Mahina or walang internet 5. Nawawalan ng kuryente (brownout) 5. Mahina or nawawalan or walang tubig 6. Nakawan at kikilan sa NAIA airport 7. EXPENSIVE accomodations 8. Maraming patayan, kriminal, nakawan, mandurukot, snatchers, kidnappers , drug addicts at mga pushers 9. Mga ganid na taxi at tricycle drivers over-charging/scamming foreign tourists 10. Mga basura or litters sa kalye at mga bangketa. Mga pinoy wala talagang disiplina. Kahit saan tayo nagtatapon ng mga basura/ litters natin. 11. Pati sa mga beach, dagat, gubat at bundok may mga basura din..mga plastic bottles, plastik supot, wrappers at kung ano ano pang mga litter/garbage. 12. Mga illegal vendors sa kalsada/bangketa, may vendor din sa gitna ng badian canyon, panglao sandbar at mga bangkang vendor sa dagat ng el nido at coron. Kaya madumi at maraming mga basura sa ating mga kapaligiran at kalikasan. MAGTINDA KAYO SA TAMANG LUGAR. 13. Illegal squatters, street dwellers and beggars everywhere, particularly children asking money from foreigners. Tapos sasabihin natin "Its more fun in the Phlippines" ??? Nakakahiya ! Tourism will boost our local economy kasi foreigners spend money in our country which helps our local business to earn more. The local and national government MUST do something to solve/fix these problems.

You just want to live there with your fellow farangs, it's way more than expensive, it's the Beverly Hills and Times Square of the Philippines. If you go to the other places, $1500 is more comfortable to budget.

Why anybody would want to “barely survive in BGC” is completely beyond me . Take your 3000 and bring it to one of many other spots in the Philippines where the Filipino culture is still intact, the locals are genuine and welcoming, and that money will go a longer way.

I previously lived in the heart of Cebu City and spent time each month traveling down south Cebu as well as to other islands throughout the year and did not even spend $3,000 USD per month. And I damn sure as hell did not experience any type of suffering whatsoever, nor was I ever walking around with a case of blue balls!!!
