I remember Sergeant Major Vines when we were in Oki. He had Staff Sergeant’s at attention or parade rest for anything lol.

This guy sounds like some blowhard lifer who wouldn't last 5 minutes outside the Corps. From what I've read about him he's nothing but a bully. I got out after my first enlistment because of this type of Marine.

He was my SgtMaj for a while at S.O.I. West Camp Pendelton permanent personal H&S Batallion. Best piece of advice.... Dont say ooh-rah to him as a proper greeting. Big mistake!!!

This was my Sgt Maj. There were not any like him. This one was mine. Semper Fi Sgt Maj Vines, wherever you are now, you made a huge difference in the most decorated unit in the Corps.

*There's NOTHING like being marched by someone with "Soul Power" in their cadence. All that "murder, death, kill" stuff gets old after a while, but when the caller puts some seasoning on the bars........EPIC.!!!*

The day walker, I was in SOI, when he as the Sgt major of the 52 area, I’ve seen him March platoons and chew marines out. God amongst men. A marines marine.

I had this hard charger for company gunny and first sergeants, about 2.5 years worth. If you ever met him before, you can only imagine what we Marines endured and euphemisms we heard! Some funny shit! And he had us doing push ups all the time, because he could do them all damn day! He did dips and pull-ups with 2 45 pound plates strapped to a belt, and his arm position was about another 18 inches wider the shoulder width on pull-ups! But I tell you what, his singing would give you the chills and motivate the Hell out of you! Other units were envious were it came hump time! We did a 107 mile hump in 5 days from Lake Hemet, CA to Camp Pendleton. Our regimental commander was this British guy, former Royal Marine as well, I think. Col. Miller. Anyways, Vines heard me doing my chef Julia Child impressions a made me do it for the colonel. I said please don't make me do that! He said git yo ass up there and do that for the colonel right now! I did it, and Col. Miller was quite amused, and I rushed my relieved ass back to my position in the ranks!

I had the pleasure to drive to NC and back to Ca with SgtMaj Vines.

Outstanding Sgtmaj. He was my Sgtmaj at SOI Camp Pendleton. They called him The Day Walker.

Just had the ol lady listen to some USMC cadences on another show.... Was pretty clean compared to what is actually heard in the Marines.

He was a gunny in 93 at MCRD when I went to boot camp. He could lock your ass up from a half mile away. I think he was the regimental drill master.

Oh boy, this guy is the biggest douche there is. The day walker lives but shunned. He sucks as a leader, if you are known for berating Marines in front of everyone and actually avoids you then you suck.
