In 2024 I only got the 24 stripe sock yarn advent from Cozy Knitter and Woolens and Nosh. The big yarn calendars are too much for me. I have so much yarn I decided I didn't want any more of that kind of advent. I thought the tools advents were a great idea but as you say, there are things in them you just aren't interested in or don't want. Soooo, for 2025 I am getting together a list of things that I do want or am lacking in my tools, (I am a knitter, crocheter, spinner, and sewer). My list is including 30-35 items for her to chose from. I am giving this list to my daughter, along with the money, for her to purchase, wrap and number so I don't know specifically what is going to be in it. Then I will have an advent of things that I would really want to have. And I can have fun opening each day.

Good for you! I have been clearing out of lots of things not needed and in good shape. We have a great ministry here called Steps to Hope. It's like a big goodwill. I will be working on yarn this year too. I have found and enjoy A Slob Comes Clean on TH-cam that has been helping me to more forward! You have very nice selections in your keep pile. Will be watching your scrappy episodes now. haha!

I donated several trash bags of yarn to my local humane society. They have a lady who crochets baskets for the cats and blankets for the dogs. I felt bad because I felt I wasted money on the yarn, but I also felt it was donated to a worthwhile cause.

I’m so glad you are doing the Swifty mittens! I found them recently and I plan to make them for a friend of mine for Christmas 2025. Please show us updates as you go along making them because I will be curious to hear about your experience, making them.

Patons is also on Yarnspirations, but Webs has more color and weight options and it can work out cheaper if I buy enough to get their discount. I was already doing this anyway since Joann hasn't had Patons lately and Michaels never did have much color selection.

Yes to more of these videos. I love the fan sweater, and the house blanket - I've loved that since it went viral during the pandemic. I just am not sure I'd like knitting in segments as necessary. I have knit quite a few scrappy projects - sweaters included. I tend to collect types of yarn from my textile center garage sale that I store until I have enough to knit a sweater - stripes often and colourwork definitely (I've been lucky to score several cone of wool for $2 a cone and have knit 2 sweaters per cone with multi colourwork projects. I knit a sweater from advent yarns (I do swaps with friends each year) and I just picked a raglan sweater I liked and knit it as a striped sweater....

These are great ideas! For the bulky and worsted projects, you can double or triple your fingering/sport/DK yarn to get it to the gauge you need, and use up even more scraps!😊

Yes to selfish knit! I mostly knit for myself😅 You can always start of by setting a goal of knitting one project a month for yourself - I know that Oline from The Norwegian Knitter, here on yt, started to do that earlier this year, I believe 😄

If I giftknit for Christmas, it is usually only a single thing. Though it's been quite large last year and this year - as my brother is getting a blanket and got one last year😅 Otherwise I perhaps giftknit a few times a year, but mainly I snit for myself😂
