Sydney Squid Catch and Cook - Thai Cooking
Gday and welcome to another video, this one doesn't have much fishing in it as it was quite off Sydney this morning but still went home with four Squid and a legal kingfish and we get to share our Thai Squid in Chilli sauce recipe.
My Fiancé Candy is a wizard in the kitchen and this recipe is a simple thai dish that tastes amazing!!

Hey mate love the video, what’s the biggest king you have put on the bricks down there?
Thanks for watching and glad you liked it! It was one of first TH-cam videos! 1m Is the biggest I’ve landed there mate
Pls bro I luv yr video n can u share location so that I can put some food on the table pls bro
What lures are those?
@@javierthomas8008 thanks for watching mate! All the lures used on that boat are all Tantrum lures mate
Are there leeches in there
Thanks for watching mate! No never seen a leech there!
Hi could you please give us a run down on the model of rod reel and line your using in the video tia
Thanks for watching mate! Sure I use a Diawa BG 18000, PE 8 cast braid and a shimano terez pe 5-8 rod with 100lb fluorocarbon leader and 7/0-8/0 mustard hodlum hooks
Fantastic video. What speed are you trolling please ? I’m heading there next months
@@NotArobot85 thanks for watching! I troll just in gear, so as slow as the boat will go. Most guys up there use electrics which I don’t have but as you can see you don’t need one
@@Theweaponfishing thanks dude . Very helpful information I can’t wait to give it a crack
hey mate what size boat do you take out there and what sort of conditions are you comfortable with it in? cheers!
Thanks for watching mate!! My boat is a 6.35m! It can handle most conditions but the conditions will always depend on the users experience and also what the bait can handle! I use to go out there in a 4.75 alloy boat but you have to check multiple weather forecasts and monitor the real time conditions! If it’s starting to blow and it’s getting stronger head home always better to be safe than sorry. My rule is if it’s going to blow NE later in the day head north east and then come home with the wind for a easier ride hime
@@Theweaponfishing what is the max wind and swell you would go out on ther in that 4.75 allow boat
U are a weapon ok
Great vid mate .. what happened to the rest of it?
Thanks glad you liked it mate, standard GoPro malfunction unfortunately
Thank you for sharing your fishing outfit
No worries mate, thanks for watching the video!!
Dam I mias fishing for these in aus. Back in the uk now after my travels. Quality stuff will keep following use. Dropped you a new sub. 😊
Cheers mate! I’ll check out some of your vids tonight! Kings are probably my favourite for sure! I subscribed to your channel too mate
Would love to see more of these clips off the rocks.do you remember what size float it was
Thanks for watching mate and appreciate the comments!! Sure mate autumn is good off the rocks if I can get time I’ll go and try make another one! Not sure on the float size but I can find out when I get home back to Sydney mate
@@Theweaponfishing cheers for that im getting sick of the shitty plain floats that like snagging up on the swivel.
Hey mate the float is 1g Korean made floats they use for iso fishing! Good quality and well balanced floats I get mine in Sydney at Global Tackle maroubra
@@Theweaponfishing ahh sweet thankyou for remembering this.everytime i ask someone they dont speak clear english or none at all

Hey mate would really appreciate if you could let me know the spot you went. Thanks.
Thanks for watching mate! Camped at Denison Camp ground and fishing my way up stream to get away from the crowds
Mate you serious bout taking out for free for a session? Im keen! im on northern beaches but happy to travel!
Geez mate, great to see Lake Lyell sort of back to catching only trout & not Redfin! I miss its glory days of the 1990’s & early 2000’s. I only ever caught trout there back then.
Thanks for watching mate!! Yeah it’s the best trip I’ve had there in years good to catch only trout for once
@@Theweaponfishing You should give Thompsons Creek dam a try, there’s some quality trout there! Although it’s only land based, no boats allowed
@@tightlines6641 yeah went up there for the arvo jumped off a good rainbow but the amount of giant browns I saw that wouldn’t eat was pretty frustrating
@@Theweaponfishing i feel your pain mate, yeah those browns at TCD are pretty cunning although I have managed to catch a few cracking ones there over the years!
Ive done well there with a float and live nippers
Thanks for watching mate!! It’s a top spot hey. When it’s windy the top water stick baits go well too
I fish these with 10 pound and still lose some big ones , 6 definitely to light for me , lovely eating fish . 👍
Thanks for watching mate! 6 is a challenge but when they are quite you definitely catch more fish! Light drag and long soft rod helps
@@Theweaponfishing … Thanks buddy , the rod I use is a bit stiff so probably a big factor for sure , I’ll change that next time , I’ll try again in calmer conditions as well. Definitely a challenge for sure on light line , the rewards are even sweeter when you land them . 👍
@@fishmut go to tackle world and pick up a dedicated blackfish rod they do estuary and rock it will help to fish lighter and catch way more fish 8lb is a perfect leader size to start
Use daiwa J thread FC 10lb, super strong and can lift 40cm models no problem and fight drummer up to 42cm
I know the spot but where is that ladder?
Thanks for watching mate!! It’s around 3/4 of the way out the point it’s hard to see but it’s before little greenie
Why would anyone want to catch a stupid Mako shark or any shark is beyond me thats not gamefishing.
I’ve never fished for sharks but it was a shark tournament! The mako still put on a good show, I try to experience as many forms of fishing as I can and share with others! If you didn’t like it all good mate
@@TheweaponfishingI loved it and am targeting mako this season 🎉👍
@@Robertye112 thanks for watching mate and good luck hope you get one!!!
Where abouts did you fish I want the exact place to test out and is it good to fish there now if not where should I fish for kingfish now?
Greetings from the beach on Kiawah island South Carolina USA . Well done boys ! ✌️
Thanks for watching mate!! Good to see some USA viewers too! South Carolina looks like a top spot too
@@Theweaponfishing lots of tuna up here .
damn thats sick bro! do u know of how i can get on sea fishing in sydney?
There are plenty of good fishing charters out of Sydney mate!
Hi mate ! love this video here - just out of curiosity, how did you tie your second fly hook to the line of your alvey setup ?
Hey mate, thanks for subscribing and watching!! My main line (either braid or mono) has a float stopper then my float, small sinker, then tie main line to small swivel using a uni knot. The I tie my leader 6-8 pound Leader with a uni knot, the small split shots sinkers then tie a uni know to my small blackfish hook. I only use one hook not two.
Hi On your mate’s first few fishes you’ve got a jig and bait on the same line, what’s your purpose with the jig while you’re fishing with bait? And has it been successful with the intended purpose?
Hi mate, thanks for watching! No reason other than I left my sinkers in the car 😂
How do you work this squid you got on your float, do you retrieve it back or let it drift iut
Just let the float drift out and the squid alive or a dead bait doesn’t matter with squid mate
Is this at the botany bay wide fad?
12 mile mate! Thanks for watching
What is that
One thing Kingfish can not resist squid dead or live.
100%!! they were eating squid strips, heads and yakkas and live squid till the bait tank was empty
Awesome stuff! Pity some people have no manners - see someone on a fish and get in their face. Ah well, joys of big city fishing.
On July and august 25 to 35km offshore from botany it's enough to catch one??
Thanks for watching, yes it is possible but it all depends on the currents and water temperature
Fan of your videos well done boys 🤙👍
@@feriveysi7399 thanks for your support mate

Can you get them land based here?
Hey mate, unfortunately not anymore off Sydney! They use to catch big ones off places like Yellow rock in the 80s but the inshore Fin are no longer around! These fish were over 50km off shore! Thanks for watching mate
You need the chiller bag we use in Victoria on the barrel bluefin tuna mate
