This isn't anonymous and seems at risk of poisoning (not to mention that untrustworthy people absolutely can vouch for other sincerely, it's just hard to tell which are which). The part about being able to tell which accounts are legitimate, but that assumes the ID is verifiable... which I'm not certain of. At least if you stumble across one of their accounts you can still tell for sure which others they have. I don't really like that it's an app though. Phones are one of the biggest problems right now.

Plase check out Keyoxide and maybe cross-integrate it with FUTO ID? Like a keyoxide claim for futo and a futo claim for keyoxide? or maybe just an AriadneID client built right into FUTO ID?

Keep up with the pro-consumerism. I likely wont use this service (yet), but Immich is definitely the next best thing to a native photo viewerr and backup tool and I'm glad I discovered it

"Trust But Verify" the Game

If a claim can be "verified" by someone untrustworthy, which leads to your account being associated with that untrustworthy verification, how do you prevent people from abusing this? What if someone ranks up an untrustworthy status just to spam verify real people. Same thing for bots? How are they prevented from spam verifying anyone and anything?

So, how do I use this without a phone.

FUTO ID also can serve as a two-way recovery option in case if you get one or multiple accounts in an unrecoverable state. Example: you had 4 accounts connected to your FUTO ID. You forgot passwords of 3 of them, as well as for FUTO ID. But you still got 1 account intact. Firstly, you recover your FUTO ID by proving this account is yours and secondly you recover all other 3 accounts with FUTO ID. Magnificent. People lose their email addresses and phone numbers all the time. They're an unreliable way of recovering accounts. But there should be an option to register them as separate accounts, with an option to make them private. To be honest any account should have a public/private switch.

Idk if this is the case, but would be nice for this app to follow already existing standards, i.e gpg keys. An example is KeyOxide. so if this app supported that, it could integrate with other decentralized identity verifiers based on gpg.

On the one hand, this is everything I ever wanted - on the other hand this is scary since it requires basically one slipup to create a plethora of false verified claims. Also, I see potential for this to be used ina very distopian future. I am very sceptical and would like to know what and how the backbone works.

Great utility! However, since this is mostly meaningful if it's used for long term and by many, I wonder what recourse is there if you get hacked and your key is stolen, or if your phone breaks? Because it's certain that if used by masses for long enough, there will by many cases of issues like losing your key or losing it to someone.

The statement that this works for whistle-blowers doesn't make much sense to me. For a claim to be trusted, it will need to be verified by a real person in a position of authority on the topic. Which means, even if the person who set up the account is anonymous, the people who verify the claims won't be, and they can be easily identified and targeted by the organization they are whistle-blowing against. There are cryptographic ways to achieve such verification, but they do not require the use of Futo ID, so it's irrelevant. For example, sneaking an encrypted message into the machine code of an executable released by the organisation, then publicly releasing the key to decrypt the hidden message. I suppose the main thing Futo ID would be useful for is establishing and maintaining an identity _after_ it has been proven to real. It's not impossible to maintain such an identity without Futo ID, but it would hopefully make it a lot easier, especially for non-technical people.

Suggestion: it would be cool to have it available in the FUTO F-Droid repository and also not needing Google Play services for any feature. A completly independent app.

I was very disappointed with harbor. Im in a country where there is little awareness of open source and privacy and most here use Facebook for everything. I verified a YT channel for over 8 months or so and it never got verified because I don't know anyone. So its just for a bunch of people in rich countries where there are larger communities of people caring about free speech, open source and privacy.

Is FUTO also exploring decentralized ID, verified credentials, and other such technologies?
