Awesome, it was great to get you on video and run around (sort of) with you.

It's my sons car, 2014 High-Up 75PS blue motion, he's had it from new and has 15k miles on it. We had a great day, max speed was 94 on the clock along the front straight. My son's first ever track day, my first in a car, I think some better tyres and stiffer and lower springs would make quite a difference, a lighter flywheel would really help too.

Th biggest problem was the heat, by the 6th session my tyres had overheated and I was getting 2 wheel drifts on one corner in particular. You see some excellent photos taken by Lee Marshall on my Instagram account @sgpwwg

I'll check your Instagram. That's why I'm trying to learn how to adjust the tyre pressures depending on the conditions and how they wear. So much to learn.

Curve Ahead with it being so hot I dropped the rear pressure to 28 and the front to 25. The wear was even across both tyres with no tearing and plenty of marbles at the edge of both tyres. Let me know if you do another track day it would be good to meet. Regards Simon

That would be nice to meet. I'll try to go back to Silverstone soon, because it's easier for me to focus on a single track for now, but especially because it's one of the closest. I had about the same air temperatures last time but the wear on my tyres made me think they weren't hot enough. I wasn't sure if it was because my pace was too slow or if I should have dropped the pressure more. I started in the morning with 30/30 cold, then decreasing to 28R/30 cold - it increased by about 5-6 Psi once hot. I need to experiment more to see how the pressures affect my handling (especially in the front), but with my first time on a tracking, my mind was already busy with so many things.

Yes, I have pushed the fork through the yokes by 40mm, added footpeg risers now 50mm higher and 40mm back and added a race shift kit to the gear lever.

I've put some different rearsets some time ago to get more clearance but I didn't know you could move the forks that much. I was wondering if +2.5cm at the rear and -1cm at the front was too extreme but then it should be ok to start with. Thanks!

My brother and I are thinking of doing Silverstone too. You'll have a great time, you'll be amazed at what you can achieve on an old Fazer 600. Are you going for the novice group?

Ring Dave that was my third lap still had very little idea of where I was going. I should of tried to tag on the back of someone to improve my knowledge. Looking forward to doing it again

BilboBaggyBawz Yes the old 600 gives as good as she gets. Was back at snetterton in September 2017 and binned it at Palmers at about 70mph. Can’t wait to get back on track this year. See me Instagram @sgpwwg for some pics and videos too.

Yes I was pushing the limit on the brakes on a damp track. It was foot down as well as I thought I wasn’t going stop. The brakes on the fazer are awesome wet or dry and more than a mutch for faster bikes into the braking zone.

If you have the same bike as me you will have an awesome time, just remember it's not a race and go at the pace you are happy with. The old Fazer is great fun on track and with a set of Supercorsas it transforms the grip. I guarantee you will be hooked. Silverstone is very wide and fast, if you local to Silverstone you could also look at Bedford Autodrome which is also nice and easy to learn. Can't wait to see the videos. I have to book a date soon and I find myself watching your videos once again, feeling like a kid the day before their birthday. I forgot to answer your previous message (didn't receive any notification). I'm not a local but in Bournemouth. Though I believe that if I can bear the cost (trip, event, insurance), I'll do it as much as I can. As for tyres, I've been using the Metzeler M7RR. I'm trying to stick to them to develop a feel and sense how my tyres react.

My own fault trying too hard, I am OK just my right foot took a massive wack, the bike has damage to both sides as it flipped when it hit the grass but it is only cosmetic. Looking forward to next year now.
