Tyler and Kari
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ม.ค. 2020
Hi, I'm Tyler and my wife Kari and I are traveling physical therapists. We started this channel as a way to share our adventures with family and friends as we traveled the county working as traveling physical therapists. Traveling as a career was never the plan, but it found us! Having lived in 8 different states, we wanted to document and share the beauty that is the United States.
We Made It To The Smoky Mountains | (Vlog) Hiking, Fried Pies, and 5k.
The Smoky Mountains is the United States most visited National Park and we wanted to find out for ourselves why so many people come to visit this place every year.
In this episode, we hike Clingmans Dome, visiting a cute country store, try some fried pies, and Kari and her sister take on a vacation race 5k. And don't forget the wine challenge.
If you want to see more of the park, animal sightings, and maybe a quick stop in Nashville, stick around for part 2.
(A national park permit was obtained to film the Smoky Mountains NP)

Gravel Cycling in South Carolina | Kari's first test of the Priority Current

Is this some of South Carolina's finest gravel riding? Well, so far it's the only gravel we've ridden on here, but the CAROLINA SANDHILLS NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE didn't disappoint! Celebrating their 85th year, they hosted a group ride fundraiser and we couldn't be happier to support them. Tyler's parents were able to join while out visiting and what a challenging ride this turned out to be. Re...

I’m planning to go early February. How was hiking the 4x4 trail hiking it?
I’ve never been to the Smoky Mountains, but after seeing this I will definitely go.. so beautiful thank you for sharing]😊
I think it is definitely worth the trip. Pleasantly surprised how beautiful it was. Excited to share part 2. Lots more beauty to come. Thanks for watching!
Crushed that wine challenge 🍷 such a beautiful park, excited to see part 2!
Haha you were amazing! I knew you could do it. Team player.
I love the smokies It’s so beautiful
Seriously! Love it. Such a nice place to hike.
Did you miss the cave at black sand beach?
Is it the one on the right side? Or a different spot?
I have to agree. It’s an awesome ride. I had done sections of the trail in the past. Then last year, I started at Forks, WA, road out to the Pacific Ocean, turned around and headed east on the ODT. I rode all the way, including the stretch shown in the video, and continued on to Port Angeles. There, I rode an additional 9 miles just to make it a century ride (100 miles). Wonderful trip.
I think it has been one of our favorite memories of biking. Now that sounds like a fun century to do. Gorgeous views throughout I’m sure.
Great job all of you in finishing the route; gravel can be tough and challenging at times. The right team was together Roy, Tammy,Kari and Tyler Just to let yall know I am back at the gym this week light duty of course I will get there but I am much much better in healing. I haven't started riding again yet was waiting to heal some more, but I got to get a bike first, I think I changed my mind in getting the priority 600 HDX I love the auto shifting function along with the belt drive. Have fun all of yall, Franklin Power is getting his strength 💪 back
Thank you. Such a tough ride. Good to hear you’re back at it. Keep it up. Looks like a nice bike overall. Can’t go wrong either way. Thank you!
Videos like this are great - but are the reason people underestimate Buckskin Gulch. Also, everything up to the Petroglyphs was Wire Pass, which is beautiful, but not Buckskin. After that was Buckskin Gulch, but a small portion of it, and at it's driest. (Which doesn't mean it's safe). Last week (Oct 20-22) it was an entirely different canyon. A wet fall season, and a flash flood on the 18th, made it nearly impassable - and a dangerous prospect for unprepared hikers. 50° water, hundreds of wet crossings, often waist to chest deep, sometimes over our heads. Now is not the time to explore Buckskin unless you have a guide, and are prepared to be wet and cold for multiple days. It's always beautiful in Buckskin - but not always safe. Be careful, talk to experts, stay safe, and above all, if it's raining anywhere within 100 miles, don't go in without consulting a professional that knows the area.
Lots of research should go into any hike, and why we chose the time of year we did. Made for an enjoyable hike. Good info though to always check the weather. Something we definitely recommended and would encourage everyone to look into and going to the visitor center to gain info before considering this hike.
Like driving through a fall post card
Was something we needed to do.
Seeing the bears were amazing but seeing all the cubs was icing on the cake. LOVE seeing animals in the wild
I know! Always seem to find them too.
I was lucky to see one mamá bear with babies 😊
Such a beautiful sight. That was the highlight of ours.
Beautiful family of bears 🐻
We loved seeing them. So fun to watch.
Taking the Alcan Highway to Alaska, we’d jump out to take pictures of black bears and their cubs but by the time we’d seen our 50th, she had to be standing on one leg and juggling her cubs to get us to slow down!
We saw so much wild life on that same drive!! We felt like we were driving through a very large zoo. It was amazing 🤩
Haha same. We did that drive once and saw so much wildlife. Such a beautiful road to experience.
The babies are so cute 😍
Loved them!
The correct number of bicycles to own is n+1
We are slowly learning that. Now if I could just get another one!
Like your video I still watch it , did the ride with my son, we rode early! Great memories, didn’t see you this year though! ??
Thank you. We had a great time making them. What a great way to enjoy a vacation with family. Some of our best memories too. Yeah unfortunately couldn’t make it this year with work. Trying to make it in 2025 for a comeback year.
@@TylerandKari was much easier this year! Temps only in the 80’s😁
@@dalegoodwin7618now if only it could be like that again.
That loose sand section looks like it would be a challenge and tiring. Kari do you prefer the priority current or the specialized? Tyler does riding the 600X make the trails easier, as if you were Duzer!?
The sand was by far the worst part. Very tiring. I’ll have Kari respond, but I think they are slightly different so not sure her favorite. I always try to harness my inner Duzer but that guy can ride. I was beat for sure with some sore legs after. I did enjoy the 600x especially on the sand and not having to clean any of the drivetrain but still no easier to ride haha.
I’ve only done one true ride on the current and it was a challenging ride so it’s still hard to say. So far, there are different things I like about each one. I like the lower gear and ease of shifting on the current. I like my seat and the longer battery life on the specialized.
Why is no one using a dive mask? Are they not allowed?
Well I did forget my goggles which I definitely would have worn. Otherwise, I’m not sure I think the locals just go for it.
I went to a bike shop was going to buy a new bike, the employee told me i was to big to ride a bike. Never ever went back to that shop again. Now i own numerous bikes
That’s very unfortunate to hear. Though very happy sounds like you found a good place eventually to support you on your journey for a bike and to get cycling!
Sounds like you turned it into motivation like I did! Great to hear you didn’t let that stop you!!
I don't understand how mom manages to fall everytime she's on a bike haha
Hahaha oh Jeeze. I know right. She’s going to see this comment I’m sure. Love you mom! But we may be getting you some training wheels!
Took the BEST nap after that ride 😴 what a day lol
lol yeah on the ride home even! What a tough day.
My buddy has that Schwinn bike and he tried telling me once that his bike is better than mine lol
lol I’m going to say it likely isn’t.
😂😂 debatable
Y’all need to come visit me and we could have some adventures 😊
Hey almost 100% certain in December will be able to make it down for a little. Is that a good time?
@@TylerandKari yeah that should be great I’ll take y’all to all the cool’s spots to ride
@@HuntersCyclingAdventureswe will let you know when we get our plans finalized. Hope that could work!
I've done it and love it!
Such a beautiful hike! One of our favorites for sure.
@@TylerandKari im going back this weekend! Last year my husband caught covid and couldn't go, so I went with a group. Now I'm taking him so he doesn't miss it! 🥰 im esp gratefully its dog friendly. Its hard to find places to take my pup.
@@christinaturpin9464 That is so awesome you get to return and share it with him. Hopefully you have a wonderful trip! That's always a plus! Pet friendly hikes are the best. have a great time!
Took me a sec to find out what was really going on down there 😆
Just searching for some catfish!
Would have never guessed Idaho and Arizona had some beautiful fall foliage
I know. I think I was more surprised with Arizona.
They should see the gators that have been caught in that lake 😳 this is probably the craziest thing we’ve ever done. What an experience!
I know. Some of those up to 12 feet! Glad we didn’t run into any. I still can’t believe you put your head under and went for it
Just hiked it on Monday. Its a great hike. Its mostly shaded. The path is mostly sand, like hiking on the beach. All the water crossings were easy. Trekking poles help.
Such a great hike. Hope it was beautiful weather. It was kind of like the beach with all the sand for sure. Sounds like a good time.
@@TylerandKari Yeah, the weather was perfect. We started about 9am, so had to park down the road. It was in the 60's but clear skies. Finished around 2pm, it was in the mid 80's. Good times for sure. 🙏
@@psychoactivthat’s awesome. Love that place.
We carry our 5.5 lb chihuahua on hikes too! Haha! Great info and love that this loop is pet friendly. 😊
Haha nice. Yeah it always starts off with him walking but we always end up carrying for a large part of it. Thank you and thanks for watching. Enjoy!
How long did that ride take altogether?
We did 11 miles total and took us 2 hours. A lot of that was stopping for the views and filming though.
should have done a cart wheel in the rolling thing!
Haha that would have been a good idea. Just try to hold it entire time.
Love this time of year and doing stuff like this! Hope we can find a good one in the Carolina’s!
It’s almost time for some fall foliage too! I’m sure we will.
what time of year were you there??
This was early October.
Stunning!
Thanks! Such a great time
My name is Tyler to
Alright! It’s a good name! Thanks for the comment!
Since when did you develop such a fascination with alligators. Don’t get up close and personal like you did with the jelly fish. Awesome video
I get excited seeing any animal in the wild, it’s not just alligators
She likes to live dangerously!
I like short ones more frequently. Either way you guys do a fantastic job. Keep ‘em coming.
Alright! We will keep em coming.
Are the leaves changed already or is this an old video just getting uploaded?
So this is a video from last year (October 2023) that we never had a chance to get out and thought it would be a good time before leaves start to change.
@@TylerandKari thank you for responding

@TylerandKari I am recovering at light speed I can't wait to get back to my normal lifestyle but in due time I will get there
That sky is on fire 🔥
Whoop whoop! 🙌🏼
Beautiful. Fun fact. Each grove of aspen is considered to be one organism. They are linked underground.
Oh that’s awesome. We didn’t know that. Kind of explains why they grow in clusters like that maybe.
Wow, cool! I'm adding this to our list of adventures.
It’s so worth it! Shocked how beautiful it was there and the website is perfect for timing it just right.
We timed that perfectly. The colors were incredible. I don’t know if the gondola runs in the fall. I read about it but I don’t remember if it was running when we were there or not.
I know! So crazy. It says online supposedly it does but it wasn’t running that day or at least I don’t remember seeing it run.
The baby bear crossing the road was too cute! 😍🥰
I think that was our favorite part. So cute!
Can’t believe all the wildlife!!
It was amazing! If you ever get there again, take more videos!
Wow! Never attempted the whole hike how long did it take ?
Sorry, maybe we said it wrong. We only did about three miles deep into the canyon to the official end of the trail and a little further into the water. If you mean that part, it took us about half a day. We spent a lot of time stopping and sight seeing. But I saw online a few people hiked the entire canyon which sounds crazy difficult over a few days.
Oh I would love to visit that's beautiful
It is well worth it. This was our first time and was better than we could have imagined.
