Its hard and I've been on first round 1996-2004 and 2010 til present and being on it is hard as fuck to deal with. When i first got on having sex kept me sane and wanting to stay alive. I'll say get you a good partner and develop a good support system. Try to keep physically and mentally active. Im not as physically no more but i try to keep my mind going. Stay away from using hard drugs limit you alcohol consumption. Also learn as much as you can about your meds. If you're diabetic look into natural remedies they do work. The being informed on you condition so you can talk to your doctor like a peer and not the Dr just telling you whatever. Im near the end of my dialysis journey no more access i have a trans-hepatic access now but i came in with a damaged circulatory system due to uncontrolled and difficult to control hypertension. My main two doctors are amazed on that ive lived this long. Also if you in NYC take advantage of all programs available whether you on disability or not. That includes mental health. Lastly develop a mindset that this is just part of your life not it being good or bad but just something along the way. Treatment is way better than it was when i got on in 1996 and ive lived this long so can you.

An amazing true story, how I know because I went thru this story with him. As a mother this is very emotional for me, But God turned it around for our good.
