My name is Simona and I’m behind Straight Ahead Social, a content and social media consultancy helping interior designers grow their business using social media so they can spend more time doing what they love.
After 10 years in marketing and social media, I needed a new challenge in my life and enrolled in an interior design diploma course - a long-time passion of mine. Once I started working with other interior designers I quickly began showing them how they can promote themselves better on social media. I realized I can combine these two passions and the brand Straight Ahead Social was born.

And if there is an salon that provides a 35 luxury interior design brands with furniture and I need to do the IG account for it, does these things also apply on it, or it is all different? Btw target group is B2C, and some architects...
In principle, it doesn’t matter who your target audience is-a content plan can still help you outline your strategy and how to execute it. As for which social media platform is ideal, it depends on the type of client you want to reach. It could be Instagram, but maybe not. Think about where your ideal clients are likely to spend time online, whether in specific Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, or somewhere completely different. You might even realize that you’ll have the best chance of reaching them offline, in which case, your strategy will look different from someone whose priority is Instagram.

You can definitely use content pillars too! Your pillars will just differ from those of a residential designer because your target audience has different interests. Think about the topics that are relevant to architects and other B2C clients, the issues they face, and what could help them trust you, and so on. So, for instance, one of your content pillars could be ‘Benefits of luxury furniture packs’ instead of ‘Design inspiration.’ This example might not exactly suit your business but it really depends on who your audience is and what ‘issues’ you are trying to solve for them.

Haha, sorry that this video wasn't what you expected Matt! This video is meant for interior designers who are new to Canva. There are plenty of other videos with tutorials and walkthroughs, so I'm sure you'll find one you like! That said, I might make a video like that in the future, so feel free to let me know what specific things you'd like to learn
Would I say that mastering social media is easy? Heck, no. But would I say it’s impossible to learn and do it well when you already have a full-time business? Also no! You don’t have to become a full time marketer to grow your interior design business with Instagram. Implementing a couple of core strategies and giving it your best effort can be just enough. You just need to know which strategy to focus on. The truth is, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach that works for everyone. Each interior designer (and each business owner) has different strengths, different goals, different life situation… Maybe you can afford to spend 10 hours per week on social media. Maybe you can only afford to spend 10 minutes per day. In either case, there are strategies you can use to grow your following and attract your ideal clients.
