While driving to town this morning I heard this song for the first time ever. I just truned 75 a couple of weeks ago. It, of course, struck a chord and I love the lyrics. I may have to dig out my mandolin and learn to play it.

Very nice! I was looking for a video about the history of the town of Warren (where I live), and I think it was titled "75 Septembers". Is Cheryl Wheeler related to Horace Wheeler, who was principal at Towson High when I attended 1963-1966? I think he or perhaps a relative was interviewed for the video.

Where did the studio version go?

At age 34 I just learned to play this song on guitar after growing up listening to Cheryl. It feels like a milestone for me as a guitarist to even come close to Cheryl's renditions. In 1998 she filmed a performance near my hometown that was released on VHS and if you got your hands on a copy you would see my brother and I (at 12 years old) front-and-center in the audience. My musical tastes and preferences have gone in countless directions over the past few decades, but Cheryl's music has always held a special place in my sphere of influences. I would love to tell her how much it has meant to me and my family over the past few decades.
