Super super helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Awesome!!!
Some very useful tips especially the setting of IN and OUT in the clip an then adding to the timeline. I would add the "replace function" [F11] as a very useful. If you have a video preset or just make similar videos often you can just replace the clip in the timeline and add the new one with alle the effects, transitions and so on.
Thank you! Yes you’re right, although I had some weird problems with the replace function so I tend not yo use it
Is there a difference between those settings and using HLG ? for some of my videos I have been experimenting with recording in S-log3 and rendering the videos in HLG/HDR then uploading here on TH-cam
It depends on the destination you have. HLG is a reproductions setting for HDR televisions, but most TVs still work in rec709, as most computer monitors, smartphones, etc. If your monitor is Rec709, you’re not going to see the HLG correctly but rather a conversion of HLG to Rec709 - so it becomes a sort of LUT. TH-cam as well converts everything to rec709. If you like the result, than go for it, just remember that in a HLG tv the file is going to look different.
Thanks for posting. Liked and subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
1:43 yeah about avoiding the "replace" function I tried to inherit some quick workflow techniques so for the first Instead of manually replacing a clip I needed to on track no. 4, so I hovered the scroller over and used the function instead it just replaced the entire video track no.1 with that clip which was my main track with over 200+trims 20 min worth content made over 2months. *Ctrl + Z* to Undo didnt work nor did timeline history luckily I keep rendered and project backups both so I managed to recover but It can be a horrific experience for someone unprepared
Wow! Thanks for sharing
Is that Sophia at the beginning?
Yes it is!
💯 it’s so easy to do with your method, bless!
Thank you!
Thank you, very helpful. The Diadora footage looks interesting, would love to see more =)

Finally found a better video 🥹🥹🥹
I generall can understand and even agree with the Thesis to an extent. However, when I work with sequences I would rather sync the visuals on multiple tracks, find the development of shots and then cut what I dont want (doing this in the timeline rather then the media bin). To clairify, I do use 3 point editing for finding the i/o point of a scene, but I prefer having the shots all on the timeline when dialing in my i/o on a clip to clip basis. This comes in handy when switching camera angles if its just not worth using a multicam clip. This video did challenge me to rethink my timeline organization though, spcifically just reducing to 1 or 2 tracks and just eliminating from the timeline what I am not actually using. Also giving multiple layers of space for each single layer you use for something can be a lifesaver when making revisions for a client. Just like writing out an essay in double space so you have space to add changes. Thanks!
Thank you! sometimes I work in the same way as well, for example when I edit music performances that have 5 or more video feeds. When projects are long though, say a feature doc, I try to keep the project as clean as possible. I’m glad the content was useful! It’s great to hear feedback from other editors.
I just recently started using Davinci and this video has been a fantastic find. Thankyou for the share.
Thank you! Good luck with your projects!
awesome job on the presentation and instructions, I can tell you have it well thought out :) Keep it up and thanks
Thank you!
Great video, very well explained and nice editing, thank you!
great video!! what font is this if you don't mind me asking??
Thank you! It’s called Field Display, it is an Adobe font
dunno how u can have only 500 subs like i learned so much hope you gon be successfull and will have at leas 100k like if u gon be consistent and upload consistently then u gon reach 100k for sure like ur work is great and really helpfull keep on cuz u tha man also if you think ur voice or accent is bad or sum dunno but i kinda like ur voice and the accent is not bad at all so if u worried abt that then just saying that its almost invisible hope ur gonna get bigger man!
These are such massive time savers. I didn't know about the , and . adding/subtracting frames shortcut!
You’re welcome! Those come straight from Avid
Awesome explenation!!
Thank you!
Great video!
You will go a long way brother. Keep up the good work. ❤
Thank you!
Great explaination. Thank you!
I love Italian cars, especially color corrected ones
I will never ignore graphs from this moment on! Great video
Honestly tho, what ever makes you more creative, if you need 10 tracks then please use 10 tracks, not every style of video can be edited in this manner, example music videos. the advice I give everyone I teach how to edit is... find your workflow and make it work for you.
Thanks
"Simple is better than complex" , and yes you proved it!! Precise and to the point with buttery flow. 😊Thanks for such quality content.
Excellent video, thank you!
Thank you...¡¡¡
Great video, what font are you using in this video?
Thank you! It’s Field Display, it is an Adobe Font. You unlock it with the Creative Cloud. That and also Ailerons
Thanks Thats useful
This is a fantastic video, well done! I hope some day I like editing in Resolve as much as Final Cut
Nice tutorial! What shortcut did you use to hide the original clip at 5:09?
Hi! I used D to disable the clip. I have another video just on shortcuts if you’re interested
@cromostudio yes I am!
Very useful and effective tips.
Very nice tutorial 🙏
Thank you. I’ve been looking for key settings for da Vinci and this is PERFECT. 😊😊😊 I look forward to future content!
Great video! Thanks for the tips
Very helpful and thanks for sharing!
great Job. A great refresher course
Hi everyone! To make it easier, I wrote down all the shortcuts I mention in the description.
Personally i use many tracks when I use more than one camera. It's simplier for color grading.
Very Useful, Thanks mate! 🙌
New subscriber here before you become famous 🥰
Excellent video. The only point I’d add is, if you map P to “append to end”, You can press, I to place an In point, O to place out point, then P to go ahead and drop it onto the timeline without having to drag it to the right viewer. Easy peasy!
Yes, this is a genius move! I never thought about remapping Append from F12 to P! Great tip!
agree. one track for videos another for adjusment clips and comps and one for titles or graphics. I use markers to mark B-rolls and A-rolls.
I wonder if I can apply most of this to Blender's VSE.
Let me know! It works about the same in all software I know
Thanks, there are so many shortcuts but this vid shows really helpful ones, I wish I had watched it a year ago
Thank you! Yeah shortcuts are life savers. I wrote them in the description as well, i know it’s hard to remember them from the video
Great vintage footage!
Thank you! I used to have one of those moviolas in my university
I subscribed ❤❤❤
Totally agree 200% with your title. That's why the Cut page is so amazing. I might use 3 video tracks at the most far B-Roll & Graphic. Now Audio tracks, are a different story. I can go up to 5-7 tracks when it comes to sound Designing on different projects. Keep up the good work on explaining the art of editing.
Thank you! I actually never use the Cut page! I should give it a try one day, you’re not the first one to suggest it
Well, that's an outdated way of thinking. Simplicity is not always effective. There are many reasons why you might stack video tracks. I don't find it confusing or imprecise at all to work like that. I've been doing it for years and have never had any problems with it! Stop posting such stupid general statements and pretending you know everything better! Everyone is different and has different ways of working!
I never said the other way is stupid. If you’re fine with it then keep doing it. This video is for people who are starting - for example my students in my many master programs in universities - and I find it very effective with people who never edited. Please keep a constructive tone as this approach is not appreciated at all by me.
@@cromostudio Oh, I'm sure you don't like my tone! Most TH-camrs are only willing to accept positive comments, it seems. For me, negative comments are also constructive. You could think about them and maybe learn something.
@@gregormarini How is what you wrote helpful to anyone other than your own ego? I also use video stacks and agree with your thinking though your way of communicating is quite unnecessary.
