Nha Trang Scuba Diving - VLOG2
มุมมอง 1515 ปีที่แล้ว
VLOG2: Matt & Meg celebrate Matt's birthday with scuba diving, cake, and spending time with their new Vietnamese friend, Sinh. Visibility in the water is pretty low at this time of the season (January), because of high winds. The best time to go is in the summer. Regardless, we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this diving service. The price was $72 USD for a half day of scuba div...

มุมมอง 17K5 ปีที่แล้ว
VLOG1 - Matt & Meg go on an adventure to exchange USD to Vietnamese Dong in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Recommendations for exchanging money in Vietnam: 1. Have crisp & new bills to exchange. 2. Someone told me once that the best rates for currency exchange from USD to VND are found in the numerous gold shops in the big cities. And they only like large denominations (preferably Benjamin Franklins with the blue stripe and very crispy, no creases.

    They lie and say it’s “old money” because when they exchange American currency to Vietnam currency they actually lose money, easier to just say no to the 1, 5, 20 bills they’re strict and only like 100’s because when exchanged back to Vietnam dong it is more.

    All that running around just to exchange about $100 USD worth of VNDs? Is it worth your time and aggravation? Why not exchange them at the airport, maybe not the best rate, but so convenient.

    Please, don´t touch while scuba diving, just watch and film. You learn this in every diving course. Furthermore, you can touch something poisonous and this could be a problem. Anyway, Thank you for the Info. How much have you paid for the diving trip?. Are you Open Water Diver? PADI? SSI?

      Los del Pueblo, Thanks for the response. We got to drive with a trained instructor that told use what we could and could not touch thankfully. This was our first day out of three that we trained for our SSI Open Water Course. We paid about $270 total for the course in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

    Well, now you know! I would not feel at all comfortable eating food from that market. Do you shop there? Where do you get your toiletries and hygiene products? Is there any place that comes close to westernized standards of cleanliness that you can get your food from? Curious minds wanna know! Thanks for the update. Glad you are feeling better!

    • @everydayabroad1888
      @everydayabroad1888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's the market pretty much every restaurant and such in the area uses. It's pretty unavoidable. We use it, but we try to be very careful to properly wash and cook the food we get. We have a store next to us that sales toiletries and hygiene products (but not food much in the way of food.) There are a few western style markets in Nha Trang, but none near where we live. There is a place west of us called Big C, which is the nicest, and then another south of us that we like called Lotte Mart.
