Hey Mr. Fishy. Did you use the same weight jig on your shrimp, as your paddle tail?
Hey there! I actually used a 1/8 jig head on the ned shrimp mainly because I wanted a smaller hook to match the size of the lure! But I bet a 1/4 oz jig would still work! I appreciate the comment! Tight lines!! 😁🎣
Great video. FYI, this Saturday, the 18th of January, should be another good time to fish. It'll be warmer and cold front is coming Sunday. Good luck.
Thanks for the comment and the info! I gotta say today was definitely a good fishing day haha stay tuned for that video as well! I appreciate the support and glad you enjoyed! Tight lines!! 🎣😁
Remember me telling you that a good time to fish is low water? The last half of the outgoing, and the first half of the incoming? It's always good for smaller fish because they have to move out of the protection of the Mangroves, and now their only protection is to school up in big numbers where they have to compete with each other for food! However, you still have to learn that the largest predators cruise the outside of these schools of small trout and mullet. And on high water, they hide up in the Mangroves . They love to lay in wait and ambush their prey. That's why the guides cast up into the Mangroves, with weedless lures, such as NLBN Mullets and Mullet K-Tails! There are tons of video's that show you how to do this! Snook and Tarpon explode on those things! J, I sent you some that I rigged up for you with extra tails and hooks. You know the saying! "I can lead you to water, but I can't make you drink." Total Pun Intended! lol I LOVE that you are finally starting to try new things! You are getting to the point where those small trout are no longer the challenge for you that they once were, whether you want to admit it or not. That's natural! They have taught you far more than you realize! Let me ask you. You didn't show a good pic of the "Mud Crabs," but do you mean Fiddler Crabs? Most have one large claw that looks like they are carrying a fiddle around? They live in the little holes near Shore, and Sheepshead love them... If you are going to change lures, which I thought was a great idea. But REALLY try something different! Not a different variation of the same thing! Especially on days where they seem to eat anything. That was a PERFECT day to learn to "walk the dog" with the Zara Spook or Spook Jr. I sent you! Sometimes ONLY, the giant specks will hit those, and the dinks will stay on the bottom looking for shrimp and small crabs! I promise you J, when Trout, and predators hit those spooks there is nothing more fun! Many times they will hit them just to kill them, when they are not even hungry! The spooks are noisy and it seems to make the large trout so aggressive that they will actually knock the Spook a foot or two high! It's so much fun! Yes fishing shuts down after cold fronts, until it warms up a bit, or until the next front is a day or two away! But the fish are still there! They go into a lethargic state and their metabolism slows way down with the cold water, so they don't need to feed until it warms back up!
I really need to learn how to use those spooks for sure! I’m ready for those top water strikes now I think haha But yes I get fiddlers too however sometimes they’re hard to find so I flip over rocks on a low tide and grab the mud crabs that live under them! With all these cold fronts coming in I’m glad I tested this for sure because now I know when not to go spend my time fishing and go out and do some catching lol! As always will thanks for the advice believe me you’ve taught me a lot just with your words and gifts so I truly appreciate it and more of those gifts will be put to use very soon! Thanks for the comment and support as always! Tight lines bro!! 🎣🎣😁
@JfishyYT Oh I know you will eventually get around to using the things I brought to you, because it's the natural progression for learning new things. I sped up your learning curve because when you finally get ready to try things I've told you about, or to try things you see others or guides doing, you already have many of the things you need! As for the Spooks, my bet is you will be naturally good at it! Some people don't have the rhythm and just can't do it very well! Watch a video or two then go practice. The best way to top water fish is to have a rod devoted to it. That way, if you see fish busting the top, you're ready! You also need to learn how to use that baitcaster! Not on video but you can practice learning to use those anywhere! I learned in my backyard! But, THAT would make a great combo for those small trout and bass! They are a lot of fun when you get the hang of them! YES! Winter fishing is simply a pattern. Fish a day or two before each front, then wait for the next one, it's that simple. If you get cabin fever in between, head to the bridges for Sheepshead! They love cold windy weather! But dress warm!
Dope video cool to see the results of someone testing these things 👍🏼
I had to try it for my self a lot of people had told me this but I wanted to test it out haha glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate the support and comment! Tight lines!! 🎣😁
Gone up and down st Pete can’t catch one fish 😂😅
With this cold weather it can be tough! Not to mention the real bad winds it’s hard to even cast out by the beach but don’t give up! The bite will come st Pete has awesome fishing! I appreciate the comment and hope you enjoyed the video! Tight lines!! 🎣😁
Been a freshwater fisherman my whole life!! and recently started using "Ned Rigs" for bass in the great lakes!! work great! (Z-Man are the best! very interested to see em' being used for inshore saltwater species! they're on my list for next trip to Cabala's
Had the same experience last weekend- hit a favorite spot, right time/ tide but not a single bite. I am a believer that fronts put fish down.
Exactly! I mean you can just tell this area was loaded with fish although small but still at least they were biting and as soon as that cold came through they were gone! Or maybe there but just not biting! I appreciate the comment and hope you enjoyed the video! Tight lines!! 🎣😁

While you now can conceal carry in Florida without a license if you elect to use it the cost estimate to go through court and be found innocent is approximately $120,000.00 US dollars at least. Sometimes walking away is in your best interest. You have to make the choice! Take care!

Great catch brother. Just a suggestion cut your bait in half so it bleeds and you will get a faster response. That recipe looks good. Keep them video coming. Blessings 🙏✌️
Thanks for that suggestion I gotta try it I’ve done it once my bait dies but they usually work well while alive but not on this day haha! I appreciate the support as always man! Tight lines! 😁🎣
Speckle trout will lose the spaghetti worms as the water gets colder. White trout will become mushy after they have been frozen but caught and eaten fresh they are great. Try frying a speckle trout filet and make a lemon dill cream sauce over the top. Enjoyed the video. What part of florida do you fish? Have a great rest of the week and a better weekend. I will be fishing Sunday. 👍🇺🇸🙏
Ah this is great information! That recipe sounds good I’m gonna have to look up a video and give it a taste test, I usually fish Tampa Bay Area or the west coast in the gulf! I appreciate the support and the comment! Have a blessed weekend as well!! Tight lines on Sunday! 😁🎣

Next time try using a popping cork with the live bait that will keep the bait off the bottom
You know I’ve heard a lot about the popping cork but never tried it I have to give it a chance! I appreciate the comment and support! Tight lines!! 😁🎣
@JfishyYT Teddy is correct, J. When Trout are around like in this video, a popping cork will catch circles around any lure! I thought I sent you some??? They come in long and short lengths. (I like the short ones.) And they have weighted and unweighted. (Get the weighted). They are easier to cast, and easier for the fish to pull them under without feeling resistance. Hook the shrimp just under the horn. Cast to out and pop the cork with that same patented JFishy pop or two you use when working the slam shady! The popping noise is like a dinner bell for trout and reds. This part is important! The reason for hooking your shrimp just under the horn is because it allows the shrimp to swim naturally and doesn't kill or restrict it in any way. Once you pop that cork, if predators come to investigate, your shrimp will come immediately to the surface and start flipping around! You'll know that the shrimp is under attack! Do not pop when something is trying to catch the shrimp! If the predator is having trouble catching the shrimp, simply add a split shot about a foot under the cork, and that will be his death sentence! But try not to do that unless you have to! It's fun to watch a predator and shrimp do their thing! You can get to recognize what type of fish is after the shrimp, by the strike! This is also a great method for night fishing... One last thing! Don't EVER be afraid to ask for "selects" when you buy your shrimp! Pay the difference, they are easier to use and attract bigger fish. AND, they are far better at avoiding pinfish! Then, ALWAYS bring your leftover shrimp home with you to cook with your fish! There is nothing wrong with them! They are delicious! I have eaten thousands in my life. NEVER pay fishmarket prices for them. 😂
Great day and catch👍🏾

That bird is an Osprey, and they don't have feet, hands, or claws, lol. They have "Talons." lol They are expert anglers! Yeah, don't kid yourself about bait sizes! The ONLY time I prefer smaller baits is when it is really cold, when their metabolism slows way down. When this happens it apparently takes them far too long to digest their prey so they stick to small prey... I have found when Porpoise show up, whatever fish they are feeding on heads back to shallow cover. They don't nessacerily stop feeding, they just do it closer to the mangroves where it's too shallow for the Porpoise to chase them. Closer to the mangroves is where I'd be fishing anyway. And NOT for Trout! Though I MAY catch one and put in one for live bait! lol 😮
Hahaha I meant osprey! Dude he had a massive trout I wish the camera did a better job at capturing it! I kinda grabbed these lures hoping to hit a sheepshead or snapper since they have smaller mouths! But the trout love it as well 😅 ah okay good to know about the porpoise! As always Will I appreciate the info! Hope you brought in the new year well! Tight lines!! 😁🎣
@@JfishyYT Yeah Osprey are cool! I used to have a male that lived in a tall dead pine tree in my back yard. We called him "Big Boy." I lived about a half mile from Clearwater Harbor. Every morning by 9am, he would have already gone fishing and returned to his tree. You could hear him sitting up there tearing his fish apart and eating strips of it. He would usually eat about half in the morning and the other half in the late afternoon. Have you ever noticed that once they catch a fish, which was usually a trout, they always turn him head first into the wind so that he is the most aerodynamic! I also noticed that they hate my drone! I guess they see it as competition. Sometimes, they would fly right at it! Thankfully, a drone can easily outclimb them as it can climb straight up, whereas birds can't. Happy New Years My Brother. 🎉 May 2025 bring in more and larger fish!
@@willcordelo3967 haha glad you never lost the drone to them cause I’m sure if they did get their hands on it they could destroy it!
@@JfishyYT Lol! "TALONS" not hands! Yeah, they could definitely bring it down. But it's insured!
Wrong hooks, try using the hooks design for that Ned shrimp like the finesse bullet. They work way better.
Ah okay! I seen those and almost bought them but I couldn’t find the right weight I wanted I’m gonna have to search for some though! I appreciate the advice and the comment!! Tight lines 😁🎣
@@JfishyYT they also make a mushroom head. I think they called them shroomz. They allow the Bait to sit on the bottom tail up and just move with the current. I’ve had real good luck with them in salt and freshwater.
Don’t believe the story big baits only catch big fish. Son just got back from TX caught many 10-12 inch trout on a 8-10 inch coastal brew soft plastic.
Wow you know I have heard that trout even the small ones will eat lures same size as them! And I’ve had it happen with smaller ones haha I’ve had baby trout eat my 3in paddle tail! I’ve always thought of trying to match the bait size that’s around which is why I throw the 3 inch because most baits I see are small! I appreciate the info though and the comment!! Tight lines! 😁🎣
@ thanks so much for the vids!
@@shanegilchrist1441 glad you enjoy them! Thanks for the support!! 😅
Great video I bet this lure will catch a wide variety of fish 🎣
Heck yeah the small profile makes me think that as well!! Thanks for the comment bro! Tight lines!! 😁🎣
Gulp shrimp is da best 🤙🏾
Oh man you’re not the first one to tell me this I just might have to grab some of those!! I appreciate the tip and the comment! Tight lines!! 😁🎣
Try these ned shrimp bro. They might change your mind. They are that good.
I used a white gulp shrimp on Monday for the first time and slayed the trout and reds over here in Nw florida
And salt strong makes a 4 inch paddle tail callee the mulligan
Everybody I’ve talked to swears by the white gulps shrimps! Might have to try them out for sure! I appreciate that tip and glad you slayed them! I’m looking for the reds here myself haha thanks for the comment and tight lines!! 😁🎣
