black clover is a good example, because it's toxic fanbase made it's garbage anime even worse. It sad think about how many beginner anime fan had bad experience, because black clover and it's toxic fanbase whose hate every other series than it and overrate it.

I always read a chapter or two to get a feel for a series before I ever buy any physical copies. I don’t have enough room for series I don’t absolutely love lol

I've only really read from fan-translated manga uploaded by the people who translated it themselves or from the same stuff but on aggregator sites (I haven't even started a physical collection yet)

I admit that some manga books did change my life and help me understand better about people and the world.

For tracking your mangas/comics you can use whakoom is super easy plus it shows you diferent editorials that also have the manga have or are looking for

i am starting to collect manga after years of reading digitally, so thanks. i view manga as decoration more than anything personally although not everyone thinks the same. i will definitely be reading my physical manga though, but decoration is at the forefront :) i have two empty bookshelves built into my upstairs room, so i think my manga will fit and look nice in them, as well as any box sets + figures i get! 😅

The way i keep track of mangas I own is to use google sheets! I can double check which ones I already have on the app

Regarding figures, I recommend getting a glass case instead of putting them on shelves bc the glass doors can prevent ur figures from getting dusty. Otherwise make sure to dust ur figures regularly! Instead of larger figures I like putting mini figures/gacha toys in front of manga, it's cute and doesn't take up much space

With your last point on tracking what you have got to prevent duplication. Personally I use Google sheets with different tabs. There I can keep track of complete series, series I'm I'm actively pre-ordering, series I may pick up if I have free cash, stalled series and dropped series as well as actual pre-orders This means I don't duplicate an online pre-order with an in person order. It means I don't get things I have already got and if I find myself in a bookshop with some money I can buy something I need rather than being stuck Google sheets means it can be maintained on the pc at home and accessed on my phone when out and about😊

When collecting my main focus is primarily on the condition aspect. I'm not a fan of yellow pages. It's makes it feel older and I'm aware that's inevitable, but I feel that good maintenance preserves their condition. 1. Invest in quality shelving units and organize to your liking. 2. Purchase a humidifier or dehumidifier (based on needs) to prevent pages from yellowing. 3. Buy blackout curtains to prevent sunlight from oxidizing pages and move shelving units to places where sunlight doesn't make contact. 4. Consider investing in higher quality editions such as Full Metal Special Editions because general manga pages have a tendency to yellow.

I only buy what I like. I’m actually pretty new to graphic novels but so far I got Hellsing deluxe set, Akira boxset, Blame 1&2, Batman American comics omnibus, and I just got the full Dragon ball and DBZ box sets I’m waiting for!

It's funny cause I made the same mistake of buying a duplicate volume a few weeks ago. I've been Collecting HxH, and I'm currently up to 12 in order (I have a few scattered volumes from the CA arc, and all of the manga only content collected too), and I unknowingly bought another volume 12. It also sucks cause Volume 13 and 14 were literally right there. And quick tip: If you bought a duplicate volume at a Barnes and Noble, you can refund it if you got a receipt

Yep! I plan to get three volumes each for cardcaptor sakura clear card. I already have volumes 1, 2, 3 so my next purchase will be 4, 5, 6. Ialready bought a manga this month so got to wait a bit! I personally like getting omnibus' so that works for me too.

Nice pick ups. If you like sports manga/anime, you should try Slam Dunk. Was out of stock for a long time, but all 31 volumes should be available again. It's amazing.

I honestly dont like how they changed Undead Unluck from white to black. My recommendations are even tho some are fairly popular: The Horizon, The Climber (I think it still does not have english physical copy), Three Days of Happiness, The Summit of the Gods and Solanin... Have you read any of those?

Just read Akane-Banashi 1-4, so good!!! Sakamoto Day is very underrated. Definitely recommend reading and I never watch the anime yet, not sure if this is your forte; the danger in my heart, Blue Lock, The Apothecary Diaries, The Witch Atelier…these are my recent favorites plus of course Dandadan and Kaiju no.8

If you are getting into the larger volumes, please save your money and buy box sets as they are by far the CHEAPEST in the long run. Don't pick up a few at a time unless you enjoy wasting money.

I'm a digital reader. I like to get the first omnibus of the series I like. As a physical representation. It's like decoration for me. This hobby can get out of hand real quick. Me just getting the first omnibuses of the series I like I'm already 600$ deep. And I haven't even bought the out of print or Japanese only omnibuses. Like damn. I can't imagine collecting the whole thing.

Unless you are ready to run it like a library dont get that big.

I recommend the box sets for bulk series As for how much cheaper it is. Chainsaw man was 100 plus at local stores and Amazon sold it like $54 for 11 books. I just started collecting like 5 or 6 months ago and I would bulk buy at the local Barnes and noble every week and it got so overwhelming on just having a stack of manga and no time to read.. i agree with you on buying a few manga at a time. That's what I'm doing for now on unless a box set come out
