just a stick.... and woooooo there he goes.....
Thanks for posting this! A genius at work (Jonathan, not you :-)
How BLESSED we are that God chose US to enJOY In JOY His Uniqueness!!!
a fn genius...
Many forget or are too young to know that Steve Allen and Jack Paar preceded Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show. All the best episodes of Paar featured Jonathan Winters improvisations. Paar let him do anything he wanted as displayed in this clip and he never failed to entertain. These episodes were priceless. Carson had the good sense to continue JW’s appearances.
Love the clip....but Jack Paar left TTS in '62....
the smoothest operator of them all
This dance, to this song, was so hightly regarded, New York City Ballet did a live version of it. They still do it, in repertory. Playing the film clip first. Then various dancers doing their own version, choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Morton Gould wrote the music, based on the Kern melody. Robbins asked Astaire for his approval, and Astaire said he'd be honored. (Hayworth was, by that time, no longer around to be asked, and of course, neither was Jerome Kern).
Paar's mind moves at the rate of a biplane, while Jonathan's races like a rocket.
Jonathan Winters God of comedy ‼️
1
A true bebop comedy genius on the order of Lenny Bruce, Charlie Parker and Lord Buckley hitting one long, live lick...creating art on the spot
There was nobody better or ever will be. Rest in Eternal Peace Mr. Winters!
Robin Williams came closest to being his equal. Everyone else is and was a distant second place.
😲😂😂👏👏
Smartest comic I’ve ever seen.
Genius. A freekin' genius.
Jonathan Winters wasn’t 24 karat gold he was pure unvarnished platinum. I’m sure his comedic genius will never be duplicated.
Happy belated 60th anniversary to the Stick skit!
Thanks buddy
FUNNY AS HELL. !!!!!
Just incredible. Creative and clean. He was the inspiration for so many comics.
Genius.R.I.P. Johnnie.
Old enough to remember seeing this live, especially the UN joke
A week away from my 4th birthday. Boy was I ever in for a treat...❤❤❤
Easy to see how much he influenced Robin Williams. Take a simple prop and get the audience rolling.
jesus christ even in 2023... LOL!!!!!!!
We lost Winters who inspired Williams. And then we lost Williams😢

I always thought he was funny 😂
JW was absolutely brilliant. I was a big fan of Jack Parr. He was my fav late night show, as was Dick Cavetto. Never cared for Johnny.
He just gave him a stick! LOL.
Mirth was a combination of all his craziness and his friendship with Robin Williams was amazing. Rest in Peace guys.💖
Stephen Rosenfield sent me here. This was HILARIOUS. Unbelievable that this was all ad-libbed.
There was NO ONE and Absolutely NEVER WILL BE anyone as Funny with Improv as Johnny Winters! A lot tried, Robin Williams came close!
Dear Johnathan- you bring me such joy when I see you on TH-cam! And I reckon I have the best strategy for those that give me a hard time- “wave my wand & they will disappear! “. 😊
Best Bing Crosby impression I've ever heard!
Absolutely mad genius. 😂
I loved his Bing Crosby imitation
This is who Robin Williams tried to be his whole life.
Inconceivable genius.
YOU can see why Robin Williams loved him so much.
This man still makes me laugh so hard after decades of his comedy! I saw this episode of Jack Parr when it first aired! Thank you Johnny ----
This is so beautiful. Rita such a natural dancer and Fred adores her. One of my favourite films and the songs wonderful from Jerome Kern. Thank you.
Anyone else here because Stephen Rosenfield told us to check this out?
Improvisation like this is very difficult to do. You give him a stick and he just takes off. Unreal.
Pure genius!
they have to invent new words for genius... it's not good enough for Jonathan Winters.
I made this! :)
Lana Del Rey is foaming at the mouth
