Slope soaring at Agger Strand
Inspired by the wonderful Clips of @gprrobby I wanted also to add my point of view how wonderful slope soaring with a RC glider in a coastal scenery could be.
The pictures and videos were taken in North Jutland, Denmark, at the dunes, at the southern end of Agger, at 4 bft. West wind. Recorded with a Pixel 6 mobil phone.

Design process of a C-123 Provider in Autodesk Fusion 360

This video is a summary of the design process of a 1:12 scale Fairchild C-123 Provider in Fusion 360. The design process lasted 6 months ... the subsequent construction 3 times as long. The model is a classic wooden construction. Building with the use of a jigsaw would be possible ... if you have a lot of time. It is faster with a 3-axis CNC router. Dimensions: Span: 2.80m Length: 1.92m Height:...

Airfield - Rangsdorf - L-4 Grashopper Flight with CamPods
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Instead of 4K Drone recordings with Mini or Micro Cams, I designed and printed for my old GoPro 3 Camera Pods and mounted them below the wings of my L-4 Seagull Grashopper. It was just me that the flight was a bit shaky, the weight and drag of the CamPods did not affect the flights. Only the one-sided weight, was somewhat critical during takeoff and landing. Next time, I install a counterweight.

The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is a very large Air show containing hundreds of modern military aircraft in the static line-up and air display from many different countries around the world. This Airshow is usually held at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire which is a large base used infrequently by USAF deployments which makes it an ideal venue for such a large Airshow. RIAT usually tak...
Electric powered F6F Hellcat

This was the second flight of my F6F Grumman Hellcat, Span 1.80m, length 1.08m, Liftoff weight 5.5kg, powered by a Aeronaut Actro 24-5 brushless outrunner, with 24 NiCd Cells Sanyo 2400mAh and a APC 13x6 prop. The prop turns around 9600rpm and the flight time is around 5min. The model survived the nose over landing, caused by a gear fault quite undamaged.
Utterly Butterly Wingwalking Formation

This was also an exciting attraction of the Flying Legends Airshow at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford Sept. 2004. The world's only formation wingwalking team "the Utterly Butterlys" They showed with his 1940's Boeing Stearman biplanes and twin sister wingwalkers a really mouth-watering sequence of formation aerobatics.

    How can I say that I love very large scale but very light weight scale rc models ? The scale flying of such these specific class of rc models is my ultimate passion.I really dont know how some day I can without drudgery professionally design and construct a very large scale but very very light scale Boeing 737 100 lufthansa with scale flying capabilities before leaving this life .

    By the way, I would like to remind you all, that WD-40 is not for lubrication - as many people think - it is good for what it was designed for. For removing moisture and loosening connections. There is 15% oil there. It is 50% mineral spirit. It has to appear easily, penetrate and disappear quickly. Therefore, after cleaning, appropriate grease/gear oil should be applied. Oils for maintaining bicycles are surprisingly good. Light, low viscosity and even after wiping, they work well under load.

    Gillows, that takes me back in time. I was born in 1952. Pactra Dope fumes & Ambroid Glue. I built a beautiful Gillows Bristol Bullet - the tissue job was perfect - I just did not have the courage to fly it. I put it on the top of my dresser drawers & departed for Embry Riddle for college & flight training. When I came home for a trimester summer break, I almost cried. The sunrise every morning used to shine through my bedroom window & the beam would pass over my model. Well, it warped the upper wing & separated both ends of the wings from the outer wing struts - it was impossible to fix. I tried every trick in the book to warp it back into place with no joy. The last time I saw it was 1975 when I came home from the U.S. army. Those Gillows models were delicate. Your model in this video is beyond awesome; it is pure artwork...! It takes super human patience to create a model aircraft like yours...!!! If I had created a model aircraft like the one in this video - I'd be strutting back & forth in my hobby shop patting myself on the back...!!! Count on this comment as a pat on the back from an old Gillows model airplane model maker...!!! 😊

    The C-123 has been a favorite since I was a child. They were still operated by Air Force Reserve squadrons near my home in the 70s, so it wasn't uncommon to see (and hear) them overhead. The auxiliary jets were particularly loud and masked much of the sound of the radials until they were shut off when the take-off climb was complete. A pilot acquaintance obtained pages from the structural maintenance manuals for me, which contained a wealth of information: The drawings indicated structural locations identified by STA and WL numbers. Since those numbers represented inches from an origin point, this meant that I could draw my own model plans with reasonable accuracy. A difficulty I had was with wing and stabilizer incidence, as the full-size aircraft appears to have a rather pronounced degree of wash-out. The stabilizer and center section of the wing are noticably positive in relation to the fuselage. The aircraft doesn't land "nose high." The flair orients the fuselage to be barely more than parallel with the runway. It follows that at cruising speed, the fuselage is actually slightly nose-down. Many photographs I've seem support that theory, but it is just my own speculation based upon what I saw in the drawings. I say "saw" because those documents and plans were lost to me in the 90's with the project never progressing beyond fuselage templates. Now, with 3D CAD, LASER cutters, CNC mills, and 3D printers all being obtainable for the home hobbiest, the potential for grand projects like this is greater. I'm only a couple of years older than you, but I am weary in body and mind. I don't know that I could take on such a task by myself. The learning curve would be steep, and my mental stamina isn't what it used to be. It seems that all of my energy is expended during the workday. Not much left to do but sleep and be ready for the next. I admire what you've accomplished and hope to see the finished model some day. Cheers.

    • @LarsBaeter
      @LarsBaeter 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for your kind comment and for sharing your wonderful and precious memories ❤ If you are older than I am, I probably won't be able to tell you anything you don't already know. I can only tell you how I am doing. Starting something new is never easy but I'll never know if I can do something if I don't try. Whether I do something or I don't do something doesn't really matter in the end. My time goes by either way. I'd rather spend it trying and risking failure than not trying at all. To be honest, I didn't expect to make it 😉 .. and you are right, by the way. The aerodynamic design of the original machine is typical for an old heavy transport machine. Large angle of attack in the wing root and strong washout at the wingtip. The original wing profile does not work so well with this layout in a model scale .. says the Reynold-number .. not me 😉
