I have had a case exactly like that minus the blue latches since the day that model came out 20 years ago now. Just a quick anecdote to tell you how tough those things are and make you feel better about having all your equipment in it. I was coming back from a show in Jacksonville one night and we had just driven 14 hours in a 26 foot truck. I had just gotten back to the shop. Was dog tired, finish the load out and put my stuff in the back of my truck to go home to the apartment. I swore I had put everything down in the bed, but while I was loading my stuff into the vehicle, one of my coworkers came up and was talking to me, and I happened to sit this case on top of my bed toolbox. We told each other, “ see you Monday” and I headed out for the weekend… When I left the parking lot just being a young guy I turned out onto the street and stomped the gas 😂 I never knew the case was gone till I got home and it wasn’t there in the bed of the truck. I was so upset with myself. My whole livelihood is in that box, all my gear that I used to do shows, including my laptop and everything. I went two weeks without the case, and I was in the middle of replacing everything and ordering new stuff when I got a call from a guy that worked for the Illinois central railroad … he said he was following me down the street when I peeled out and he saw it fly off the back of my truck and go flying across the highway 😂. He said he stopped and grabbed it, and tried to chase me for blocks, but I never stopped … he had a train to catch naturally… And he told me he was gone for a couple of weeks but when he got back he open the case and found my business card and he called me and asked me did I want to meet him and pick up the case 🙏 When I got it back, everything was in it just like it had been packed when I got back from the trip. He hadn’t touched a thing other than pulled out one of my business cards that was in the pocket in the lid. He didn’t even mess with the spare cash that I had in there that I use to buy snacks from vending machines. I offered to give him some money for helping me out, really pressed him… He wouldn’t take a dime. Just a really good guy. As for the case, it has some war scars from flying across a 5 Lane Highway at about 40 or 50 miles an hour… But I still have it and use it to this day. There was a broken latch which pelican replaced free of charge no questions asked. When I told them what actually happened… They actually offered to replace the entire case if I would send the other one back. But I told them I liked the scars, and I’d rather keep it. It’s real life. This is probably the best word of mouth advertising they’ll ever get.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. I would like to see the steering shaft and what wear it had.
thank u very much for the video, very helpful i did the same thing as in the video and my hydraulic steering isnt working properly(i have change one sector shaft because the adjustment place was broken) i putted the sector shafts in timing i did everything, i dont know what to do anymore, i have inspected the power steering pump and replaced it with a new one and still doesnt work, what do u suggest to do please??
This Pelican case is of what size ??
Nah man. you need some seriously mean main speakers. Direct shot. Those speakers you're using are a bit too weak. I'm an old school still using community and jbl speakers.
My rental never showed up… had to use what I had
@@arichindustries Yup. For that same reason I invested on my own. The problem of owning is the maitenance. There's always a project. But it allows me to fullfill the events. The problem for having weak equipment is that some people notice and they spread the word and might affect some future shows. Buy some subwoofers and some direct shot rigs speakers.
Tip .... The manual says to insert the central spool with it's internal (identification) groove uppermost (steering wheel side) of the control valve. (My understanding. Please verify to your own satisfaction.)
What foam do you use for your peli?
Can you please tell me what RJ45 connector that is? I can not find one with a shield.
it's called ethercon but you can use a regular rj45 conector
I realize this video is almost a year old at this point, but just curious what exactly you guys did to the lids to "modify" them. Did you just use a dremel tool to sand out the latching lip in the lid? or did you actually cut off part of the lip? thanks
Just dremel the lip out
Great idea for a portable RV deck
Do you have the file for the 3d print?
Sorry but I got to say, you're still living in the 70's! Point source is 70's tech. I personally haven't used a speaker for small to medium gigs that are larger than 3.5" in over 15 years! Point source just goes everywhere - ceiling, floor, etc.. Line Array (or column) speakers deliver sound straight out and 120 degrees wide with only about 15 degrees vertical, so there is less sound bounce. Plus each of my columns have 18 speakers to generate sound at different frequencies. A single 12" has to work too hard to try to reproduce that range of sound. Borrow or rent a pair and try it out and you will NEVER go back to point source again! Just a thought...
I agree...my rental didn't show up for the day so I had to make due
Nice video, good to see the valve adjustment procedure - thanks!
bahahahahaha
How did you get the sector shafts out? Does the inspection plate have to come off in order to slide it out? And do you have to take both the back and front off in order to get the ball screw nut out?
All I had to do was remove the steering wheel and the upper portion of the steering column to get the orbital valve out. Worst part was getting the dash and all the sheet metal out of the way.
@@arichindustries so you left the shaft in the tractor ok i got you. Thanks anyway for the reply
This is your future father in law's friend at work. 👍
Safety note: by rising yourselves up, that safety railing is way too low, falling hazard is created. Law suit potential created .
okay dad
I use the Stanley version of that kind of wire stripper, used it all over an industrial site I worked for a year, plus every little project I've done since. Only wire it's not good for is really fine stuff, and the super thick stuff, where I'd use a knife instead. I'd check and make sure you've got the tension screw cranked up, the little one on one of the lower jaw blocks.
Nice job .. very good actually!👌 Which rj45 network connector is that part? From where did you get it?
Please wash me
No kidding! This thing had a rough past life!
Great video. So many times the steering wheel shaft is worn and pitted where it goes on the upper shaft seal causing it to leak also....
I suspected this one to be that way, would've made a good video to weld up and turn back down!
Damn that looks and sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I was there
It’s hard to call it work!
Hope you stuck a dollar in his waistband after the show! 🤔🤷♂️
There a chunk of change. lucky dogs😊
That's why we use a tape measure 16' 3" how you doing?
I believe this one was 12’ 6”
That's a nice one! Love the simplicity and geometry of it.
I feel like after a while them legs to the tires will give out 🤔
Been using it for almost 5 years 👍
@@arichindustries I stand corrected
A-Rich- The Irwin strippers are the way to go... Part number 2078300 :)
Good job on video got a steering column to do today and top lid pump
Hope this helps!
Can you tell me the model of the female RJ45 connector?
I found this on Amazon I think it is the same. Neutrik NE8FDV-Y110-B Ethercon D-Series 110 Punch Down
Si señor. Muy bueno y es bastante práctico. Felicitaciones.
The riser is buckets??
Yep! Check out my video showing how it works
COOL!!! Very innovative brother...Rock on..and thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching!
Sensacional !!!
Built (6) 4x8 risers like this in 2006, it worked good for short term until.... Leaving weight on them over 3 or 4 days the buckets would fail. Yes fail. Also if they are exposed to cold temps the buckets become brittle. Hot temps they become soft(direct sunlight hot day).
We've been using these for several years now and never had to replace the buckets.
Come up on that thing!
Nice setup, full range in left right and subwoofer in center
being fair thats really not what the AHM is for
Totally agree, that's why it didn't work out for me
could this be used in a larger format, such as a stage?
I don’t see why not, as long as you have each section secured to another and you don’t overload it. Just remember you’re responsible if it fails though!
It would look better if the XLR sockets were mouted inside the panel, not outside. At 10:10 your cables (far left and right) are way to tight, they will fail in the future for sure.
Im glad I wasn’t the only one thinking the exact same thing. Gives those wires some slack. And then also at 12:20 the IEC power cable stretched….eek….either move the end to the closer plug or relieve some of that tension lol. I’m OCD like that. But otherwise cool vid
Great stuff, thanks for sharing!
How do you run EASE Focus 3 on Mac??
Parallels
The AHM is definitely meant and designed as an install mixer. Even when I’ve installed them, I’m not a huge fan, but they’re meant to set and forget basically.
Was your phone ringing constantly? 😀
3D printer running
Really made me nervous and i had to use an eq at 148hz to get rid of that sound :D :D :D Anyway, i love those videos ! @@arichindustries
That is a HUGE space for that size of a rig. I’ve owned the K12’s, I have the 15” EV monitors. You need about 10 more dual 18 subs for that space. Wow. Cool gig tho
3/4” ply I’m assuming?
Yes
We use the wet area rated ABS boxes for the quad and wet service face plates, and terminate with marine water resistant grade plugs. Where we operate the metal boxes are not allowed by code .
I think every engineer designs a little differently. In the broadcast end, shielding is very important. In that arena I use an off the shelf metal box with strain relief. I Like your box but I would add a screw bolster inside to strengthen corners as well as counter sink the screws. Keep up the good work, I'll stop by see what else you come up with. Never stop dreaming or revising.
That's great, it can save costs but what about sound quality? Is it quiet or is there still noise?
Very quiet, quality is just as good as any analog snake.
@@arichindustries good 👍
Ehh, the heat gun is an ugly solution. Use microphone cable for the XLRs and you'll spare yourself this whole shabang..... :)
