Words can't express the influence these people have had on my playing! I play fiddle and whistle, since 2000. Over the last 22 years, Altan's inspired me so much - I've learnt nearly all their recorded tunes (well, maybe 80%), as well as spending time in Donegal, which was unbelievable to be at sessions playing all their tunes locally! I doubt I'll ever find a session again where there was such an eclectic mix of tunes; in addition to all the "old standards," there was the whole Donegal and Scottish/cape Breton repertoire, they even played polkas and slides! Donegal is truly a musical melting pot of Ireland and of Europe, really... the Germans/schottisches (barndance), mazurkas and more is amazing.

Was hitch-hiking through Ireland last month and Joe Henry picked me up and took me for a tour of Malin Head.Very beautiful country.Stopped by the house and met Kathleen his wife and had a coffee.He says he has 6 daughters and they sing and play.Hooked up with thed on TH-cam and fine their music great.
