Do you by any chance still have this motherboard? I got ripped off being this motherboard from eBay and the seller shipped it with a burnt capacitor on one of the VRMs, the capacitor I mean is placed on the back of the of the motherboard, but it's one of the ones from the top VRMs. Is there a way I could contact or message you? I could show you which one I mean exactly, the reason I'm asking is because I'd like to know exactly which capacitor I need to buy for replacement. Thank you.

Thank you for the detailed video! I recently purchased an open-box version of this model and your video was incredibly helpful. Upon disassembling the VRM heatsink, I noticed that a thermal pad was missing in one section. Could you please share some information on the thickness of the thermal pads used in this model, specifically in the VRM and M.2 sections? I’ve observed some oil leaks and plan to replace them as well. Thanks.

Hey Steve. Is it normal for the screw that holds the mb backplate on(bottom right front screw 0:45 ) to not go in all the way causing that section of the plate to be a bit loose. The 2 front screws are slightly different from the ones in the back. They have a small post on them ?

Own three of these now. Paid total for all 3 $286 so for $95 avg each that can’t be beat. They all were open box though. This is simply the best value board for the dollar minus pcie 16x 5.0 support. Comes with 4 full speed m2 slots and the 2nd 16x slot can also run full speed at 4x. So easily with a cheap adapter you can run 5 gen4 NVMe drives on this. I originally ordered the b650 elite ax but the x670 was $20 more so I would much more prefer more connectivity options for down the road. A little stronger vrm and 1 extra usb. The extra full speed options is what makes the x670 more valuable to me.

Right at 14:08 I was able to pause it and zoom in on the 3x M2 heatsink single screw location. The extra board I was given someone superglued the stand-off onto it and it broke off. There is some damage around that underside header but it looks like it might just have missed the traces. Looks like it's the middle M2 drive out of the 3 so maybe if damaged it will only be on that slot. No biggy I can always add a 4th to the PCIe 4.0 4x slot if needed. Thanks for the 4k footage! A open box 7700X $265 & Gskill Trident Z5 Neo RGB ram is showing up tomorrow. Going to test out the board and hopefully it works fine. Won't be able to use the 3x M2 heatsink but no biggy my M2 drives are for game loading and not heavy transfer usage.

@StevesHardware I’m going to buy a 4090 for this motherboard, but I also want 2 PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSDs, and the 4090 is a x16 PCIe connector. So am I able to plug the 4090 into the top PCIe slot, one gen 5 SSD into the lightning M.2 slot, and then the second gen 5 SSD into the expansion card, plugged in to the x4 PCIe slot at the bottom of the motherboard? I understand that the M.2 expansion card is a x8 connector, but if only 4 of those lanes are being used by one x4 5.0 SSD, does it really matter?

Grabbed this for a new build Christmas 2023... refurbished for $120. Combined with a pre-black Friday 12600KF for $140 and 16x2 (32GB) CAS 16 DDR 4 3200 for crazy price of $51. Made a great inexpensive 1440p gaming monster at $1200 total including 180Hz 27" monitor. Most expensive part was the $500 7800 XT. Prices on almost everything have literally gone UP since I did this build a few weeks ago. O/C'd broke 18,000 in timespy and R23. Did I mention $1200? :)

It is actually what I was looking for as very few reviewers go into the technical aspects such as the vrm, capacitor composition etc. This is very important information for overclocking enthusiasts or for those that want to squeeze a little more performance out of a budget build. Great job. Keep up the god work. Subscribed!

Hi Steve, unfortunately I can not finde any documentation if the m.2 Xpander Card can be used in the PCI_E3 slot when using only one ssd on the card. Would be great to know, cause I don't want to have PCI_E1 at x8. Also the cooling of the VGA would be improved I guess when there is no card in PCI_E2. Cheers Dirk

Manual says that "If M2_2 is occupied, PCIE1 will downgrade to x8 mode" It does not say that M2_1 (the gen4 one on top) will cause the PCIE1 to downgrade. So I believe you can run 4 Gen4 m.2s without downgrading the PCIE1 slot.

So what is this board used for? Clearly not gaming, since the VRMs and mosfets are total overkill and even super budget boards can easily handle gaming regardless the CPU..I read audioengineering is buggy in AMD too and most editing programs are optimized for Intel. Im guessing as some niche AMD based full time video editing build then (extra m.2 ssd slots)? Or for overclocking a 7900x or something? Dont know if the x3D ones are made for decent overclocking. Just curious..

Was there any RGB LEDs under the VRM heatsink? The Gigabyte Control Center has an animated RGB Eangle taht matches it you change patterns of, but I see nothing happening on the VRM heatsink as far as ny lights showing up. Maybe this only exists on the Master, or... this is just a graphic in Gigabyte Control Cneter to indicate your' chaning the patern for all the onboard RGB headers to that setting? I have no clue, I'm blind, so I can't even make out the Eangle on the VRM now that my motherboard is installed. You can forget removing any screws at this point. I don't even know how I'm going to install the M.2's while blind now that it's all installed if there's one or two screws holding them down. I just used the SATA 3.0 ports and none of the Nvme slots (het). Which is ironic, because the 4 NVME slots was the main reason I chose this midrange board over others like the LiveMixer.

LOL I think I screamed for a full hour about what stwp1d as h377 engineer designer in his CAD program would design a motherboard with the CMOS battery buried under a heat sink. Just the abject stwpidity of it blew my mind. One, if it's user replaceable, make it easy to access and replace. Two, heat from the heatsink is going to decrease the output of the button battery and can't be great for it. But mainly point #1. If you are a motherboard engineer, do not ever hide the CMOS battery under a heat sink. I mean literally, face palm. The amount of expletive curse words that flew out of my mouth when I saw this... you can't imagine. More so than having to do finger gymnastics plugging in connectors to pinouts along the edge of the motherboard crushed into a Corsair 5000x case with next to no clearance witht he 360 RAD.
