Nobody needs another film photography channel. But here's one anyway.
I'm going to try to be different. No telling you how awesome a camera is after I have owned it for thirty seconds. There's a ton of videos on how to develop film out there already, go watch one of those if you're curious about that. No insisting that the only way to do street/fashion/landscape/astro/whatever is the way I do it. Not going to Leica fanboy, even if there is one in my profile picture.
I'm going to try and let folks peek in to what I do, adventuring around and shooting film. Sometimes it's as tame as neighborhood strolls. Sometimes it's exotic as watching whales from a Zodiac. Soon, it's going to involve some off road, ghost towns, and sleeping under the stars. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Contax G? On My Leica M? It's more likely than you think.
The Funlader G45- converting a Contax 45mm f2 from the dead G mount to Leica M mount.

You probably will not, but I wish you would do more of these. To the point with a few laughs. Cheers.
Already own Contax G1 and the 45mm f2. I also found the GxAce video and the helicoid price put me off, but recently i found a cheaper G45 helicoid housing off ebay (330$). It's not as tight tolerance or wide focus ring like the Funleader one, but it does the job. Its the same seller who offers leica M housings for the Contax G 16mm Hologon
great review, thanks for making it. I also enjoyed that Tarkovsky book, fantastic.
I can vouch for the quality of the G2 45mm lens as I have the complete G2 kit. Many people say that lens is the finest 'standard' lens ever made for 35mm, if only the G2 were a purely mechanical camera! The G2 system apart from that would be peerless. The 28mm Biogon is stunning.I toohavea Leica M2 so I bought Zeiss M Lenses for it. 50/1.5 Sonnar 35 & 28 Biogon. I think you'd impressed with all of them. Did you not consider the Zeiss M 50/2 Planar?
I did consider the 50, especially since it is cheaper. However, I prefer the 45. The slightly wider angle is a good compromise between my two traditional favorite focal lengths, 50 and 35. I don't regret buying it, but that won't stop me from getting the 35 and rehousing it for the M. I bought the new housing on sale so I just have to find a donor lens for the right price to come out ahead.
@@nobodyneedsthis I don't understand.Surely it would be cheaper to buy Zeiss M lens than to convert a Zeiss G
@@nobodyneedsthis The M Biogon is better than the G Planar by some margin
What an excellent acquisition and little video! I have the 40mm Summicron-C and the M-Rokkor 28, neither of which *supposedly* focus properly on a “regular” M. So now I wonder if Funleader might be able to help me out should I decide to get a full size M. The meter in my CL is dead with no replacement cells available. It’s not that I really *need* the meter, it’s just that it annoys me when I see a needle that doesn’t move. I’ve looked at prices for a Midland M4 and damn, you can almost by an M6 TTL for the same money!
It is a sweet lens. I did once find a video that had someone rehousing the 28 for M mount, but I can't seem to find it again. At least there's someone out there thinking along the same lines!

Two of the best looking film cameras as well. I’m in love with my black F2AS. Can’t wait to see about that beautiful Contax conversion lens!
A black paint F2 is a thing of beauty.
I’m happy to have found your channel. I took my Kodak Retina IIIC to New York City a few years back, and got some memorable b/w shots with it. Love those old all mechanical cameras! Will be waiting for more uploads from your trips!
My dad bought a Voigtlander Vito B in 1957. He and I used it until.she gave up the ghost around 1983. I just bought the same camera from Germany a few months ago and I is pristine shape and functions like she’s brand new.
You never forget that first love.
As a Nikon F and Leica M3 owner, somehow (and stupidly, let me add) I feel a step above your selection
I like the M3, but I don't often use a 50mm. If you give me a 35mm lens, it will stay on my camera like it's welded there, so I went M2. Still, the M3's a lovely camera. I've never seen an F out in the wild. Is it your daily driver?
@@nobodyneedsthis yeah, I tend to shoot on 35mm and 50mm in that order. But there's something unique with the M3 about keeping both eyes open when shooting (due to the almost 1:1 viewfinder). It's like having the framelines in augmented reality hovering over the world. The F is a wonderful camera, and probably the one I enjoy the most shooting
m2 plus canon ftb you won't need anything else.
I had an ftb for a little while, before I traded it to a guy who really wanted it. Only got one roll through it, so I don't have enough experience to know if I liked it or not.
absolutely criminally underrated!!! this is a wonderful video - please keep up the good work, and i'll be returning back for future videos <3
Thank you!
Love my F2! Solid brick of a camera and extremely reliable
And you can still get it serviced.
Pentax LX + SMC focal lengths.
I've always felt like I'm weird because I've never clicked with any of the Pentax cameras. The K1000 was uninspiring. I tried to find a Spotmatic that worked right but never have.
Error=//Olympus-OM1_//not_found
I've only used a XA and a Stylus Epic. The XA was quirky, but good. The Epic was fine, I'm just not a point and shoot guy. I've never tried any of the SLRs, I did use one of the dSLRs for a while.
"bonus grainydays toilet shot" 🤣🤣🤣
You have to acknowledge the master.
can definitely agree on your choices sir, if i could only have two cameras for the rest of my life from my collection, it would be my M3 and black paint F2 plain prism. 50mm on my M3, 24mm(definitely underrated!!!) and 35mm on my Nikon. amen.
I'm looking for a 35 for my M2. I think I might see about a non-metered prism for my F2 as well.
Love how that 45 draws. What is it?
45/2.8 Planar, OK, sorry. Saw the roses pics and loved them
It’s a rehoused Contax 45/2 G mount. I want to do another video about it soon. I love the thing.
Well this is a cool video and very welcome reminder. :) Now I may be interested in a Medalist since acquiring my Fuji GB will likely be delayed for a couple of more months. The referral to the Dan Daniel is much appreciated - thanks!
They're lovely beasts,. They work like an upscaled Barnack Leica (separate focus and framing windows) but with easier loading after the conversion. The film transport used to sound like a locomotive shop before the CLA, but that went right away. I can recommend Dan's work, and it was cheaper than I thought it would be.
