Stone Poneys - Different Drum (Live)

THE STONE PONEYS WITH LINDA RONSTADT, JAZZ HARP PLAYER GLORIA TRACY
Unfortunately the drum beat and guitars are all wrong on this arrangement.
Perfect!
H. O. T
Would sound better if those awful musicians would just stop playing
Quit knockon' the band. It's a folk song. Back it down.
The drummer is the very definition of ironic on this song. What a god-awful band. Ronstadt is thinking 'It's time to move on'.
Wow. Too bad we only got one side of the mix. No bass, no rhythm guitar, what weird sound. Oh well, she sounds great, as always.
Michael Nesmith would have gotten a lot more respect as a singer-songwriter if it hadn't been for The Monkees.
Perfect vocal performance it’s a pity the band were playing to the sound of a different song. 😆
❤❤ love 💘 her so much 😭 so beautiful 😍 💖 👑💎💍🎶🎶🎵🎵🎼🎼🎧🎤📻🎸🥁🎹📠🎷🎺❤❤.
This is priceless! The band sound like they're struggling to complete their homework from last week's music lesson, while Linda is kicking serious ass, barefoot in lime green stockings! As for the audience, "Get your head in the game, people! You're in the presence of fledgling, pocket-rocket, vocal brilliance (and gorgeousness), yet you're sitting there like it's the buffet car of the 10:25 to Union Station!"
what an amazing song and singer
I love forever.. Linda Rondstasd❤
I think a more accurate description is Linda Ronstadt and the STONED Ponies. I think the drummer is totally baked. Going solo and getting Frey and Henley and Leadon to back her was the best career move she could have made. Didn’t hurt them either.
Great tune! That clean sound is amazing! The band has to work! Helps when a woman is singing. Always liked Linda and Sheena Easton watching as a child.
Why is it so different from the record? Where is the keyboard?
Linda nailed it. I could do without that annoying guitar tone.
If you listen to the lyrics all she's saying is she's not interested in the reins being pulled in on her, nor is the band. People, it's the Bitter End in New York City, this is how it sounded to be set free.
This guitar upfront has a feeling of a downhome hootenanny in a living room or streetcorner people would dance to and sing along, a phenomenon lost to the ages as a result of high production record companies pulling the rug out from under those dancing feet. This is an invaluable testament by authentic lovers of a good time to let your hair down, unwind and let it all hang out.
There's a video of her singing with the Smothers Brothers where Dickey is very flat but Ronstadt is flying high above the thing. This has a different but similar effect. A studio recording of this you can find anywhere if that's what you like, but there's something to be said for an imbalance in performance that witnesses genius exposed many times at its greatest level.
People here blame the lead guitarist for somehow fucking up the song; but in fact it is Linda who cuts off the lead's solo around the 1:28 minute mark.
Yeah I hear what you're saying, she didn't like the way the song was going and wanted to get through it.
Miley Cyrus remakes so many songs, why can't she do this? Great video. Bridgeport Ohio.
The audio on this video sucks. You cannot hear any of the base. Was his amp even plugged in for this show? (Seriously)
Love this song. No embellishments - she is talented enough without them and looks like she really enjoys her craft. A true performer
Since when was this song a shuffle?
It's almost like a 1/2 time signature.
One a scale from 1 to 10.... Linda is a 10. Band is a 4. Whoever is running the soundboard is a 1.
She nailed it.
Beautiful song ! ❤
Whew!!!
Man, she was cute.
I love this song!! Everytime I hear it it reminds me of Lorna Morello (aka Lorna La Loca) from Orange Is The New Black 😂
Amazing, beautiful woman, terrific voice
The lovely lovely Linda Ronstadt xxx
What a set of pipes on that gal. This is not the Stone Poneys or the players on the hit recording. A young glorious singer sent on the road with a bunch of disconnected guys. Still that voice displays glory. Soon the finest musicians would surround her and we would all fall in love. Sigh...
What a horrible arrangement, thanks to Linda for saving it.
Written by Mike Nesmith BEFORE the Monkees.
This is a fantastic peek into the very early moments of what would be a life long and brilliant career.
She’s bobbing her head and overexpressing to help them with rhythm. Lovely voice, sad band! Bless em.
Year this, and setting? Seems a couple of years after the original.
Pretty girl.
oh come on guys, i love this performance
What a Talent
Still in love.
Geez, this sonic masterpiece was written by a 22 year old primate.
Poneys... the label has a meeting with you scheduled after... Bring your picks & desk contents.
Man, that lead guitar is just soooo wrong! Could this possibly be the recording that knocked me out in the '60s?!
If you were there, the band wouldn't sound like this, the recording was appallingly mic'd/mixed.
❤
Diamond in some really rough looking grass
Linda....delicious!
