Advanced Multilayer PCB Electro-Magnetic Simulation, AWR Microwave Office Tutorial 3
In this Microwave Office tutorial, I demonstrate how to simulate a microstrip transmission line on a four-layer PCB that includes a prepreg with a dielectric constant different from that of the core. Understanding the impact (or lack thereof) of the prepreg can help design wider low-impedance traces that use the second inner layer as a return ground instead of the closer first inner layer. This allows for the implementation of microstrip structures with both low-impedance and high-impedance distributed components (e.g., inductors in filters, which would be too narrow if placed directly above the prepreg).

      I think it is connected to either the detector output or the output of the first audio amplifier stage. You can tell by the presence of some higher frequency content in the waveform. But it is part of the audio path so close enough.

    This looks great! What did you do for the combination action? (I'm working on a home organ right now, and I'm building a lot of my own stuff)

    • @SP6GK
      @SP6GK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment, as for now the combination action is still waiting for the software which got a little bit messy and I am thinking about rewriting it to STM32 instead of Arduino. Physically I have a set of momentary switches that are connected to the same matrix of switches as the stops tabs are. My MIDI board has separate rows for the combination action but columns are still common. MidiTizer offers an option to control action pistons using MIDI commands but I wanted to use another approach. Namely: detect press of any piston, set all tabs to off position, determine which piston was pressed, set appropriate tabs to on position. Of course my 3D printed tabs don’t move on their own so this is only a software trick. Middle piston between generals and combinations is actually to “go back” to the setting that is chosen by the physical tabs. It would be confusing if software allowed the player to modify the ranks using the tabs and pistons at the same time since there is no indication of which tab was turned or disabled by a given piston and which was turned on manually. So my proposed software locks the player to two modes: by hand registration only or combination action only. You enter the combination mode by pressing any piston, the chosen combination is immediately registered, you press the middle piston and the organ goes back to using manual tabs. This approach can be thrown out of the window if your organ uses proper SAMs or you have no tabs at all and just want a combination only set-up. I was aiming for something that looks and feels like a real console on a budget. If you are interested in some code, I have updated the description with the GitHub repository. This repo includes an “unstable” version that I have yet to test which has configuration files and implements combination but is very likely not going to work on the first try. For the switches I have used simple momentary buttons from eBay, on the top of each button I have 3D printed a cap with a number. In the description you can find a link to my Thingiverse profile where I have posted all files including the piston caps. I hope this helps, other info is on my website. Don't hesitate to ask more, I’m glad to hear that more people are building their own organs. Good luck with your project!

    Excellent restoration. Surprised at good performance on SW; although, tuning is not precise. Nice to see internals -- especially the tuning mechanism and dial cord arrangement. Not sure, but it appears like you (or someone before you) replaced the mixer grid capacitor with a "gimmick" (i.e., twisted wire) capacitor? Maybe not -- perhaps it's a piece of wire connecting the shielded grid wire to ground on the base of the oscillator section of the variable capacitor.

    What is the difference between broadcast, shortwave, am and fm?

    • @SP6GK
      @SP6GK 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Broadcast is an american term for commercial medium wave, that is band from around 550 to 1600KHz (0,55-1,6MHz). Short wave band is more complicated when it comes to allocations but your typical commercial stations will be in a spread from 7 to 16MHz (short wave total is from 2 to 26MHz) . On those frequencies commercial stations will use AM (amplitude modulation), in which audio is carried by change in signal's amplitiude. FM is frequency modulation but it is commonly used for naming ultra short wave which is your local radio stations at about 98-108MHz. Terms like short wave, medium and long are related to wavelength which is inversly proportional to frequency. Higher frequency->shorter wavelength.

    • @watcher818
      @watcher818 ปีที่แล้ว

      Folks confuse AM and SW and FM. AM is a mode used on the broadcast band. AM is also used ion the SW bands for broadcasting. FM is another mode where the sound modulated the frequency. Using AM (no matter what freq range you are on) the freq stays the same, only the "amplitude' or level of sound to make it simple changes. Broadcast band that uses AM mode, is the usual 550khz, to 1650 khz. Don't confuse modes with frequency coverage bands.

      Hi, excluding power supply this is all tube based project. Mixer is a ECH81 tube which is triode+heptode. Triode part is being used as an local oscillator (hartley configuration) and heptode is actual rf mixer. Thanks for your comment, i appreciate it.

    Attention Europeans! During six years Russia makes propaganda on Radio Amateur’s bands against the West and Ukraine. They do that practically 24 hours a day, saying very bad, rude words, playing music and jamming other operators from the former Soviet Union who make radio contacts with the rest of the World. The call signs of the most aggressive Ham Radio operators from Russia are: RK3OC - Radio Kilowatt Three Oscar Center, RL3AL - Radio Lima Three Alpha Lima, RX6CP - Radio X-ray Six Charley Papa, R7KD - Radio Seven Kilowatt Delta, EW2MM - Echo Whisky Number Two Mexico Mexico, RA1TD - Radio Alpha One Tango Delta, RK6AR - Radio Kilowatt Six Alpha Radio. The purpose of Russia to unleash the World War Three on the territory of Europe. Please, you have to interfere with a situation, otherwise it will be late. rurik.us/archives/25485

    Yes, that's right for 6 years at these frequencies, the Russian Federation has been propagating and inciting national hatred. Russian stations insult and humiliate the whole of Europe and the peoples that live in the European Union, the US State and the people of America, as well as the state of Ukraine and the Ukrainian nation. With all the appeals to the Russian authorities on this phenomenon in the radio broadcast - the Russian authorities ignore this. We Ukrainians are trying to reach out to the citizens of Europe so that they hear about this problem. All the Nazi propaganda of Russia is aimed at inciting the third world war in Europe.

    • @SP6GK
      @SP6GK 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you very much for your response. I knew that there are propaganda stations but never heard one with such a serious warning for us. I agree that Russian authorities are probably ignoring this issue. Hunting down station like this one is very simple, so it gives us to think why they dont do it. Indeed this situation reminds me of nazi Germany propaganda before WWII, espacially the Gleiwitz "incident". Thanks to anyone who is disrupting these illegal broadcasts.

I didn't check it yet but i's sure that in power supply there is much dust. Outside the case there is no dust because i'm cleaning it once at week. I saw your diy case.
