Tropical plants, ferns, grasses, palms and lots of dark green, lush, leafy foliage throughout our garden in Neath, South Wales.
With winding, curved pathways which lead you on a journey through a sea of colour. Vibrant, bold, fiery Crocosmia and the scent of blooming flowers.
Hi, I'm Tracey, and my husband is Tony, we love spending time in our Tropical Style Garden. See how we grow in a UK climate. Watch as we plant and enjoy our garden.
We cleared the overgrown 'garden' in 2020. Planting more Tropical Style Plants in 2021.
2024 we removed the last of the lawn to allow for more planting space and built pathways throughout the garden. It is always a working progress and recently we introduced a small Wildlife Pond & a Greenhouse.
We mix the Tropical planting, with Hardy Plants that will withstand the typical "British" weather.
Hope the videos fill you with inspiration for your own garden.

Here are a few of the Best Performing Plants in my Tropical Garden, here in South Wales, UK. (and also a few that didn't do too well). Grab a coffee, and join me in a visit, to my ...

Making some changes in my Tropical Garden, and looking at the growth that I've achieved this year. Not the best of summer's here in the UK, but overall the plants have done amazingly well. As usual chicken manure pellets and lots of liquid seaweed helped all the plants reach their best growth 🌿🌴🌱 I also found some old footage of how the garden looked only 3 years ago. Still looking lush and lovely. What’s the red flower In front of the trachy? 🌴🌸🌺
A really nice relaxing video, thanks Tracey. The garden is looking lovely now it’s filling out, Sarah.
Thank you Sarah, for your kind words. It was lovely to get out there on my day off and get some jobs done 🌺🌿🌴❤️
Hi Tracey, Everything is looking so lovely in the fall.. Thank you for sharing.. I think I prefer fall to summer now... Cheers, Leesa in France.
@@Islandgirl4ever2 Thanks Leesa, it was nice to be able to get out there, it's been raining for a few days, so lots to brush up, but all tidy again now....till tomorrow when the bits fall off the trees again. The flowers are lasting really well tho, I'm surprised it's quite mild weather at the mo 🌿🌺❤️
looks amazing! you have your own botanical paradise. i aspire to have a garden as beautiful as yours in the future.
@@bknomad283 your so kind, thank you for your kind words. Keep at it, and it will come just be patient 🌴🌿🌺 it took until the third year before an explosion of growth 🤣🤣
New viewer, had to go back to find what happened to that gorgeous mural… 6 months on, how hard you have both worked. I’m just starting my garden over in Hereford so you have inspired me!! It’s beautifully done!!
@lizcookson269 aww thanks so much, that was just after, if you go to my newest vid, it shows the new wall now built and painted. Half the mural is still there and the phormium has now grown back wonderfully, you would never know it had happened now in the garden, oh and I've added a small Wildlife Pond too (and the greenhouse is now in) 🤣🤣 I'm glad you are finding it inspirational deffo have a look at the new vid it's called 'design ideas' Thanks so much for watching, greatly appreciated ❤️👍🌺🌿🌴
Lots of good ideas. Funny your hot lips is now mainly red and mine gone the other way mainly white! 🌴🌺🌹
@@daphneking3954 🤣🤣🤣 Did you know they can change colour depending on the weather 🤣🤣🤣 I'm glad you enjoyed. Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated 😁😁👍👍👍🌴🌿🌺❤️
@@traceyrowlands1220I thought it might be a nutrient deficiency so I have vowed to get it out of its pot and into the ground next year. Just got to find it a space! 🌹🌺🌴😀
@@daphneking3954 it will do okay in a pot or in the ground. But will grow bigger in the ground. My hot lips are now 2 or three years old. I cut them back to half near the winter to tidy them up a bit but give them a bit of protection, then cut them right back in the spring and leave them grow x I doubt yours have anything wrong, they are tough as old boots 👍👍👍
Beautiful. My kind of garden. Be careful with the eucalyptus though; the roots will travel just under the surface and if it's too close to the house, it may cause problems to the foundations.
Thank you for that ,I nearly brought one yesterday .it was about 4ft for £12 pound B&Q ..I wont now .but they are beautiful plants ..Tracy your garden is so lovely ,I would want to spend every evening out there with wine ..
Thanks so much for watching and no, thankfully the eucalyptus is down the bottom of the garden 🤣😁 🌱🌿🌺🪴❤️
I wonder if you could keep one in a pot You can also chop the top off to keep them small, but I couldn't believe how fast it's grown in one year 🤣🤣🤣❤️ we haven't spent a single evening out there sitting this year, the summer hasn't been good enough, but we have had a few afternoon meals by the table 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love it out there x
@@traceyrowlands1220 it is so lovely ,a real credit to your hard work .Tracy or they frost hardy ?
@@mandytyers4481 oh yes deffo frost hardy, mine was out all winter last year as a tiny branch. If you cut the top off it stops it maturing so much and keeps the leaves young and ornamental ❤️
Still looking great Tracey ❤
@@janinewoodbridge3814 thanks so much, I hate the season coming to the end 😔

Thanks for your kind words. It's been hard work but we've loved every moment watching it mature and this year it's exploded 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm glad you enjoyed the vid 😁😁❤️🌿🌴🌺
Looking beautiful ❤
Thankyou, it's really grown this year even though it hasn't been the best summer by far. Just been out again to buy a centre trellis for the wall. Now to put it up this afternoon ❤️🤣 x
Looking fantastic Tracey
Thankyou, we've been back to B&Q this morning to buy a new Trellis to go up today and a little Jasmine Plant as I wanted an evergreen there preferably .... More work today, and just looked it up, the one I bought is not evergreen 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍
I wish I’d had a blank canvas to work on because 20 years on I’m still trying to change the previous owner’s mess !
@@kateeveritt3292 Don't be fooled. It was a complete mess, we've been here for 17 years and in 2020 I created the blank canvas during the lockdown but then decided I didn't like the 'tidy green square' look. It wasn't for me so started digging beds one at a time. Have a look at my first video called "How I started my Tropical garden" then you'll see what it was like before. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated ❤️👍
Wonderful couple ❤ I ‘m from Italy and I will stay in same hotel in December with my wife (first time in Tenerife). Did you like it? Thank you 😊
Yes it was a beautiful clean hotel, make sure you take a look over the other side and take your breakfast over that side of the hotel as it was much nicer in the ocean cafe, just wish we had found it sooner. Lovely walks along the front too, but the only drawback was there was lots of British people there, we usually prefer turkey but it was a nice change. The rooms were beautiful tho, nice views and free to use safe in room. The shopping square is lovely just a small 20 minutes away along the prom and full of restaurants too. It's called San Blas and worth a little visit. Thanks for watching. 👍🌺🌴
Thanks for the video nice to see the plants we are trying to grow in their natural climate. My daughter and I had a 2 night trip to Marrakesh in June and to see all their plants was amazing 🌴🌺🌹🍃❤️
@@daphneking3954 Thanks for watching. The palms there were beautiful, hope you enjoyed Marrakech, when we went I found the market square really busy but the alley ways were too scary for us, we were too frightened of getting lost inside. The hotel was beautiful tho ❤️🌴🌿
Thanks for the holiday video .i loved your Turkey video too, Hope it was really nice for you both ❤
Yes, we had a lovely time. I thought this time I'd show some of the plants. I was so jealous of those palm trees, they were huge ❤ ❤

Love the pots Tracy, they look great .ive not seen any bargain plants yet . I painted my fence black years ago .and this year i brought black fence pots that just hook on the fence , i filled with hostas and ferns . Has the same effect .just see the foliage.
Thankyou, I bet they look fab with ferns & Hostas. ❤️👍 Ideas for next year 🌱🌴🌿👍👍👍👍
Wall looks lovely . I also want to garden centre today got some compost some cobbles to edge borders and fell in love with a yucca rostrata but £349 was too much! Weather here in Essex awful rain rain and more rain till 6 then sun! Forecast better for tomorrow so in garden planting my new purchases from Craig at grow paradise!
Oooohhhh £349 that's pricey, ours was £200 and that was the most expensive plant we've ever bought but it's grown loads already. It was raining here this morning but brightened up lovely. I love having packages from Grow Paradise, they are always wrapped beautifully and with a little thank you note inside. Yes, I prefer the wall now with a little something going on, until I give it another quick coat of black next year, that's why I didn't want anything permanent yet....🤣🤣 I hope the planters stay up and don't fall off 🤣🤣🤣 Enjoy your planting day ❤️
I bet you'll end up going back for the plant now it's in your mind 🤣🤣🤣🤣 we saw hours nearly every week for 6 months before we bought it 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍

Well, thank you. It will probably need another coat of paint (next year) so didn't want to go fixing anything permanent just yet, and I can see it from my kitchen window so wanted to just brighten it up a bit. I just hope they don't fall off 🤣🤣🤣 it's only a narrow ledge ❤️🌺🌱🌴

@@daphneking3954 and I totally agree, if a plant gives you pleasure to look at then why not see it everyday, no matter what the garden style, I like a complete mis match 😁❤️😊
@@traceyrowlands1220we are very alike in our plant choices! I’m binging your videos from day one and thoroughly enjoying them. I only started my tropical journey this year so on a steep learning curve! BTW my salvia has revcovered from its transplant just waiting for the dahlias to do so! Best wishes from Essex
You will have to make some vids, I'd love to see the transformation,so glad to hear your Salvia had picked up, they are lovely plants, my purple salvia has drooped a bit after I moved it. I read that when transplanting you should cut all the flowers off to help it recover, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Hopefully it will settle in now before the winter. I'm off now till Tuesday so I hope that the weather will brighten up, it was quite chilly here in South Wales today. I think a trip to the garden centre is on the cards for Saturday morning. Have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend ❤️😊👍🌺
Same here Tracey if I like it I plant it ❤
You got the same taste as me with planting ❤️
Nice tour ,fairly new subscriber so understand the spaces etc! I’m new to tropical style gardening only finished building the raised bed 3 weeks ago. Been planting up from the pots that have housed the plants I’ve bought over the last 3 months. I moved my purple salvia from another bed and it didn’t go too well! The whole thing drooped but starting to recover now fingers crossed. The dahlias seem to have survived the move. Still room for more plants (isn’t there always) but might wait till next year to see what survives the winter.🌴🌹🌼
I'm so glad you enjoyed watching, much appreciated and thank you for subscribing ❤️ I'm hoping the move of the salvia will be okay, it has drooped a bit but it wasn't planted for long anyway in its original space. I haven't bought many plants lately, I've been doing some cuttings and splitting some grasses to make some more plants. I'm glad your garden work has been going well, it sounds like you've been very busy lately ❤️🌺🌱🌿
Gorgeous!!! Your garden is one of my favourites.. You have inspired me to add more tropical plants!! Thanks!
Thank you so much for watching and Subscribing ❤️ It's lovely to hear that my garden is enjoyed by others as much as I enjoy it. I love spending time out there and can't wait for my next day off. It's great to mix some tropical plants in with some evergreens. I've learnt everything from watching TH-cam and getting ideas too for my garden. None of it was ever planned and I just get an idea and go for it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good luck with your garden ❤️🌿🌱🌺

Hi your garden is beautiful. I have a small garden. Can i ask where do you hang your washing.
Thank you for watching. I do have a washing line that is a retractable one (but it's always out) it is joined to the outhouse and runs all along the wall near the tiki bar. It's joined to the wall at the bottom ❤️ if you look in some videos you may see it 😂😂😂 I hope you enjoy your garden too x

Aww Thank you ever so much ❤️🌴🌱
We tried this garden centre on our to ogmore. Our experience with the restaurant was very dissappointing!! I wont be going there again. I ordered a ploughmans meal. £10.50 . When it arrived. It was served on a chopping board and well spread out to disguise how litle was there for the money. There were 3 rasberries included which were black inside. There was a few little black grapes included but they were shrivelled up and very wrinkled and dry Well and truly gone off!! The pork pie was a mini mini minature and there was one green piece of lettuce with red baby leaf underneath. When it was pointed out to the chef the rasberries were black inside, i expected him to change them and at least apologise for the condition of them but he put them to one side and ignored the complaint and carried on like we had never spoken Disgusting attitude, we got up and left and will never ever go back.. they were quick to take the money but didnt want to provide a good service...😢
That's not very good at all is it 😞 we prefer to go for breakfast in Pyle Gardens Centre. None of them are cheap but Pyle is really good food. I wouldn't bother with Wyevale garden centre the last few times haven't been good. I think the restaurant in Pyle garden centre is called the olive tree restaurant and it's always busy which is a good sign. Great garden centre too 🌴🌱🌿
