Love Gary
Man thank you for this information. I just found you but I’m subbed, keep it up man your channel has so much potential!
A useful and informative series, thank you,
I just received my masters in military history. I love to talk about ancient military details similar to this video. As a historian, addressing a future Historian like myself. What advice could you give me if I wish to do something similar to this. Including writing articles and possibly books ? Thank you
lectures 2 and 3 are labeled conversely
Thanks for this, after the lex friedman podcast I am watching every single video on youtube that Dr. Adrete has to learn more than any human in history about the ancient world in rome/the Mediterranean
Why to images?
What do you mean?
Sorry, why no images? He refers to images.@@Caylynmillard
Hi mr zillard at school we are goin on a field trip to the museum. We are also learning about greek philosophers like socrates and his student plato. I am sick right now and i might miss a few days of school. On halloween , me and jt will be a banana. We also stopped getting in trouble bcuz the teachers are strict. And belive it or not , jt is very behaved. The teacher said i was a good kid so she moved me to the front but im used to sitting in the beck.😢
That's so funny, I was a banana a couple of years back. Tell him "hi" for me. Lol you will do fine no matter where you are in the classroom. Hope you get better and have fun at the field trip! Be good!
This was such a great series. Thank you so much for sharing it. I hope to show this to my son one day.
Britain was not "on top of the world" after WWI, however it may have seem. It was financially exhausted after WWI and massively overextended. Furthermore, it gained NO "new colonies in Palestine, Jordan and the Arab heartland". These were League of Nations Mandates.
His voice sounds like it would be Thoreau’s.
Is this really a free lecture as indicated. I don't think so since it is a episode of the teaching company that now is called Wondrium and sells the episodes they have produced. Unfortunately I can't find this episode to buy. On Audible this one is missing to buy. Won't download it since then where does the Teaching Company or Wondrium get the potential from to produce such courses, if it is all for free.
Great lecture. Very low volume.
Checked. Not low.

Indians are racists.
i have my own definition for science: "a valid scientific theory must be mechanical". so right away, i clean up any ghosts, spirits, gods, goblins and such. i also clean up quantum mechanics' probability, weird superposition, entanglement and such. but i also clean up special relativity in as much as its postulates have no mechanical grounding. i'd love to collab.
Which definition is given in the video that you are responding to? If I had a gun to my head I would say that science is "a methodology that utilizes mathematics to describe phenomena and predict/explain falsifiable/empirical data/observation in order to test wether certain statements are true or false." Glad to see others grappling with these definitions.
In the video the question is brought up about the Mongols and the perception it was a nomadic steamroller of a mass murder machine. No doubt they could be brutal but when one considers the numbers of deaths attributed to them it doesn't add up in my admittedly limited knowledge of the subject. They couldn't have wipe out every city, town, and hamlets citizens they encountered. Polo an others state that many cities were flourishing but with others abandoned still. We know the Mongol's did not want to kill people with skills they could use. We also know people are not stupid. One would think that if a horde is plowing through a country word would spread ahead of it eventually and people would get out of its path. Once word was spread, other population centers would be looking out for it. Chances are that towns with enough people would rotate men scouting out in the general known direction. It would be done for basic mutual survival. Once detected people would fall back to a place, they felt provided the best chance of survival, which would mostly be cities with people and resources. It is basic human nature. Once in these cities, people would have had to find a means to exist eventually so by default, they had to be skilled enough in something to earn enough to survive. Someone had to be around to raise crops, tend animals, and have the means to distribute them to the flourishing cities to feed them. Could it be that the Mongols more often than not found cities ahead of them mostly abandoned and were more herders of humans which were flocked together in cities by design and or human nature? Could these cities have then flourished because of the condensing of skilled tradesmen, who Mongols knew would be useful, and refugees who took up roots and never returned to their places of origin?
I agree, I think the Europeans of subsequent generations made the Mongols a sort of "catch-all" for anything that is of "plague proportions" with respect to the image of darkness they allegedly portend. This is probably an insecurity given the failure of Europe to defeat them and what it took for them to be ultimately defeated. Interesting questions and topic you raise.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Such a goof
Another comment…Watch the movie “Zulu”. Great
I’ll bite. Good lecture sir!!!! I love this stuff, and keep up the good work
thank you, love it:) all best for you:)
Ironically, I think the Bismarck was disabled by a single torpedo from a WW1 bi-plane torpedo bomber, and became a sitting duck for British battleships.
The Swordfish was introduced in 1936, not WW1
Excellent!
Please if you share with us the great course on mongol empire..... In vedio form

Why did this man rebrand to “The Thinkery”
The "thinkery" is a funny name based on a Greek phrase from one of my favorite books called "the clouds"--a story about Socrates that lampoons him and shows his wisdom to be a farce. Hope you are doing well J! Watch the boy and the Heron! lol
thanks
I’ll be giving these a listen.
Do you have trouble sleeping to?
@@kensvideos1 yes and no, I work really long night shifts.
