Laser Assisted Machining (LAM) in Abaqus/CAE: Theory and Simulation Explained
In this tutorial, we explored laser-assisted machining modeling and simulation, focusing on a moving heat source. To do so, we reviewed the concept of laser-assisted machining, its background, and its implementation. We also discussed different laser scanning paths that can be defined. Moreover, we covered thermal modeling, including boundary conditions and associated equations. Additionally, we briefly discussed how Abaqus subroutines are utilized in this modeling procedure. Finally, we reviewed the simulation results.

Hello I want to model a themo-hydro-mechanical analysis. As you know, Abaqus in the SOIL option just considers a fluid. But I want to calculate the pore pressure more detaild. How do you think I can add a more accurate analysis of the temperature-dependent pore pressure to the thermal-mechanical analysis? Is it necessary to write the entire process of hydro-thermal-mechanical analysis with UEL subroutine or can only pore pressure be added in each increment to thermal-mechanical analysis, i.e. use the sequentially coupled method via inpute file or UEL sobroutine? Hi, If you mean to define a parameter for that in the settings, there isn't such thing; the shear failure will be calculated by the Abaqus based on the compressive and tensile material properties you have provided.
The English should be improved overall. An example: at 7:34 "The strain is abstained....the curvature is abstained..." should be "The strain is obtained" because "to abstain" means means "to not to do something", "to refrain" etc

How to plot residual stress ?
Hello, First you need to obtain the residual stress of your model. One way to model residual stress is to use "Predefined Field" tool in Abaqus. next, it's better to create a path of nodes or edges of the region of your model where you need to analyze the residual stress. after that use the "Create XY Data" tool to plot.

Hi, thanks for your comment. You see only these two options (Thermo-mechanical and eigenstrain) because that is the newer version of the AM Modeler. In this part of video, it is showing the older version, which have three options.

I have problem, I am modelling a 3 point bending system. I need to applu a boundary condition of 200 mm on the centre. The displacement is at 5 mm/min. Now I am not getting what values do i need to put in Time period, Initial, Minimum and maximum increments. Can you please explain me that?

Hello, thank you for your compliment. The time period in Abaqus explicit means the physical time of your analysis. It determines how long your analysis want to simulate. For example impact simulation with step time equal 3 means that 3 seconds of the process will be simulated.

how to get more frames? or on what feature does the number of frames depend on?
In the Step module, go to the Field Output manager window, and select whatever Frequency option you want to set the frames. The max number of frames in an analysis can be number of increments, but due to saving storage memory, you can request fewer frames. You can see the article in the description (section 3 of the article) to understand this.

Hello, thanks for your comment. check these three things in your model: 1. Check your material properties. 2. Check the Displacement you applied in your model; it might be too high for your model. 3. Check the number of elements. In a truss, each member of it must be assigned to only one element. After you checked the items above, if the problem still exists, your model must be checked completely.

I am using VUMAt code and i am applying a predefined velocity in intial on the ball and applying pressure on top frame in step one.
