I also wanted to ask if you ever had issues using plastic tape in these AS2 feeders? Shame about the ROM. I've never seen one like that before... would it be possible to remove the whole mounting from the board, and put it into the ZIF socket that way? I'm guessing, with such a low serial number and a sales rep model, this would have been a prototype, and easy removal / insertion of the firmware would have been their priority, not expecting the device to be around 4 years later, never mind over 40! It'd be interesting to see if there's any hidden features / test modes left behind. I wonder if someone could knock up an emulator for it in MAME?

I didn't care that much about the printed signage, but kept the moving LED display part of it. it was working, but then I moved it around and there was a loose barrel connector and it went on and off a few times, and now it won't come on. @@LoveMyRottweiler1Hi! It's been a while since I've had my hands in the Selectric. The carriage advance issue is 90% likely due to waxy lubricant. Yes, it will be worth more working / refurbished, but probably not enough of an added to justify refurbishing it. Check to see if the white plastic pulley on the main 'cycle shaft' is cracked. If it is, the machine will make a lumpy-lumpy sound as the cracked tooth contacts the drive belt. The fix is easy for golfball typewriter nerds, but not for normal people. Watch Duane Jensen's videos for a taste. I'd sell it as is, probably on Facebook Marketplace if possible.

      @@kurtanderson9418 I buy gaskets and rings from Honda OEM parts suppliers like RevZilla or similar. I clean needle valves and jets, if possible.

    Out of curiosity do you know if the panda placer handles 0201 components? Even if it isn't with the servo based auto feeders.

      @@TalpaDK I haven't tried 0201. You would need a smaller nozzle, which I have on order currently.

      It should. I'd recommend getting a smaller nozzle. There are CN020 nozzles you can buy that should fit the end or a CN030. The cameras might be something you'd like upgraded too. I do find that my 0402 components do place with a little bit of variability. I might just need to better tram my machine though.

    I just concluded 3 or 4 days working with E3D. Same guy as listed in the email, as a matter of fact. The problem still persists today. E3D will have you checking everything until you reiterate the fact that your printer worked fine with the 3.11 firmware. Then they step back. Looks as though they can't fix it. I bought a PRUSA EDITION REVO SIX Hot end, that doesn't work well with Prusa. And as far as the faulty heater core goes: how does it fix itself with a firmware change? Magic? This is SAD !!

    Poor packing, I send CRTs all over the world, they need to be packed in one box with packing peanuts the that box goes in another box with more packing peanuts, the boxes have to be new also. Never had a problem, only last month I sent a Sony Trinitron PVM-14M4 800 line CRT tube all the way to Canada from the UK with no problems at all.

    Dear nickyDoes, Thank you for the excellent video. Do you know the resistance value when the tube contact switch is closed? I'm currently thinking of re-designing the thing and placing a micro switch in there as the tape switches die like hell in our lab. Another question would be if you know which diode and sensors are used to implement the photoelectric barrier. Best Regards

    Hey Nick, I'm sorry you didn't have a great time with the machine. Thank you for your honest opinion. It's feedback like yours that helped us greatly improve the design over the past two years since your version. Linear rails greatly improved rigidity (although your X gantry looks incredibly loose, tightening the rollers should fix that), we've done tons of OpenPnP config adjustments (many because of you specifically!), and an improved camera QC process. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and helping make the Lumen better as a result.

    • @nickydoes
      @nickydoes หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, however there was no realistic upgrade path or assistance to help Opulo early adopters to migrate as you learned. Josef Prusa mastered that trick. The LumenPnP never made a single board, despite hours of attempts, which stings. Service and assistance was difficult - I related my bottom camera replacement story already. Basically, I never felt Opulo's love despite joining the family. The PandaPlacer was populating 0603s two days after it arrived, and is now placing 0402s consistently. It is also 1/3 the cost. No, I'm not a shill. I paid full price for their products and have no hard or soft comp from PP. I'm just very satisfied with their product.

    I have a question about why there is gear oil on the tip of the horn with the cardan, there is a hole in the middle of the sleeve along with the crosshead, there is oil leaking right in this hole in the center of the cardan sleeve that fits into this notch at 3:47, could it be that my leak is due to this last rubber ring that is placed on the tip at 3:47, thank you if you can help me

    • @nickydoes
      @nickydoes 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tail housing seal keeps the oil in. The rubber part with the internal spline is not an oil seal. Is your tail housing seal leaking?

    • @rhonnymarques6560
      @rhonnymarques6560 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Gearbox oil is leaking in that hole in the center of the crosshead sleeve, not in the tail retainer, it's new and it doesn't leak, and that cardan sleeve that goes on the tail in that little hole in it, the crosshead is all dirty with oil, have you seen that, thanks For your attention, I'm from Brazil, thank you

    I am guessing with what a set of plugs is worth that the cost of new gaskets would go unnoticed Don't be pennywise and pound foolish with an aircraft
