Thank you your informative post. I have a post for a Hurco VMX60SR 5axis mill needs some work. Can I send my file to you? Is the post the only thing can can effect the code output for your machine? Gibbs website states that they have a library of 13000 post, but none of them work out of the box for me. They all had errors. (CS changes, multi-part programming, hole features operations just to list a few) Some of the errors caused machine crashes because the posted code did not match the machine sim. In fact, I worked on a 5axis post for five years with Gibbs until we understood where the error was coming from. It was in the MDD. The post department never had this set correctly and it wasn’t until I reached out to the Gibbs forum where someone was able to guide me to where the error was, even though he never viewed my files. As you can tell I am set a bit upset about whole ordeal. I did give my reseller a chance to make things right, by providing us with a new error free post or removing the statement on the website about having “error free post”. Neither things have yet to happen. They did however agree to work with me to get the post corrected, but with all the troubles we had in the past, my employer will not allow this to happen because he thinks if we get something changed, the machine will just crash again. So here I am, programming and machine, with a faulty post, hoping nothing bad doesn’t happen. Sorry for ranting about this. This isn’t probably the best place to vent about my past issues. But I do want to make it clear, the Gibbs was willing to make corrections to my post. Unfortunately, my reseller and the Gibbs post department did not know where the error was. It was up to me to tell Gibbs where the error was. I am not a post writer. This is an unreasonable expectation to put on the Gibbs user. The information that I need to correct the issue came from the Gibbscam user forum, not my reseller, not the Gibbspost department. This is why I want Gibbs to remove the “error free post statement” from their website as I believe some Gibbs users will believe this, causing them to have a bad day. For Gibbs to make a flat out statement that they have error post is an overstatement. No one can be a total expert on every machine type, cnc builder, and CNC control. You, the Gibbs user, are the one responsible to make sure you have good code for your machine. Do not expect Gibbs to do this for you. However Gibbs will work with you to make things right if you give them a chance. Like I said. If Gibbs would have gave me an error free post for a Hurco VMX60SR machine with Winmax9 control or remove the “error free post” statement from the website. I would not have posted this.

For those searching how to also flip a part that is rounded, especially in older versions of gibbs, you can use Modify> mirror and use z to mirror. I found this after forever being frustrated in Gibbs 2011. I'd love to hear of another way in Gibbs that is that old if anyone knows. Imagine you have a donut cut in half like a letter C ....That shape, if you import and you want the rad to be up like an upside down U. Always had a difficult time aligning with shapes like that. Thanks for the vid!!

Could you compare zoller TMS or even TDM systems to yours. There seems to be a lot of thing missing such as feed and speeds with machine dependance/spindle dependance, depending on m aterials, ... Is there any compatibility with standard tool info such as DIN4000/ISO13399 or gtc package ? Is there any tool library that you can import with tool manufacturers ? Is there any connectivity to machines and tool presetters ? Is there features such as where used : which programs shares the same tools, which assemblies shares the same components,...

I am a daily GibbsCam user since 2011. This video repeats the same things and doesn't go through everything involved in making a tool. yes, number of flutes, length, stick out, and all the basic stuff. You really should have shown how to create 2d and 3d tools, created custom tool holders using parametric, geometry or solid. These things would have been informative. But here we were stuck with a man who probably takes 3 days to make a program and thinks hand ground brazed carbide works better than quality tooling from reputable manufacturers. Do better Gibbs. Your reseller in Idaho is the absolute worst and we can't even get rid of him. You guys keep asking him how good he is doing and do not consider the fact that we are unsatisfied. I know that if my company wasn't so heavily invested in this software, we would use something with better support and training. esprit, mastercam, or NX would be nice. especially since the Siemens 840d sl post, mdd and machine sim cause crashes but we have to pay to get them fixed. it's a joke.
