Wow!!! What a wonderful gathering of peoples!!! So much color! so much pageantry!! I see so much misinformation on these comments it is hard to know WHERE to start. First, some of us need to bring down the temperature in these comments. Second, people Need to get some of their facts straight. NO... Hungarians are NOT Turks..... But during the early middle ages when the Magyars made their entrance into Eastern Europe they resembled the more numerous Turkic peoples which the settled populations had seen and dealt with earlier in Culture, Dress, modes of warfare, Weaponry,( the Hungarians like the Turkic peoples were Skillful Archers and Archery is still popular in Hungary) possibly even religions and possibly physiognomy, that the Slavs , Germans Arabs and Byzantines lumped them in together with Turkic peoples. And to the untrained Ear Turkic and Magyar SOUND remarkably similar. The reason for these cultural similarities was that they were largely shaped by the environment; living a nomadic life on the steppe brought out similar ways of living. Both peoples relied heavily on their herds of sheep and in some cases cattle and on raiding their neighbors and the sedentary people they came across. Dealing with a HARSH environment where temperatures ranged from Frigid in the winter to very hot in summer, brought out similar "personalties". Personal toughness, resilience, self reliance, an unforgiving nature, patience. I could go on and on here, but I will suffice it to say that as a Hungarian American, i Do feel some kinship to Turkic and Mongolic peoples; at one point in History we were quite close and certain aspects of personality of the peoples STILL endure. A LOVE and skill with horses, the Hungarians are the BEST horsemen in Europe, a certain hardiness and self reliance. HONESTY.... pride in a Martial past. Stubbornness in the face of defeat. Personal courage , a love of nature and respect for the Great one who rules over all of us (Tengri?). Honoring our elders. Stoicism and a reluctance to complain in the face of physical challenges and pain. DETERMINATION... COURAGE.. These I am happy to share these characteristics with my Turkic brothers and they reflect what is BEST in all Turanian peoples, including of course the Magyars. Later history put us at odds , for SURE, But let us celebrate that which is best in us and the character traits we jointly developed and that formed the building blocks of our nations. BTW, My DNA STILL SHOWS about 5% Central Asian ancestry..... And I am a Proud Hungarian!!!

As a Chinese, I feel that China should participate in this event. Despite not being traditionally considered as a nomad nation, China has actually been heavily influenced by nomad cultures, especially Northern China. Hotpot and lamb skewers, two dishes with nomadic origins, have become popular throughout China, and are now considered as the trademark of Chinese cuisine.
And the nomad influence in China doesn't stop at foods. Chinese armor and archery, costumes, and even language all bear their influence.

From what I understood from Wikipedia, this is that thing where many Uralo-Altaic, some Caucasian and one Slavic people celebrate their steppe nomadic ancestry.
Remembering for the past isn't bad, but we have to realize that we haven't anything common with these turkic peoples.

@@oghuzkhan5117 No, we never weren't 'turk'. We came from Ural , and we were ugric. Today, we aren't ugric by genetics, but we still speak an Ugric language. Yes, Europe never was on our side, we sometimes got backstabbing from them, we lost our territories too. But Europe is still better than islamic turkic people. Turkey, Mongolia and Central Asian turkics represent a very different culture, and Hungary had nothing to do with this. And now a little hungarian history. At first, the nomadic 'Turan' Mongol Empire was who weakened Hungary, and killed at least 20% of the hungarian population. This weakened us, but Hungary could recover from it. And then the turkic Ottoman Empire came. Hungary and Ottomans fought against each other for centuries. And it was the Ottoman Empire what finally destroyed the strong and independent Hungarian nation. After the Ottoman invasion we became a weak puppet, and our glory never returned. Of course I don't deny the Habsburgs also invaded us and weakened us ( together with the Ottomans), but Ottomans attacked us first, and Ottomans wanted to destroy us, the Habsburgs were the backstabber opportunist ones, who saw a weakened country, and took advantage of the situation. So I think Hungary doesn't need the turkish 'friendship'.

You only say that you dont have anything common with the Turkic state's its only because they are muslim bu majority. Nagyon lenézed te az egyszerü embereket akik csendben keresik a történelmüket és meg is találják..hasburg ide vagy oda...Jah és magyar oldalon tán magyar nyelven kéne irkálni. Már a török és más a volt türk népek!. Török ma is európa iszlamizálását akarja mig a türk népeknél azidökben vallási türelem volt. A szlávok meg a valamikori bizánc téritése idején váltott nyelvet.
