Crossing the lagoon cuts 80% of your walk. Can’t wear flip flops LOL. I sigh if it’s high tide.. and walk on water

We were there for a week before the rain. We left the day the rain started( Tuesday). I'm so thankful we had nice weather. Flying home from Miami was a complete Sh#t show.

We just trek across the lagoon. Its gross, but we wear water shoes and have dry bags for our stuff. After you walk thru the disgusting water and then walk on the path and you catch sight of the gulf, you realize its all worth it.

should just construct a boardwalk over the lagoon

The issue I have with it is that the controls are not backlit. This means that during power outages if you're in the dark you can't see the controls. Backlit controls would greatly help this. We had a major outage for around 14 days ( ice storm Dec 08) and I had a weather radio. Had to use a candle to see the controls at night.
