What kind of trikes do you ride? And how do you transport them to all of these places?
2014 and 2016 Terratrike Ramblers, purchased used in 2020, modified with e-assist, fatter tires, and internally geared rear hub. Transported in a Toyota Sienna.
How was the ride in Alexandria without the protected bike trail? Is it doable for beginners?
Old Alexandria requires great care! Most drivers were courteous. No trail signage to speak of.
You could have put some info about the trikes in the notes.
We do trails, not trikes! We ride old, used trikes modified with e-assist, fat tires and internally geared hubs for crushed stone trails. Bentrideronline.com has a lot of folks eager to share their opinions.

Terratrike Ramblers, 2014 and 2016 model years. Bafang BBSHD motor and NuVinci N 171 rear hub. The trail is 18.5 miles. There are several links to more trail info in the video description below.

1:19 your title is misleading as you are not presenting recumbent trikes as any comparison betwixt. You also are riding on MUP's and not showing yourselves going up the hill that these folks are walking up. Not one recumbent bike to be seen just trikes? I ride a 2016 Bacchetta Giro A20 touring recumbent leading rides with the Vancouver Bicycle Meetup Group as well as taking it places that a trike would not be able to negotiate. All you are showing here is a downhill glee factor not the reality of being on real hills .

It sounds like you’re a little “bent” out of shape. Pun intended. I’ve owned a Bacchetta Strada, Ti Aero, and CA 2.0 over the years. All were def faster than my trike in every situation. Balancing on an incline will be an issue for any two wheel recumbent. I am 71, firmly against E-assist and do 20-40 miles most days. I’ve climbed 13% grades at a crawl….45 mph during the descent. No way would I have made those climbs on any two wheeled cycle.
@@markrobinson891 I have very low first gear at 17.5" and a low top gear of 93" and I have climbed 19th street where I live and it is a 22% grade . Not a problem with balance and I went up it in 3rd gear with only huffing and puffing in the last 30 feet. That hill intimidated me for three years just looking at it. Yes a trike might have been easier and you can stop and start without balance issues .
My philosophy of bikes. Ride what you like, how you like, where you like, with who you like. If you aren’t having fun, you’re doing it wrong!

The trail surface is mostly compacted fines and is very well maintained. Smooth! Note the guy riding the Bachetta recumbent with 1" tires!
Is it possible to cross Columbus by trail? I looked at the map and it seems you still have to use city streets in downtown.
I find Google Maps to be the best source of bike route information everywhere. Be sure to enable the biking layer. Yes, you sometimes need to ride on streets to get where you’re going.
