Wing Hing Long Store was established in the late 19 century as one of a number of stores serving the tin mining communities of the district. Tin was first discovered in the early 1870s. The discoveries simulated a boom in population growth and in productivity which peaked in the late 19 century and which slowly decline as the mining boom went bust.
