Bass guitar is an underestimated instrument. It can play both solo and accompaniment, and I do it here! Nobody has to play only accompaniment all their lives!
Because I really want to encourage people to live their lives as solo pieces.

Thanks for this! Some great bass lines for beginners to observe and incorporate into their playing. I heard it a long time before you were born and I played the bass along to it too back in 1975!, with just a few differences. For example on the C E F F# G. B C C# D . F# G G# A I then played C# D Eb E E E E , the last E being an octave higher than open E. Sometimes I played the E after C an octave higher too and doubled the guitar riff.
Yeah, it looks like passages of passing notes. It must sound good!
If you don't know how to write, in order. You don't know anything! absolutely nothing!!!; But shame is pride for you. Go study carefully and keep quiet about this. The stupid dare everything; that’s how we recognize them
Tatiana, you absolute hero! We are all learning Hey Joe now! This will take me ages to learn, but it's so worth it
I hope it’ll take less than ages! This part is actually pretty simple when you see how it’s built and take it easy! Good luck with your practice! ☺️❤️
Grossartig!!!Perfekt!!! Herzlichen Dank Tatiana !!!
Thanks for the breakdown and interesting technical analysis.
Thank you for watching and your support Peter! ☀️

This is not good advice. Groove is the opposite of what this video says it is. Groove isn't playing notes on the clicks of a metronome. Groove is when your notes *don't* line up perfectly on the grid. Groove is all about pushing or pulling some notes while preserving the overall tempo. It's not about robotic play, and it's not about changing tempos. If you want to practice groove, for sure use a metronome to keep overall time, but play with the precise timing of each note you play. Hesitate for a bit to build tension. Rush a note or a section to add some frenetic energy. And (in general) come back and land right on the one to keep in sync with the rest of the band.
I’m afraid what you say doesn’t work for a band. These things are really good for classical musicians, but they don’t need to be groovy.
I come here to help my left hand piano playing. Bass players are groovy and this helped. I'm also playing the ukulele since I couldn't play the guitar nor the 3/4 bass since I have serious shoulder problems. In case you want to have help with your low back I have a video for exercises to stabilize and strengthen the pelvic girdle, and they take 30 seconds. There are also techniques for shoulders and hands. Oh My Aching Bach.
Thank you! I’m interested, and I will watch what you have!
Not only is your English pronunciation fat from groovy, You're missing the point altogether Metronome is good, but quavers, triplets and crochets have nothing to do with it. If you can't feel the offset triplet - the swing, which can't be written, you will never groove. Swing cannot be counted. It has to be felt.
When you learn how to play swing, counting helps. After that, it becomes a feeling. That’s funny that you think that the note values have nothing to do with a metronome! 😂 If you don’t like what I sound or look like, you have nothing to do with my channel. You are free to go away.
Google has a metronome built into its search engine. It’s basic and free.
Absolutely! Easy to find! ☺️
@@khankann looking forward to more content. 😁👍🏻
" nice" i learned something today👌thankyou. im 63 & taught myself by ear from age 7. i still cant read music nor done 1 lesson in my life. whether it be bass or guitar i believe groove is a personally combined syncopated "feel" of timing + string "strike type" (slap, tap or picked) + fret pressure relative to the flow & feel of the song rather than perfectly timed bland scale movements
You are right that the attack and the feeling of the style is very important too!
This was well...groovy!
Yay, I’m happy you think so! ☺️❤️
@@khankann Boogie on! 🎸
could i get the sheet music for this?

I think I'm in love! That was beautiful and made my whole day.
Thank you so much for these words! It’s the first thing I just read after waking up in the morning, and it warms my heart! ❤️
Good tutorial -thanks. BTW, What brand of bass do you have there?
Thank you! It’s Cort junior.
I never looked for a definition of the groove, but if someone would ask me that, I would say that the groove is achieved when a player is capable to play exactly on the grid, but plays a little out of the grid intentionally. Great video btw!
Great definition! 👍
Супер!

out of tune
It’s not.
Nice. This is much easier to play. What I did was to put a sponge (mute) under the ADG strings and let the E ring for 33333333 55555555 and for the glissando at the end running from E12 down the neck. I think the mute sounds much more like the original recording. Perhaps you are palm muting. I wouldn't mind seeing a video on muting techniques.
Thank you for your comment! I think I have a video about muting strings, could you please check this one? th-cam.com/video/nWJItKzw1qk/w-d-xo.html I hope there are some explanations about it. You are welcome to let me know if anything is unclear, and I'll be happy to look into it!
A general rule I noticed. The more ink in a note the shorter its length. We use the tem semibreve in the UK rather than "Whole note" too
It’s funny that the terms are different, and people need to learn to sets of them at the same time! I like your observation about ink! 🤔☺️
👍
👋☺️
Hi Tatiana, often out of laziness I practise with youtube drum loops, but you are absolutely right that the metronome is essential (even if a bit boring)
Yeah, the metronome makes it all clearer… 🤷♀️☺️
excellent practice
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I have never played anything where I have tried this technique. It could help to move around the fretboard more smoothly.
I've noticed that I use this technique often without even thinking about it. Some movements start being natural when you learn them once!
I tried it but the improvement didn't last very long and the sound was duller than new strings. Sometimes, you might want a less sharp tone that you get with old strings.
Sometimes you do need a sound closer to double basses, that's right!
People sometimes put sponge under the strings near the bridge to get a sound with less twang and attack, which is a bit like old dirty strings too.
Hmm my post seems to have been rejected.
What do you mean?
I posted the same message as you already replied to about half an hour earlier but it never appeared. Just a random event maybe.
I tried it once and there was a difference, but the sound was not as good as new strings. I also noticed that the improvement didn't last for very long, only two weeks. With new strings it took about a month before the sound began to decline. So I have never tried it since. What might work is to put the old strings in an ultra sonic cleaning bath with a solvent like automotive fuel, but I have never tried that.
Ah! Your post hasn’t been rejected, you just left it under another video ☺️ Yeah, you are right, the effect doesn’t last long. It can be a solution when you have an important gig ahead and you’re not ready to put the new strings on. I think it’s because the strings stretch, and boiling doesn’t fix it. So probably the ultrasonic bath won’t fix it either. I haven’t tried it.
And if you learn how to play the minor version too, you can start gigging.
:)) I like it!
Great job, Mrs. Riabinkina. I love it. I might also do a bass cover of that song next time. I did a recent bass cover of the standard E tuning version of “Another One Bites The Dust” by Queen yesterday.
Yay, that's good! I've seen that people use E minor scale to play that song as it's easier with the open string and it helps keep up a good rhythm. Groovy play is what we all enjoy!
@@khankann Thank you and that’s right🙂👍
