I always feel weird and angry when people try to talk about Nausicaa, as I discovered the manga before the movie. The movie is so weak and bland compared to the manga.

Just, an idea, or something, that i love, which is so well demonstrated in Nausicaa, is that despite all the war, famine, hate, and suffering in our world... There is still beauty. If you choose to see it, you can how how incredibly breath-takingly beautiful this world is. And, similarly, whenever i think about how I'd want to live in a time without the pollution of our world, to see the fantastic nature that was. I remind myself it's still here. So many of the forests, tundras, and mountains (especially) are still here. And the sky has stayed pristine (in some places). And that even if so much of it disappears, so much else will always be here.

I think the end conclusion is really apt as I think Miyazaki has gone on record saying stuff about how he wanted his movies to get kids out and enjoy nature. The idea that nausicaa asks humanity to endure is very compelling. It's kind of interesting to ask what the boy and the heron asks of the audience. What is death? What is it like to live? How do you go on living? I might have to think about his movies like this more.

The anti nuclear theme is also present in the manga because they confirmed that the giant warriors radiate making nausicaa sick and spoilers for the manga... Kills Teto, telling us that even if we side with the warriors as nausicaa does in the manga, we lose the ones we love.

06:26 Blame it on the factory not being checked for its pollutants that caused people's poisoning and government corruption, even in Japan. That has nothing to do with capitalism, which takes people out of poverty worldwide. Tired of communist propaganda!.

The scary thing about the God Warriors is that they were deliberately designed to be as radioactive as possible in order to *help* the environment. By transmuting the microplastics and other toxins pervading the soil into radionuclides they made them into a ready source of energy that could be absorbed by the radiotrophic organisms of the Sea of Corruption and eventually broken down into an inert state. Think of it as environmental debt consolidation.

I know Miyazaki said that Princess Mononoke was sort of a retelling of Nausicaa where it was more clear that he intended to say that coexisting with nature was critical. And I took that to mean that the toxic jungle and its inhabitants did not randomly evolve, but rather were designed. That some ancient tribe (country) saw the damage that had been done and set about creating a way to eventually fix it even though they did not expect to last long enough to see the results. I saw it as humanity learning not to fight against nature, but to embrace it and work with it.

i strongly disagree with the statement that capitalism leads to more pollution. communist/socialist countries are responsible for much greater amounts of pollution than capitalist countries in general.

This movie is my childhood and introduction to the works of Studio Ghibli along with 'Castle in the Sky: Laputa' as well as 'My Neighbour Totoro, though the latter is probably my least favourite out of the three. Both Nausicaa and Laputa are my two favourite animated films next to the original theatrical of 'Mobile Suit Gundam' and Char's Counterattack.

I have always felt such deep melancholy for each and every beaitufl piece by Miyazaki. I've watched all except the newest and the grave of the fireflies when I was little I was practically brought up on them. And I have never met anyone who has loved them or understood them as deeply as myself... my friends won't watch them and the one who tried said they fell asleep because 'they got bored'... So thank you, so much for reminding me that good people can see these films as more than just pretty art or boring slow stories... because there (to me) have been such rarity of people I have met to look deeper than the surface of these masterpieces!

To me I’ve always seen Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa as a thematic pair, if not directly connected films. Mononoke is the exploration of man’s primordial original sin against nature in favour of technology- and Nausicaa is the story of man’s redemption. And tbh I think a lot of the visual elements are purposefully similar- the raging demon boar of Mononoke to me bears striking similarity to the Ohm in Nausicaa for instance.

I really feel like this man never sctually watched the movie because there are multiole question he said were unanswerable but they literally answer them in the movie if you jsut oay attention to it such as him saying "what are the origins of the giant warriors?" In the tapestry in the very begining of the movie it literary shows mankinf making the giant warriors thus the question of their origins has been answered mankind made the giant warriors and he also asked the question "what are the ohmu and what is their connection to the sea of decay" that one us also answered in the movie when nausicaa and asbel are under the jungle and nausicaa is doing her analytical self rant thing where shes saying that "the ohmu must've evolved to guard this place" so that is literally also another asnwer to one of the question he said were unanswerable that is literally answered by the movie itself if you just pay attention

In original story of nausicaa written by Miyazaki himself, Every human, jungle species, even ohm will be extinguished and replaced by creatures of old world as jungle purifies pollution. Ohm , the noble wise creatures were created by stupidly human bioengineering . They will accept even their extinction calmly.

Im sorry, but stating that we know nothing of the "war titans" is just plain wrong. In the opening credits, you can see a brief history of humanity, delivered in myhological looking paintings, where we can clearly see how humans put one together. So in fact, we know that they are biological or biomechanical weapons engineered by humans a thousand years ago. We can conclude that they wiped out humans and probably all animals as well, as you see it in the paintings and you also have a scarcity of animals in the whole anime. We only ever see 2 ostrich like birds and a fox squirrel... No other mammals, no fish, no birds, only insects. And from their ability to shoot lasers out of their mouth, we can conclude that they were most likely intended as living weapons. What we in fact dont know, is why they wiped out humanity or how long it took, or if it was even intended for them to kill everybody. There could have been a war or they could have been an experiment gone horribly wrong. We dont know how long the war titans lived, they managed to set the world on fire within seven days, but they could in fact have been around for hundrets of years. We know that they died at some point and than the insects took over only after they were gone. So as you can see, if you think about it for a second, you should include all the information we have about them and not say the reasons dont matter. Cause they caused the apocolypse... You cant write an essay and just shove that topic aside stating its unimportant, it probably is the most important event that happened in this fictional world. Your essay is worthless if you dont explain one of the most important world building factors of the whole anime...

This is my favourite movie of all time. My only criticism is the prophecy angle, which adds a level of mysticism that I see as incongruous and immaterial to Nausicaa's journey. Still a 10/10 for me
