Antique Dayton Toy Train Restoration
This is a 1930's Dayton Friction Drive Toy Train with Tender. I found this train online and paid $80. Being this old I figured the paint would be lead and it was, which required using a paint stripper. Overall the body was in pretty good shape but the tender part of the train had some issues with the flooring that took quite a bit of work to get figured out. I think it turned out great and hope you agree. Thanks for watching the video and let me know if you have any questions about the process.

Rare 1950's Bandai Ferrari Japanese Friction Toy Restoration
This is a rare 1950's Bandai Ferrari 750 Monza friction toy that I found online and paid $40. I really like the design of this car but have never seen anyone take one of these apart and had no idea if I could restore it. It was more challenging than I imagined but I am extremely happy with the results. One major hurdle was that the decals are lithographed onto the metal. I do not have a way to ...
1950's Buddy L GMC Tanker Restoration/Reimagined - Custom Super Deluxe Version
This 1950's Buddy L GMC Tanker, originally a Texaco version, was found at a local flea market and cost $80. The body was in pretty good condition but was in need of restoration. The wheels were destroyed and had to be replaced which got me thinking. This was my chance to see if I could create the ultimate tanker of my own design. I always liked the Pegasus horse from the Mobil logo and wanted t...
1954 Amar Toys "Minister Open Deluxe" Restoration
This is a 1954 Amar Toys "Minister Open Deluxe" Pontiac Convertible Friction Toy. I purchased this toy online for $50. I have never worked on a friction toy before so this was an interesting experience. I was hoping that all of the metal work on the car could be polished and was not sure if the body would hold up for powder coating or if I would have to paint the car. I ended up taking a chance...
1950's Doepke MG TD Vintage Toy Restoration
This is a 1950's Doepke MG TD Kit car. These cast aluminum kits were produced from 1954-1956 and allowed the customer to paint the car the color of their choice and put the entire car together using only screws. I found this old car at a local antique shop and picked it up for $65. It was missing several parts including headlights, windshield and the cover for the convertible top. It also had a...
1960's Buddy L Colt "Ford Bronco" Restoration
This is a 1960's Buddy L Colt built to resemble a Ford Bronco. I found this one at a local flea market and knew I had enough spare parts to complete the project. There were a few issues along the way, including a botched Nickel plating job which led to an excessive amount of sanding. I need more practice with plating but you will see it at some point in future restorations. If you have any idea...
1960's Mighty Tonka Wrecker Tow Truck Restoration
This Mighty Tonka Wrecker was purchased online for $45. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Looking back, there are a few things I would have done differently but overall I am pleased with the final result. I hope you enjoyed watching and feel free to ask any questions. The goal of this project was to return it back to original, as much as possible. The powder coat colors were Gloss...

1960 Tonka Sportsman Truck & Trailer Restoration
This 1960's Tonka Sportsman truck and trailer were purchased at a local yard sale. Thanks for taking the time to watch and feel free to ask any questions. #Tonka #BuddyL #Restoration
1960's Tonka VW Beetle Bug Restoration - Movie Theme!

1960's Tonka Dump Truck Restoration
This 1960's Tonka Dump Truck was found at a local flea market and purchased for $40. I like the style of the dump truck but not the color. I thought it was time for a black truck. There was hours and hours of sanding but I am happy with the final result. If you have any questions please feel free to comment and I will get back to you. Thanks for watching. #BuddyL #TonkaRestoration #ToyRestoration
1970 Buddy L Model A Rat Rod Restoration
We found this Buddy L Model A Rat Rod, which was manufactured in 1970, at a local antique store and paid around $45. I thought this would make for a great project but I just couldn't go with the original pink color. I thought a white body would be about the only color that might look good with the orange seat and roof. This project turned out to be a huge challenge but I think it was worth it. ...

Barnfind! 1960's Buddy L GMC Stepside Pickup - Full Restoration
This crusty 1960's Buddy L GMC Stepside was found locally and it appeared to have only surface rust under all the caked on dirt and dust. I thought it was the perfect candidate for restoration. I started by taking it apart and then giving it a bath to see what we had to work with. I was pleasantly surprised with the body and after some hand sanding and sand blasting it was ready for powder coat...

1960 Tonka Jeep Restoration - U.S. Air Force Edition
It's beautiful
Nice job!
Excellent job, I'm doing a atlas master right now. Columbus is one of my top favorites.
Superb Job, very impressive 😮
I did this 30 years ago to mine, painted it to match my 1954 MG TF.
That train looks the same as the one in the videos, like Barney and friends episode; "Who is who on a choo choo".
Anche io celo bellissima comblimenti
I loved everything about it. I just wish I could find some to restore myself. Not for You Tube, so no competition there. I just want to do it for myself and possibly give as gifts for those in my family that have children and.or game rooms. Great job!!
Such a bummer not original pink.
Amazing 👏👏👏😻
Nice
Nice work....I have the same item....would love to see the plastic tires replaced with the rubber ones with no inserts....mine is 97% factory finish...love it when I had them as a kid loving them now at 60 plus...
That's my favourite childhood toy. Please can you send me one? I'd love to keep one.
Fantastic model, fantastic restoration!
Couldn't you also use spray cans instead of powder?

I like your videos, but why don't you speak?
These toy '54 Pontiacs we're introduced to the U.S. in the 1980s. I've had several. I kept one, a black sedan.
I have a sizeable collection of Japanese tin cars from the '50s and '60s, so restorations of this type of toy car are of interest to me. Keep going. Two questions, though: as long as you repainted, why not go with Ferrari red, and why not make an Italian flag decal instead of the Union Jack?
Very nice restorations. Those vintage railroad lanterns are beautiful pieces of history.
Nice job. The train came out great!!!
It's interesting that someone painted yours red at some point, because I have one that I got at the junkyard, and it's painted the same shade of red. It originally was a army truck, just like this one. Nice work.
Did u make a Lead test on the paint before the sand blasting ?
REALLY LIKED - what u did here = G R E A T J O B / Took a toy & turned it into a very nice Original looking Gas Tanker
This is truly a magnificent restoration, marvelous.
black on white
Fantastic job!!!
At first glance, this is a nice restoration. However, why didn't you remove the cargo box? This will leave rust behind and that cannot be the intention.
Buddy L stepside beds are spot welded on from factory, however it should have been removed and done properly.
A very beautiful restoration. The color choice is beautiful.
Only one comment is possible here: a magnificent restoration, splendid!
Hawk, you've given this old toy a second life! Magnificently executed!.
An impressive restoration with a awesome result! Black isn't the original color, I guess, but it's gorgeous. In addition, the paint job is excellent.
Herbie
This is truly a magnlficent restoration. Superb paint job. Hawk, you've made it another gem!
I have a Star gumball machine that I need help with. How can I contact you?
Herbie the love bug
Absolutely 💯 beautiful job. I love to see old things like this brought back to life. This is the first video of yours I watched so I subscribed
a bad abandoned steam toy locomotive into a nice and shiny paintwork steam toy locomotive
I like when you create. Do something. Different. Colors, reinvent the vehicle. Thanx you are good.
