    Is there any similarity between the Husqvarna 460 and the partner 460? I would like to buy a used partner 460 in good condition but i don't know if there are any spare parts for them

  • @baldemargiii1190
    @baldemargiii1190 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought a rancher 460 at tractor supply and it did not have a scabbard. I caleed the store and Husqvarna and they told me it did not come with one. I told them I looked on Lowes website and the scabbard is included but to no avail. How did you convince them to send you one?

    • @mountain-life
      @mountain-life 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to call Husqvarna customer service and tell them the saw you purchased was missing the scabbard, I told them I have purchased many chainsaws over my lifetime and every saw came with a scabbard it’s a piece of plastic for gods sake why is your company so cheap, I paid over $500 for the saw the least you can do is to make sure I have something to protect the bar and chain the scabbard probably costs pennies to make but they want us to spend another $15 to purchase one as an accessory I find this practice shameful and greedy every Stihl chainsaw I have purchased always came with a scabbard it shouldn’t matter where you brought the Husqvarna the saw should come complete with a scabbard, I was not happy when I talked to customer service so instead of fighting me they agreed to send me a scabbard for free. That is all I can tell you, good luck!

    What will you use cottonwood boards for ? They have no structural value and no authentic value

    • @mountain-life
      @mountain-life 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi and thank you for watching my video, I live in Washington state and we have cottonwood trees everywhere big ones, I have been using cottonwood for different projects around the house, such as bookshelves, 2 inch thick shelving in my garage. It dries very hard and quite strong. This past summer I milled 200 2x4x8 boards for a customer he used them to frame interior walls for his cabin non load bearing of course, also people use cottonwood for trailer decking. If you have healthy trees with no rot on the inside the wood once dried is quite nice to work with.

    I could not lift the 460 so heavy let alone wield it when cutting so bought another 450 with 20 inch bar instead. My wrist injuries don't help either. The 460 saw in Australia is $1300 AUD or $963USD. Premixed fuel costs almost $10AUD per litre so most dealers don't stock as it is cheaper making your own - $2.50 AUD a litre! Most good chain saws here start from $300 AUD - the only ones we buy here at US prices are Chinese ones.

    • @mountain-life
      @mountain-life 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my! sorry to hear you have wrist injuries, I hurt my back recently so I haven’t been cutting wood lately. Yes the saw is heavy but I just use it for felling and bucking, I have 2 other saws I use for firewood, they are much smaller. Wow! So expensive in your country, I paid $525.00 for mine new. Yes I will mix my own fuel from now on, the pre mix is too expensive. Haha, yes I just bought a cheap Chinese saw for $75.00 from Walmart online. I made a TH-cam video about it you can check it out, had to make a modification to the saw in order for the log dog to attach to the saw, I wasn’t real happy about that but the saw was cheap and it works fine for what I need it to do. Nice hearing from you, hope your injuries don’t cause you too much pain.

    Just curious........ if you spent the $4600 on the HM130 Max, why not spring the extra $400 for one extension section? Surely your cabin project is going to require some material longer than 10 feet. One extension would allow you to cut up to 16 footers.

    • @mountain-life
      @mountain-life 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your recommendation, I considered doing that however the cabin I’m building isn’t the type your thinking about. I will be building it with smaller logs staggered and milled on three sides, the logs will be easier to move and stack upon each other in a butt and pass design, no need for longer material. Originally I was going to build the cabin using saddle notching so using longer materials made sense, but I changed my mind.

    • @michaelkindy3850
      @michaelkindy3850 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mountain-life Point understood with the wall log building method. You're still going to need rafters and probably a long ridge board. I'd venture a wager that the $400 extension section would be less expensive than buying those long boards at the lumber yard. You have an amazing supply of logs, Sir. Good luck with your venture and keep the sawdust flying.

      Is there any concern with the cottonwood rotting. I find it gets real mushy fast

    • @mountain-life
      @mountain-life 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisklemm3116 yes your right if you leave it laying around in the wet and in the dirt, then it’s like most other wood the bugs will find it and tear it up, however if you mill the would into dimensional lumber and sticker and stack it to dry then the cottonwood dries very hard and strong, This Summer I milled 200 count 2x4x8 for a customer and he used them to frame some interior walls for his cabin and had no problems. Also don’t dry it in the direct sun as it will warp and bend severely. Dry it in partial sun and shade with good airflow, and always place some weight on top of the pile, you can also use some ratchet straps to bind the pile even more tight so the lumber can’t move, then throw a piece of tin on the pile just in case it rains and you will be good to go. I use cottonwood for a lot of different projects around the house. Also get the bark off of it as soon as possible , that’s where the bugs hang out. Hope that helps.
