Desculpe o tratado 😅
No, no... it is not heavy at all. Master and Margareta is one of my favourite books. It is often so funny or serious and deep. Koroviov is my favourite 😅
Good to hear! When any book has the theme of the Faust Myth, I think it will be difficult. Now with your comment I became even more curious to see how I'm going to do with this reading!

😊hi, I am so glad to see you again.
Hiii!! so glad to have you here too 🥰 How are you?
I did the same thing you did, read his words and for a moment felt I understood. Then I went back to re-read the same section to have a more nuanced understanding. I started to believe that every time I read a section, I would experience a different way to perceive it. Thai is an incredible work of art, an incredible insight to humanity. Quite frankly, stunning and deeply thought provoking.
Yes, this book is very interesting, difficult, confusing, relatable... and so on and on! I would say is quite contradicting in it's on way... and as you said, if we do a re-read we are going to take a different meaning. For me it was a wonderful experience. For sure I will came back to it some day ☺ Just one thing... and I'm sorry my ignorance: when you write "Thai is an incredible work of art (...)", what does it mean or what does refers to "Thai"? Thank you!
My apologies, I recently moved to Spain and my phone’s autocorrect deciphering two languages and my sloppy texting gets very confused 😅 It should read “It’s an incredible work of art”
@@MichaelDNelson Oh ok ok! I could have infered that 🤦♀

Good work. btw You could put the book down
cheers, mate
12:44 I guess it's a nod to corruption.
Yes, seems the best assumption! Now remembering some passages in the book, there was some sketchy agreement between Bolero and the UN (if I'm remembering right!) Is interesting how Philip K. Dick leaves you wondering! Thank You 🙏
Great video! I guess if you want to not be serious, you at least have to take not being serious seriously, to some extent at least. Because it's natural/intrinsic to take ourselves seriously sometimes. But by doing so, camp takes itself seriously. Maybe we can't escape nature. But I think you're right. She does contradict herself, but she mentions talking about camp is betraying camp in the first few lines. But camp will take all the serious unserious then serious business, and just ignore it. Hide it under the rug. Like it does with everything, except itself. Just like between tragedy and comedy, is how we view it or where we are when we are viewing it (not in control of how we view it) . Between greatness, and ridiculousness is how it's shown or described. "This is the greatest Elephant in the World, except Himself." I feel sorry for you if you made it this far reading this nonsense. And if you didn't make it this far reading it, well you did. Anyway, sorry again, and thanks for the great video.
I have to confess that I was unaware of this concept until I came upon this book. Perhaps I have heard being mentioned here and there but never thought too much about it. And I agree with you, I think it come up to be as we view the situation, or, as we position ourselves in certain situation. But still the term is not really clear in my head 😅
Yukatan...a region in Mexico 😊
Oh thank you! I could have done some research 🤦♀️
Technically their has been 3 screen adaptations of Lems novel and having watched them all have to admit Tarkovskys version is the best yet. Many of the scenes on it remain in your mind long afterwoods as do many of the lines in it. Sadly Lem himself never liked any of them but lets face it very few ever do overall. Yes book and film do differ in some parts but the gist of this highly thought provoking intelligent story make this sci-fi a classic of high order.
I still haven't dive in in watching the adaptations, but your comment made really want to! From what you said I'm with really high hopes for the Tarkovskys version!
Trust me you will not be disapointed! from the opening scenes of nature as we are introduced to the character of Kris Kelvin to the final scene that rivals that of 2001 in otherwords unexpected. It certainly made me re evaluate all that we had seen before and question how would I react giving a similar situation. @@booksanddoodlesreads
@@andrewoliver192 Now I'm intrigued and extremly curious! Thank you!
i really enjoyed your analysis of the novel itself, its highly intelligent and we both share the same introspective views on it. Stanislaw made us all to look at ourselves in order to get anywhere near to understanding any intelligent aliens out there whatever form they take. Having an intelligent ocean is interesting considering we as a species are 85% water ourselves which shows our primeordeal origins. I like how the story explores that in order to communicate with a alien out there that its more acceptable if its human in form and as the story explores perhaps someone we onced loved very deeply that played a major part in our lives. Wether you find that a mental pleasure or pain is something only we as individuals can answer and its a fascinating thought. There should be more sci-fi storys like this its not all spaceships, robots and tentacled monsters munching on anyone that gets in the way (ahem er really!)@@booksanddoodlesreads
@@andrewoliver192 Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you understood (beyond my bad english) and identified with my point of view! The part where you said that in this particular novel the form of live being an ocean kinda represents our origins was really interesting! I didn't think of that. And I tend to agree. I think that in truth that wasn't random in Stanislaw architecture of his book. And all of the emotional exploitation of the scientists present in the planet was an interesting way to go about it. As you said! In a way I feel that the ocean was exploiting the human weaknesses, fragilities. I can't say that I read too many sci-fi books, but I can say that in an instant became my favourite genre. I think through them you can think out of your mind box. And Solaris is definitly introspective, and it catches you in between the lines. It's not in your face, you have to do the reflection on your own.
Great to hear your review, of the book and the film! They are both great. Now I'm reading the book, i want to watch the film again!
The writing is really beautiful. I've had this book on my shelf for a long long time. I've seen the film but i didn't think i would enjoy the book. But it's so well written, i absolutely loved it.
I had seen the movie first also, so I was extremely curious to read the book and it was a wonderful surprise! Of course they have diferences as they should. Because if the movie was an exchange of letters the hole time it would be extremly boring. So I think the dynamic of the movie worked very well! Thank you for the kind words 😊
I totally forgot that I have finish "The Brothers Karamazov" in February!! Good news I was able to solve the problem with the storage of my computer without having to go to my "computer doctor"... but probably I'm just postponing the issue... let's see! 🤞 Soo.. as you can see I have a problem with filming vlogs! I treat every check-in, almost, as a review in itself. I want to be so detailed that I end up with a 2 hour video 🤦♀ Soo.. I'm kinda missing the point of a vlog... I think! In my next attempt I'm going to try to not surprass the 45 min mark... I'm going to have to change my mentality of what I think a vlog should be... to be, you know, watchable!! 😅 Still, I hope you can treat this vlog in homeopathic doses, and stop, do something else and came back to it 😊 Let me know your thoughts here in the comments. If you have any suggestions on how I should film... what I should change or do differently... I would love to hear it!!
The three stigmatics of Trump
Well, let's hope not!
I liked the movie very much.
I think the director of the film in terms of romance nuance took it up a notch in comparation with the book. What, for my taste, made it much better 🙂
I do like Solaris. But it is the best in original ...in Polish
Right... if I had the ability of understanding multiple languages, I would certainly read in the original language. But in this case I read a portuguese translation.
It is me again 😊 i am watching your vlog from the beginning. Dune...it is one if the most important books of my life. Not really becauae of plot but because of philosophical truths hidden... And the deeper one goes into Dune world the sadder ones become... But also stronger. I often quote a prayer against fear...by Bene Gesserit Second important book for me is Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow by Peter Hoeg. I highly recommend this book!
Hi, wonderful to read from you ☺ I adore Dune!! For right now I only have read the first trilogy, but I want to read the rest of the series. And I understand what you mean, the mix between ecology and philosophy are incredible. It envolves you in a kind of aura of deeper thought that you don't even realise. I just think it is fantastic! About your recommendation I'm already on the hunt to buy the book 😀I became extremly curious!
Try “The white nights” or “ The Idiot”. I guess it's related to what's your choice and your mode of that moment.
I will certainly try other books by Dosto. "The Idiot" I already read, and it didn't really work for me either. I just have to continue trying!
Nice! Thank you
Dostoievski is for everybody.
I'm of the opinion that you should try every genre to see what works for you, and, even, to read a book for yourself even if it has low rating, so in that way you can form your own opinion on it. And also things like the age that you read a certain book, and the circunstances in life in which you are affect your perspective on a reading. So what may not work now, may work in the future, and vice-versa. But for me books are not unanimous. There are cases that what for me is excellent for another person is the worst. I think taste as a lot to do with it.
I've read The Crime and the Punishment when I was only 12. I still think I was too young to read it. My head was full of this novel throughout my teenage days. So what I mean is Dostoyevsky may not be good for those who are not ready.
@@anzinn I agree with you, I think there are books and authors that people should be more parsimonious to when they read. But it also may be that for certain reasons like the style of writing, the characterization of characters, the style of the dialogues, the changes in the plot, etc. are not in synchrony with your personal taste and make you not enjoy a certain book. And I think that's ok. You may understand the significance of the book but, at the same time, noy enjoy the reading experience.
I am not a fan either...and i could read Dostoyevsky in Russian.😎
Really?! in russian?! Uau.. that's something else!! 👏 In conversation with a friend and from some of the things I read about Dosto life, he was having to get things publish quickly to pay debts, and he also was extorted, basically, by his publisher... so... I guess we can think that he would have very short deadlines to get things done, so he would have to write quickly. So I don't know if in other circunstances perhaps is style would be more refined... who knows!
@@booksanddoodlesreads I am quite old :)....and I was born in Eastern Bloc ...we were tought Russian at school.... :)
@@smillabutryn7517 Oh I see! Well I find that having the possibility of reading in the original language is the optimal experience. I hope to learn different languages throughout my life so I'm able to do that 🙂
Something that I forgot to comment in the video, was about the style of writing of Dostoyevsky. I find it a bit clumsy... and I don't know if this is the best word, I'm sure more eloquent people can find a better one... but I already felt this during the reading of "The Gambler" and "The Idiot". The particular style of writing of Dosto does not particular appeal to me. It makes the reading experience a bit difficult and not very pleasant. Of course, as I mention in the video, there are dialogues that I appretiated, but I'm talking about the book as a all. Do you feel the same? I know I'm not alone, because I heard other people talking about this. But I would really like to hear from you guys!
New to book tube and finding my way around. Best wishes with your reading choices and to your channel.
Thank you! Hope you have fun in this corner of TH-cam 🙂
Hello, I do not have any reading goals. I will read what i fancy or what i find in charity shop or ebay or in a book store. But i definitely want to read older books. There were tons of amazing and smart people writing great books so i decided to explore what i missed 😊 I used to be a fast reader. Now i am picky reader All depends on book. My eyesight is getting much worse so i also listen to audio books a lot . I will be interested in anything you will decide to show us 🙂 I am curious about your cooking style. Try what you fancy. I cook super simple way but i really like cook books to read and watch photos. Your style is natural and unpretentious. I like it. I will definitely watch your TH-cam posts . Instagram too. Passion mistry project sounds good. 😊
Thank you so much for the kind words, and for the trust in me 🥰 Funny thing, I briefly tried an audiobook but never came to finish it. Not because I didn't like the book, but because of the narrator. I'm the type of person that without any serious experience with audiobooks says they aren't for me. I also think I would distract easily, and would start to think in something else midway throught. It already happens 🙈 But anyway, more and more I'm thinking about giving in to it! About cook books, I like the idea, I have some. But I confess I use much more the searching on the internet and youtube videos. Perhaps is a matter of finding the right one!
The vlogs sound fun! I would like to see you do some cooking etc.. as well as your book content. ^^ I'm also a big mood reader. I like to think about the books I want to read over the next month or so but I still end up picking what sounds good at the time. I think it helps me not get into reading slumps. I don't use a program to track my reading but this year I'm at least going to keep a list of what I've read throughout the year. I'm not a slow reader generally but when it comes to reading classics I definitely slow down and need to take my time reading.
Yeahh... I'm really glad to hear it! 🤗 I've been thinking about changing up a bit the sort of content on my channel, but things never seemed to be in line. So hopefully in the upcoming months I'll be able to do so!! The decision I made to program all my readings throughout the year is more like an experiment, because I never have done nothing of the like before. Sooo.... let's see how I do 🙈🙈 I'm very jealous of you for not being a slow reader 😅 And I agree with you, when it comes to classics the flow slows down even more.
Happy New Year! 😊 No worry.. we like your ways 😊
Happy New Year!! Well I'm glad to hear it 😅
I like all angles :) Thank you for posting. It is a very pleasant and calming experience to listen to your book reviews. In this crazy world it is absolutely necessary to have places of peace, culture and immersion into literature. Thank you🎉 biy the way...your x mas tree decorations are very cute😊 i especially like little Santa.
Ohhh 🥰 You have no idea how happy your comment makes me 💖 Is always unexpected, unfortunately, to receive positive and uplifting comments! Of course I'm a very small channel so I can count the comments I received in one hand (and they have been all positive), but with everything that we see in other channels and other platforms is refreshing! I'm very pleased you enjoy to watch my review videos (for what I gather, review videos aren't the most popular, so thank you!) and that you enjoy all angels 😁I was looking for approval ihih 😂 So glad you liked me tree!! I love christmas and everything surrounding it, so is a joy to decorate the tree.... what I didn't tell you was that I already had my tree up since the beginning of november 🤣🤣
@@booksanddoodlesreadsit is my pleasure to watch your videos. In spite of many people running vlogs about books and reading, very few make me feel at ease or give me nice vibes. I pay atrention to many things like light, colours, voice of person talking ... i hope that i do not comnent too much 😊 i like your channel and i hope you will keep posting. Please do not change to please "mases". There is enough of that... i hope that more people will find you too because it would make you happy. I smiled seeing your christmas tree. My nephew also asked his mother to decorate x nas tree in the middle of November. I like it 😊😊😊
@@smillabutryn7517 oh no, please do comment!! 😅 I enjoy interacting with you! And it's also a reasurance that my content is being enjoyable, which is the main point! And of course if it's done politly I accept criticism and feedback. When we are children christmas time is more magical, I remember it well! Wishing a very bright christmas to you and your family 💌
This American version of "Persuasion" is really bad. As boring, simplistic as possible. It does not have a charm and subtle sense of humour Jane Austin novels have a plenty. Acting...tragic! Dialogue... 😒 This is movie for what Miss Austin would call... Simpletons Most of American movies now are like that so my heart bleeds... So boring times for movie lovers
I agree! I would prefer if they would have written a totally original script, with original plot, and made a popcorn rom com rather than taking advantage of the name of Jane Austen to make a buck. I'm with you...tragic!
Arnie is cute and fun. I like him too :)
I know right🥰 As the perspectives of american presidency are right now, I just think is such a shame he's not being able to run for president. I think he would be great!
Yes. I agree. He would be a good president.

Happy Halloween 👻👻👻😁
Marquez is hard to stomach...for sure
Again I can't really say that I'm knowledge of the matter surrouding Marquez, I have to read more about it. But, for the few things that I heard I was a bit dissapointed. But, at the same time, I'm kinda leaning on the thought that we should separate creator from creation... Although I think it also depends on what type of behaviour we are talking about... soooo... kinda hard to see right and wrong... at least for me
Not about books but make up... I do not wear make up at all because i am too lazy to do that and also i have allergies But I like your colours ...you often go for warm hues and they suit you very well. You look pretty wearing your make up. About the books... Lots of famous books can be actually very boring or unpleasant. So no point to waste time for the them. 😊😊😊
Ohhh thank you so much! In my more recent videos I'm not using make up, at least not in the eyes, because I had dermatitis, but, I'm definitly a warm tones girl ☺ About the books, I agree with you! I'm definitly of the opinion that just because a book is popular doesn't mean it will work for everyone... of course this is common sense but, still, worth being said! And for quite some time, some of the authors and books that I've mentioned were in my tbr, but, as long time passed and I heard more opinions, my perspective on the stories changed, and my wanting to read them changed as well. So hearing different people talk about it is of great help! That's why I love youtube 😃
Wow so epic information, thanks you.
I love this book! It is very sensual book in the best way. And my real name is Claudia :)
